We live in a generation where everyone is respected for being a human being, but discriminated for not being the right one. We are hated for parts of ourselves that we can't change. We are targeted with attacks because of our religion or our race or our sexuality. We live through screens of all types and sizes and breathe in social media platforms like they are our oxygen. We feed off drama and scan our eyes for hours over profiles of people we do or don't know. We hold dangerous protests and commit crimes in order to prove points and we go into wars over disagreements. We live in a generation where we are afraid to be ourselves and we live in fear of our own kind. That is the world we live in.

Addiction

I'm sorry doctor but why am I here? Addiction? I'm here to talk about my addiction? Oh please, everyone gets addicted to something. Especially when they are in great need to take a pain away. Some people get addicted to alcohol, some to drugs, and some to cutting. If I must say, I'm not addicted to any. I have an addiction I can't control. What am I addicted to? I'm addicted to another human being. He was supposed to help me take the pain away. I thought he was my salvation so I took him in like a cure. In reality he was my poison. A devil disguised as an angel helping me with my own self-destruction. I try to leave but always come back. I just can't help it; he's really addictive.

Love Isn't

You say you love me; but do you really? Do you know how worthless you make me feel? Love isn’t supposed to treat people the way you treat me. Love isn’t supposed to hurt. You say I’m a fuck-up. I’m stupid. I’m a bitch. I’m never good enough. Each word ricocheting into my mind. Love isn’t meant to be abusive; the way you verbally abuse me. It’s not supposed to be “baby I love you” one day then the very next day “I could care less about what happens to you. It’s supposed to be the absence of judgement. It’s supposed to be comforting. It’s supposed to make you feel safe. It’s supposed to give you a lifelong bestfriend who helps you grow as a person. Love is supposed to give you butterflies in your tummy. It’s supposed to be kind. Love isn’t made to make you feel broken and shattered. Love isn’t meant to be a nightmare; a war. I guess everything I thought love was supposed to be, love isn’t.

All it takes is a beautiful fake smile to hide an injured soul and they will never notice how broken you really are.
