Can kemetics get tattoos? For some reason I remember reading somewhere that a body was made impure and therefore unfit to be presented to the Netjeru once you get a tattoo, and honestly that's one of the only reasons I've been holding off on my ink

Kemetics can get tattoos. Plenty of Kemetics have them, and it’s been shown that at least some people in AE had them, though our understanding of the role that tattoos played in antiquity is pretty limited.

But as far as I know, there is no proscription against tattoos.

I heard some women in AE got tattoos for fertility or protection.

Amunet had a lot of dots or geometric patterns on her body and she was (what I read) a priestess of Hathor.

Also, female nubian mummies were found with tattoos that resemble Bes. The tattoo’s were mainly on the thighs and were there for protection during pregnancies and birth,

Khonsu E-Shrine

Hi!

I will not be as active as I’d like to be because of personal issues. Also, WR and Epag days are coming up, plus I have to plan a day for Djehuty in before the actual Epag days so its a bit stressful!

Hey, I saw a post somewhere about there being an extra day of Wep Ronpet this year for Djehuty bc it's a leap year or something? Can you explain what that's about?

I don’t know all of the details as I haven’t been on KO’s boards in a long time. The closest that I know is that whenever there is a leap year, a epag  day 0 is added to the front of the epag days in honor of Thoth. It’s a modern creation, I know that much, but I don’t know the specifics about why she chose to add it in, or why Thoth specifically is honored. Perhaps someone who is from KO can answer the question better?

I'm not in KO but I heard it had to do with, that Thoth played Senet against the moon.

Why they worship Thoth in particular then is also a mystery to me.

I seem to have a luck streak again and I suspect Set of being the ‘culprit’.

HSA will finally have his own shrine! My parents sat together and I talked to them about what I had in mind. My dad knows a good carpenter and he could ask him for a custom built cabinet.

I measured out and also had to choose a wood type. I went with Walnut as my main choice and (if the carpenter doesnt have it) dark oak as my alternative.

I wanted Mahogany as an alternative but I heard they most likely wont because for Mahogany you’d have to chop trees away from the rainforest, which I dont really want. I dont want to live with the thought that one more chunk is gone.

But yes! Shrine cabinet! Hooray!

I really need someone helping me with a tarot reading intepretation regarding a deity

I used the Deity Dossier spread since thats the only thing that works. It’s an 18 card long spread and I also pulled some random runes and threw them in front of me and they made an almost perfect Celtic Cross.

I’m not sure how to interpret both things so if someone would like to drop an IM, that would be splendid. I especially need someone for the tarot thing!

Dreams I cant explain: The Voice

I had this weird dream and somehow I was pulled into it so much I slept really long (sometimes 9-10 hours) over several days. The dreams were several parts but they connect into a whole so I will put them together.

In that dream, I was in the woods and it rained slightly, it was more wet fog than rain to be honest.

I continued to walk down a long gravel path, the path was a bit flooded but the water mysteriously curved away from me, as if it was allowing me a dry path to walk on.

I heard this voice (I couldnt define if it was male or female) that said the following to me:

“Sweet child. Free yourself from those vines that hold you back. Let them go. Follow me. You will be okay. Gods will watch over you. Reach out for me and take my hand. I’ll take you to a place safe.”

So I reached with my hand into a supposed nothing. But suddenly I felt this pull as if I was falling and blacked out. When I came back to myself, I was lying on a bed and I saw that there were like 4 black dogs lying by my bedside. There was this thin dark-skinned woman with a red dress and she was talking to me but I couldnt understand her, it sounded really really muffled. I heard two dogs barking outside where I was in (it looked like a huge clay house) and I heard the woman yell something that sounded like “Anubis! Set! Stop it!”

I also heard something squeaking and sliding, possibly something spinning. I wanted to look where it came from but I only saw a muscular dark-skinned man sitting before the bed on a chair and his arms moved (I believe it was Khnum and a pottery wheel).

Thats when I woke up. I dont know what this dream means or what its trying to tell me.

What I pull out of this is, it was definitely a god-based dream. And it was about AE gods because 4 is the number of completion. The talking part where something talked to me most likely mentioned my recent situation. The woman? No idea. She knew who Anubis and Set were. And Khnum was most likely working on something. Overall, I need more information as to what that dream meant.

After a huge mess and a messed up candle, I'm finally done with making Wep Ronpet candles! I used the jars which stored Kyphi, to make selfmade candles. I have a candle kit with a huge batch of clear/white wax and small blue/yellow/red wax pellets. I have two bigger jars and three smaller ones, the bigger ones are used for the end and start of the Epag days! So in order with color and scent are: - Wesir/Osiris: Dark green + Lily - Heru-wer: Vermillion (I wanted orange) + Orange - Set: Red + Patchouli - Aset: Blue + Lotus - Nebt-het/Nephthys: Black + Jasmin Obviously, I looked at the Wepwawet Wiki for scents and colors. I tried to make the black color with black candles I had but it didnt work so I used half a crushed charcoal disk! It worked perfectly and I really like how the candles turned out, still bummed about the vermillion not being orange but at least you can tell it apart from the Set candle. :P

Whats a good food offering for Heru-Wer? I see he likes alcohol but I don’t drink :/

I heard dark chocolate and oranges are popular. Beer was a staple in AE, same as bread. I don’t think alcohol-free beer is a good suggestion though, so I think dark coffee? Like, literally freshly brewed dark coffee without sugar or milk.

Sorry for not really posting on this blog, I’m preparing for Wep Ronpet (which for me is in almost 3 weeks. The Epag Days start in about 2 weeks and I still need to prepare a lot of things and get lots of things.

I’m already thinking about making candles for the deities and carving their hieroglyphs on it. So I need Crayola’s for more color variety.

I’m thinking green for Wesir, yellow for Heru-wer, red for Set, blue for Aset and black for Nebt-het. 

My Kyphi jars have all been put together into one black stone jar with an airtight seal, my mum joked about the jar looking like an urn but it looks very elegant. The 5 jars where the Kyphi was in now have their labels removed and are ready to be filled with wax. I do have a batch of paraffin wax from a candle making kit but it only came with three small packages of colored pellets.. I think Crayola’s will give more colorful results!

So after work I grab a bowl of raspberry sorbet, then grab a slice of pizza and ask for a 1809 Berliner-weisse. The 1809 isn’t available but they have a raspberry berliner-weisse. Go to a coffee shop for a mocha and I’m trying the flavorings in consecutive order. Next up: raspberry. Afterwards I went shopping where they had a produce special on, raspberries. The bakery was giving away free samples of raspberry muffins. I decided to buy a brand of gelato unfamiliar to me so I took whatever one was first in the left hand side of the top row. Yep, it was raspberry. So which Netjer keeps giving me the raspberry?

I was going around on Wepwawet Wiki and reading entries about deities. One I can remember is Hathor? On the offering list, there was an entry for raspberries.

YMMV of course, it can be any other deity.

Does Anubis like musky incense or myrrh? Is there a list of incenses the gods like?

I have quite a lot of gods in my lineup and all of them like the standard frankincense and/or myrrh. YMMV of course.

The Wepwawet Wiki should have quite some info about some deities, sometimes there is more and sometimes there is less. But Anubis should have quite some stuff on it.

Honestly there’s something deeply moving about reading something about a deity and feeling it resonate in your soul, and suddenly it’s as if this ancient being is there with you, helping you breathe, and you want nothing more than to lay under the stars and feel that presence.
