I'm loving the first cosplay / latest cosplay trend that's going around on Instagram right now, and it just so happens that my latest armor build is a remake of my first armor build! I think the new version looks a lot better, but the main point of redoing it was to decrease the weight. I used about x4 the worbla I should have in my first armor, because I didn't know any better, and as a result the original weighs about 7 lbs (3.18 kg). The improved version is made out of EVA foam, only weighs 1.5 lbs (.68 kg), and is much easier on my old shoulder injury. I wore the original for two days at Wizard World Des Moines, and for a photoshoot, before swearing that I'd never wear it again. It was patterned poorly and did not fit my body well, increasing my discomfort. In addition, the first version was extremely asymmetrical and had a very bumpy surface from overheating the worbla. The new belt and breastplate are made from 2mm foam with 6mm details, lined with fabric. The main pauldrons and knee guards are made from 6mm EVA foam, and the fabric pauldrons are made from Fosshape. I still love worbla, but I wanted to practice my Foamsmithing in this remake, and I wanted the shoulders as light as possible. Now if I could only get over my fear / hatred of sewing!
