You Can’t Outrun The Truth || Arena Day Three
Kendall wakes with a scream as she feels herself being pulled into the forest, a large thick root wrapped around her ankle. Before she can even think of grabbing her knife to try and free herself, branches and underbrush are cutting into her face and neck and she raises her hands protectively, hoping wherever the area was taking her, it wouldn't be as bad as fighting a snow leopard.
When her body finally skidded to a stop, her leg freed and her body banged up a bit from the impromptu trip, she pushed herself up, finding herself surrounded by trees and trees? Was that it? OF COURSE NOT. It's then that she spots two shadows approaching, silhouettes, in fact, and she immediately recognizes the shapes of them.
"Dad? M-mom?" She calls out, her voice breaking as the two figures step into the light.
Arena Day Two
Notable events
I woke up to find Rat cussing me out for having fallen asleep on watch, but even worse, I was frozen to the ground and the mouth of the cave had a thick sheet of ice coving it. I managed to free myself and he peaced out without taking a piece of me with him thankfully. I wandered around a bit coughing and sneezing, beforeI found a great spot to view the arena at. After, I found a bridge to take me to a neon forest and pissed on a snowman, staling his hat so I could make it to the warm place. Then I want to sleep to the sound of screams and terror.
Current location
On the edge of the neon forest island (approx in the 8 o’clock position)
Injuries
Four large gashes on left shoulder/upper arm (stitched, cleaned, and healing), scratches on abdomen (cleaned and healed)
Weapons
Hunting Knife
Items
1 Water Bottle, Persimmon, First Aid Kit (2 rolls of bandages, a needle, 1 oz antiseptic cream), Thermal Blanket, Rope, Stylish Snowman Top Hat
Eaten
1 Water Bottle, 1 Large Carrot Nose, 1 Loaf Bread, Baggie Strawberries
WE’RE ALIVE BUT WE’RE DEAD || Arena Day 2
Kendall walked until the bridge was out of her field of vision, being sure to stick to the edge of the island. The screams and fighting continued and she could feel her heart pound in her chest. If the fighting continued, though, it meant no one was coming for her, at least.
Finishing the second bottle of water and the left over bread, she sighed in contentment at the fact that she was no longer freezing to death. Using the blanket as a pillow, she laid down, suddenly feeling exhausted. The coughs and sneezes that had started in the wintery biome had yet to abate and a throbbing headache had joined the symptoms.
Apparently the day had really taken a lot out of her- which did not bode well for Day 3- and she fell asleep to a soundtrack of murder and horror.
It’s Hard To Run When You Can’t Feel Your Toes || Arena Day Two
continuing on her way across the bridge.
Because you’re just so kewl and so quirky, you destroy the snowman and make your way across the bridge. Four for you, Susan. Once you make it across the bridge, you immediately hear the sounds of screams and fighting coming from inside the forest.
Screams and fighting. Perf.
The climate is ideal, but there’s obviously bad shit going on inside the forest, shit that is not conducive to cool hats and- you know- life. Clearly these forests are just not safe for weary travelers. Sigh.
Instead, Kendall starts moving around the edge of the island, staying out of the outskirts of the forest wanting to put some distance between her and the bridge. It would be better to hang out in the tundra, but it was cold af and she was not about that winter life.
It’s Hard To Run When You Can’t Feel Your Toes || Arena Day Two
With feeling barely in her fingers, and a cough that has only gotten worse, she decides to keep walking, her eyes on the neon island in hopes that it might be a bit warmer.
After heading back towards the bridge, you find that you are no longer alone once again. Standing in front of the bridge is a snowman. In fact, it looks as if the snowman is blocking your way to the bridge.
Kendall tilted her head as she came upon the bridge, finding a snowman in her direct path. It was only made of snow, though, and was completely inanimate, so she kicked it down and then pissed on it to melt the snow to make her a nice path. She grabbed the carrot nose, taking a bite out of it, and twirling hat on her finger like someone from the olden days before putting the top hat on her own head and continuing on her way across the bridge.
It’s Hard To Run When You Can’t Feel Your Toes || Arena Day Two
Munching on her piece of bread, she continued walking, her knife held tightly in her right hand in case she ran into someone, or something, else.
Eventually, after a while of walking, you find yourself looking out at the edge of the island. From where you are standing, you can pretty much see all of the other islands. You can see the dark mass that was once the bloodbath island, the dense forest that is the neon forest, and the dry, dusty desert. Aren’t the gamemakers so nice? Such a scenic view is not something that everyone can say they’ve experienced in their lifetime. What do you do? Do you continue to look at the scenery or do you go back into the icy forest.
The view Kendall stumbles upon is one that she hadn’t thought she could have ever even imagined. Far off she could see the island that they had all started off at, and despite getting mauled by a snow leopard, she was a lot happier to be not there. To one side is an island covered in sand and...sand. The other, however, looks pretty nice.

It’s Hard To Run When You Can’t Feel Your Toes || Arena Day Two
Kendall had barely been walking five minutes- at least it felt like only five minutes, she a glint of shining metal caught her eye. Reaching down, she picked up the container, opening it to reveal liquid iodine and some bread. She still had about half of that bottle full, but as a runner, she knew how important water was.
Thankful that she had saved her empty bottle from the night before, she began melting snow in her hands, trying to funnel the water into the bottle. She had no idea how long it took, but finally the bottle was full. She added two drops of iodine to the clear looking water- just in case- and tucked the bottle and half of the loaf of bread into her bag. Her stomach growled in protest as pulled on her backpack once more, but she knew that she would want that bread for later.
Munching on her piece of bread, she continued walking, her knife held tightly in her right hand in case she ran into someone, or something, else.
As Kendall begins her icy walk, she sees a small silver parachute drift down to meet her. Picking it up and examining the contents, she finds a small loaf of bread and some iodine. There is no attached note.
An Icy Awakening || Arena Day Two
Kendall was woken suddenly by the sound of Ratsis cussing her out and she almost screamed when she realized her feet were frozen to the floor. No, no, no no, no! Her heart hammered in her chest as she shifted, ignoring the pain that shot down her arm, in order to stand. This could not be happening.
This was easily the worst thing that they had thrown at her so far. If there was one thing she absolutely hated, one thing that always managed to get under her skin, it was being physically confined. Not only was she trapped in a small cave with someone who could easily kill her- and was spitting mad- but she was also trapped in her spot, her feet completely frozen to the ground.
It took everything she had not to outwardly show how much the whole thing was freaking her out. Sniffing loudly- great, was she sick too??- she tucked her cold, stiff fingers under her arms, squatting down to try and roll herself into a ball to try and contain any of her body heat.
Once she could feel her fingers again, she scrabbled at the ice around her feet, her heart rate picking up once more as she found the ice to be sound and solid. A little ways away was her bag, though, and the sheet of ice encasing it didn’t seem as thick.
Gritting her teeth, she used the newly regained heat in her hands to melt the ice around the bag, tucking her fingers under her arms, and in the crook of her knees alternatively in order to rewarm them until she had melt enough to get the bag open and retrieve her hunting knife.
From there, things went a bit more quickly as she began to hack away at the ice around her feet, trying to channel all of her anxious energy into freeing herself. In the mean time, Rat, who had had more matches, had melted his way out and began trying to break through the ice that was trapping them in the cave.
As soon as she finally managed to cut through the ice enough to free her feet, she took off her shoes and curled up into a ball under her blanket, trying to warm her extremities. When she had stopped shaking enough for her to use fine motor skills and her teeth had stopped chattering loud enough to wake the dead, she emerged once more, sliding her damp, but no longer frozen shoes on, and moved over to help Rat cut them a way out of the cave.
The ice gave way to the combination of blades and fire and Rat left her a parting gift of his snotty mucus- as well as a his cold, apparently- before hightailing it out of there. As unpleasant as it was, at least she was still alive for the time being.
Kendall decided to linger a bit longer, hovering around what was left of the small fire he had lit, warming her feet and curling up in her blanket, her eyes trained on the entrance. She munched on her persimmon and took a few sips of her second water bottle, keeping her weaker left hand wrapped around her knife and hoping that nothing and no one would stumble upon her.
Once the final flame died, leaving nothing but ash, she knew she had to get moving. Sighing to herself, she forced herself up, moving out to the mouth of the cave. She knew Rat had gone north, looking for the bridge that might lead back to the initial bloodbath area and she hoped she had waited long enough to put enough distance between them.
Knowing she couldn’t put off moving any longer, she wrapped her blanket around herself, using the backpack to hold it relatively in place, and began walking north, making sure to stay near the edge of the island.
Arena Day One
Notable events
I survived the bloodbath and managed to make it our with a black pack as well. Unfortunately, I soon found my way into a snowy forest that was very cold and very dark. It didn't take me long to get fed up with the arena and I began to back track hoping to find somewhere a bit warmer. Unfortunately, a large snow leopard didn’t seem too fond off that course of action, and I ended up having my arm nearly torn off. When I was finally able to get away, I wandered into a cave where Ratsis- the boy from the party that one time- was resting. He decided not to kill me- for whatever reason- and we agreed on a temporary truce.

Truce || Arena Day 1 || Ratsis & Kendall
“This is better than nothing.” I shrug, “I was hoping to get back out to where this shit show began and try one of those other bridges but it’s started to get dark and I didn’t want to be stuck out in the woods all night.” I paused when she moved to the mouth of the cave and retrieve a package intended for her.
“Hold that thought.” I said as I gathered some branches and stones from the snowy ground and brought them into the cave, setting up a teepee model on the ground and striking a match, the heat of the flames overcoming my senses. I chuckled softly when she asked me to thread a needle, “I might be able to help you out.” I said, letting the statement hang in the air before cracking a smile and taking the supplies from her. Truthfully I couldn’t be fucked to help the competition, but for now…we did call a truce, “Do you know how to stitch?” I asked, nodding to the wound before giving her the threaded needle.
I nodded, but didn’t respond. It didn’t surprise me at all that he wanted to hunt people down, to make his mark. That said, I knew I wanted to do the exact opposite and so far, all I had to show for it was a torn up shoulder and a tentative truce with someone who could kill me in a second.
When he left the cave, I watched absently as he moved away, returning with some sticks for a fire. I could barely feel my arm any more and I knew that the drugs were kicking in. I blinked as he offered a maybe, but gave a placid smile when he did it anyway.
Accepting the needle back, she pulled the strap of the tank down a bit for better access to the wound site. The thick, oozing blood was still going and she pushed the needle through the skin, pulling it through on the other side. Stitch up your own shoulder was a lot harder than one might think, especially when you were stitching up four different gashes.
“I can. It was something we all learned in Six after the war started. Tanks and aircrafts are pretty important assets.”
Truce || Arena Day 1 || Ratsis & Kendall
We locked gazes for a moment. Truth be told I wouldn’t mind doing the same but let’s face it, how much trust can you put into someone you talked to for a few minutes when your life is on the line? Not much. Hell I wouldn’t trust me under these circumstances, “If that’s the case, then consider this a truce.” I said flatly with a shrug. I had plenty of resources around me should she try and pull a fast one.
I sat down on the stone floor and pulled the blanket around me, “Leopard, eh? All I had was a distant relative tailing me for a while.” I said pulling out the bottle of water and taking a sip before going back to my soup as I watched her settle down a few paces from me, “See anyone else on your way over?” I asked. I hadn’t seen anyone since the bloodbath.
To say I was surprised when he offered a truce was a massive understatement, but without any other options, I decide to take it at face value. I don’t trust him, not as far as I could throw this entire cave, but it’s not like I have the energy or ability to try and fight him, so instead I nod slightly and move to sit. Before I do, I spot a silver box and tuck my knife away so I can grab it.
Inside is a blanket and a morphling and I want to cry with relief. I barely notice the cold stone when I sit, too eager for some relief for my pain. Popping the cap off, I down the drug, eager for it’s effects to take hold.
“Yeah, they’re not very good hosts, despite their enthusiasm.” She replied. “But no, I didn’t I was hoping to find a warmer place, but apparently that wasn’t in the cards.”
I hissed as I slide off the bag- jostling my arm which hurt like a bitch. Rummaging for the first aid kit, I finally locate it and pull it out. I try to get the thread through the needle with one hand, but it soon become clear that it’s a lost cause.
“Since we’re in a truce and all, could you do me a solid and thred this needle? Doing it one handed is a bitch and a half.”
As Kendall is going about her business, a little glimmer of light catches her eye. It comes from above, and when she turns her head upwards, she finds that it is a silver box. Inside, there is a thermal blanket and a vial of morphling. There is no note.
