âWho fucking knows?â Louisa sighed, shaking her head as she began to wipe down the counter. It was a slow night, but having Kellan here would make the night go at least a little faster. âIâll talk to him, see if we can do something about this guy. Because I need this job, but I swear Iâll quit,â she chuckled.
âyeah, please do. Because Iâm in the same boat as you. the tips are nice as hell here but Iâll go flip burgers at Bluejays or back to pumping gas if I have to deal with him for much longer.â Kellan half joked. âbut Iâm also telling you now, if you quit Iâm quitting with you. â he added with a chuckle. He glanced around at the practically empty bar, the dread of the next few hours dragging by settled in. âI think theyâve got it under control here for a few minutes. Safety meeting?â He asked with his eyebrow perked, pulling the half pack of cigarettes from his back pocket, exposing the hand rolled âcigaretteâ to her.

âThe tips are pretty decent and itâs a good day job to use as a cover up,â Aurora replied. During the day, she was just a twenty something year old trying to make an honest living at the local diner. At night? She was a treasurer for a criminal biker gang. Two very different sides to her. A playful smirk formed on her lips as she listened to Kellanâs response. âNo need to try to play dumb, I think we both know what my ideas are,â she inches closer to him, almost as a way of teasing him.
âseems fair I guess.â he shrugged, leaving the conversation where it lied. Which was all he could do when she inched closer causing any thought that filled his head to drift out the window with ease. âuh, yea-yeah. I like that idea.â he choked out, clearing his throat before finishing his beer. âlead the way.â he urged, longing to feel any sort of touch from her.

As Louisa worked to dry off some glasses, she could hear her manager calling for her to do something. She waved him off, picking her head up and looking over at Kellan. âWhat is he yelling about?â she asked, shaking her head as she put the rag and glass down and walked over to him. âI swear, he yells just to hear himself talk.â
Kellan had brought the last load of clean dish wear back from the dish room. His shift was no where near close to being over and his managerâs shrill voice was already getting on his nerves. âwho even fucking knows.â he said with a roll of his eyes. He was thankful to have Louisa on the schedule for the night, someone who seemingly shared in his distain for the manager. âI donât even know why Anderâs hired him. Heâs such an asshole.â

âSome of them are truly the worst, always talking shit behind my back too,â Aurora rolled her eyes. She sometimes felt like she was back in high school when it came to working her shifts at the diner. Why were some people just so immature? âSheâs doing real good, she keeps on asking when sheâs seeing daddy next so,â she admitted as she took another long sip of her beer. She was starting to feel pretty good. Sighing, she glances back at Kellan more. Jesus, doing this small talk shit with him was killing her. âDo you want to keep on making awkward conversation or do you want to get out of here and do something more interesting?â Aurora asked.
â I donât know why you stay there to be honest. Iâm sure you have skills that could be used somewhere else and could make way more money than at some diner.â Kellan admitted with a shrug. His demeanor changed as she stated that Serenity had been asking about him. He felt like complete garbage for not only leaving Aurora but also leaving behind the small girl. The words rung loud and stung as he nodded his head, not knowing how to respond as he downed a large portion of beer. âwhat did you have in mind?â he finally questioned, his brow perking in curiosity at her statement.Â
rorathatcherâ:
Aurora simply nodded her head as she made her way back over to the bar. Even though she didnât like to admit it, she was quite the light weight and if she didnât pace herself, she was a goner. Taking a seat next to her ex, she took the beer and sipped on it. âYeah, donât test your luck,â she raised a brow at him. God, he could just get under his skin but she couldnât deny that even after all these years, they still clicked. He was her first love anyways and that was never going to change. âSo, do you want to have Serenity for a night or two this week? I have a few closing shifts. None of the bitches at work will trade for me.â
â trust me, I know better than that.â he joked, his free hand rising up in faux defense. There was something about Aurora that always drew him in. He hated that it was so clichĂ© for him to think but she was like a drug to him. He could never get enough. âthose bitches.â he echoed, taking another drink. âyeah, that shouldnât be an issue. I have a few nights off this week.â He nodded, throwing a glance her way. âhowâs she doing?âÂ

Her hands dropped from the door knob as she took a step towards the man. The dread in her stomach was making her sick and when he mentioned calling 911 it only made her feel worse. Almost as it was condemning her Grandmaâs fate. âI just need to get the door openâ, Elise said like she was trying to convince herself more then the other.
â this is actually your grandmotherâs house, right? Iâd hate to go through all this trouble to be arrested as your accomplice for this b&e...â He questioned, knowing it might have made it sound like a dick but he had to cover his own tracks. âIâm horrible at picking locks but I can attempt to knock it down if you want? Iâll pay to have it fixed too afterwards.â
rorathatcherâ:
In the moment, Aurora wanted to just walk away. It would probably be the easier choice. But, there was just something about Kellan that both got under her skin and drew her back to him. She narrowed her eyes and sighed. âAlright,â she spoke out. âOne beer and one beer only, okay? I think we both know what happens to me if I get too liquored up,â she added on. Aurora liked to think she knew how to cut herself now in her slightly older age, but she could still get crazy. Crazy things usually let to bad things.
A shocked look fell on Kellanâs face which he swiftly brushed off, hoping she hadnât picked up on it. âalrightâ he echoed, he tone more on the excited side. He couldnât help but laugh at her comment, they in fact did know what happened. Look at their daughter for example A. âI promise not to get you too wasted.â he joked, trying to make things light. Kellan made his way to the bar ordering the two a beer each. âhere you go. Youâre âoneâ beer as requested.â he mused, bringing he glass rim to his lips. âIâm surprised you said yes though, honestly.â Kellan was surprised he said anything about it, heâs learned to not question when Aurora gives into him even in the slightest.Â

Aurora couldnât escape it, she rolled her eyes at the taller boy. She was already rather annoyed seeing his presence at the club, this interaction didnât help her mood at all. âIâd love to have another beer,â she began to speak, glancing up at him. âBut, I have shit to do and important club business to take care of,â Rora spoke out bluntly and as a matter of fact, it was the truth. Being up in the ranks with the Iron Kings now mean she had more responsibility on her shoulders to keep the club going.
Although it would be hard for him to admit due to their estrangement Kellan was proud of Aurora for making it all the way to the clubâs treasurer position. He had always admired her drive and secretly hoped it would be something Serenity got from her rather than his cowardliness. âoh come on Ror, just one beer. it wonât hurt anything, Iâm sure Ander will forgive this one time.â he insisted, flashing her a small sheepish grin. He figured why not press the issue once more, if she said no again heâd drop the subject all together.Â

Tears pricked at her eyes as her calls went unanswered. Sheâd been preparing for something like this to happen since the doctors reported Nanaâs ever growing health issues, but nothing could have prepared her for it. Looking over her shoulder while still trying to will the door to open, Elise couldnât hide the panic in her voice. âI canât get the door open. My Nana, sheâs not answering and I get get in the house.â
Kellan immediately regretted asking if the girl was okay but he knew heâd feel bad if he just walked on now after her response. He let out a cough to clear his throat as he took a step forward towards the girl. âdo you want help? Have you tried calling 911?â

Aurora found herself at the club house in the late afternoon, having worked the morning shift at the diner. Serenity was spending the day with her grandmother, which left her free. She needed to talk to a few members about club related things, plus, having a cold one seemed like a perfect way to spend her night. The young blonde had just gotten done finishing off her first round when she noticed him. The ex and her estranged husband. She almost wanted to cackle when she saw that he spotted her, running off like the coward he was towards the bathroom. Cornering him as he got out, she let a smirk form on her lips.
âShould probably watch where youâre going, huh?â
âyeah I guess I should huh.â he replied, his tone soft. Wow, did he sound like an idiot or what? He never knew what to say to Aurora without digging himself deeper into the ditch he had dug himself. âuh..â he started to say before trailing off, running his hand through his hair. âcan I get your a beer or something for almost running you over?â he finally asked, has finger pointing towards the bar.

Kellan sat hunched over on the bar stool as he nursed the cold beer before him. He liked to live by the Nick Miller philosophy of â You treat an outside wound with rubbing alcohol, you treat an inside wound with drinking alcohol. â Finally knocking the rest back he ordered another before hopping up, knowing breaking the seal was the wrong idea but man, did he had to take a leak. The man was lost in thought, not even glancing to those around him as he made the familiar beeline for the men's room. That was until the sight of his ex? wife caught his attention in his peripheral. He cleared his throat as he passed, trying to act as if he hadnât spotted her. Making his trip to the bathroom short he wanted to get back to the other side of the club as soon as possible. That was until he came out, wiping his freshly cleaned hands on his jeans, not paying attention to where he was going. âmy bad.â he mumbled as he tried to push past.

The blonde couldnât believe it. âGramâ, she called as she tried to rattle the door open. âGrandma! Gram, open the door. Please open the door!â Leaving her keys in the lock, Elise ran her hands though her darkened waves and tried to not cry. Anything could be awaiting her on the other side of the of the thick wooden door, and there was a quiet which filled her heart with dread. She turned the handle, back and forth but when the door wouldnât budge the girl resorted to banging on it again. âGrandma! Grandma its Elise!â
It was rare for Kellan to be on this part of town, youâd hardly ever catch him over near Capuletâs Corner. Not only did he live in the complete opposite direction but he also stuck out like a sore thumb. None the less he was over here as he killed time before his shift, taking in a more scenic route of Abernathy. The dark haired man paid no mind at first as he heard the girl call out to her grandmother. He had his own family issues and he wasnât about to get caught up in someone else. That was until he could detect the worry in her tone. âhey, you all good?â he called out as he stopped on the side walk. âneed help?â

Taking a long drag off of his unfiltered, he struggled to keep it lit. It was a shitty packing job. Heâd never been the best at rolling cigarettes, and sure as shit not as good as his brotherâs. Dallon flicked the end of the cig to remove the ashes but it was so loosely packed he ended up not just taking off the ashes but the cherry and half the tobacco as well. âSon of a bitchâ, he mumbled before looking up. âAye! You, got a smoke I can bum?â
The man spent a lot of his time around booze be it at work at the Aviary or at the Iron Kingâs Club House. This liquid habit he was picking up was also causing him to pick up a smoking one as well. Kellan stepped out side, the fresh Georgia air hitting him like a ton of bricks as he took in a deep inhale which was quickly followed by a small cough which he chased with a sip of his drink in hand. Hearing a familiar voice call out his way he looked up, happy to see a good friend on the other end of it. âyeah man, hold on.â he mused as he fished in his jean pockets, pulling the pack out. He took one out for himself, placing it between his lips before handing the pack over. âneed me to light it for you too?â he teased as he fished his red bic from his pocket.
