ever since she’d gotten here, which was just a few weeks ago, she’d been spending time in the stables because who didn’t love horses? she was terrified to get on one because they’re so much bigger than her, but she loved to love on them and give them attention, which was exactly what she was doing. as she rubbed a horse’s head, she kissed its nose, which in turn got her sneezed on, a sharp shriek escaping her throat. “oh my god!” she said, scrunching her nose and wiping her chest off with the bottom of her shirt. “thanks a lot, but i don’t moisturize with equine snot,” she muttered. @finalgirlstarters
The stables were one of the only places of comfort that Kendall found in this hell hole, they reminded her of home. Of simpler times when she was young, going to riding lessons and feeling like she could take on the world. The feeling of flying down a trail, wind whipping through her hair, the power of the large animal beneath her, it was one of only times in her life that she ever felt truly free. A soft snicker escaped when she watched the horse sneeze on Stevie, though she quickly pursed her lips to try to stifle it. “I think it means he likes you,” she joked, pulling the carrots from her satchel and handing one to the girl in front of her. “I like to bring them snacks,” she shrugged.
HIS HEAD was spinning , his heart thumping in his chest as hard and as fast as it possibly could . someone was dead . the attack of johnny lewis had been gruesome and jarring enough , but now someone in wrenbury had actually lost their life - and in such an awful way , too . jd was struggling to make sense of it all , tears slowing falling down his cheeks because honestly he was beyond terrified . while he hadn’t known kathy all that well , it was still so close to home , such a tragedy , and something that really hit jd hard due to his past and the secrets he held .
he was walking back to his cabin after reading the disturbing news on the bulletin board , feeling sick to his stomach , lost in his own thoughts , his own fear , his panic , his dread . he - understandably - hadn’t been paying attention to his surroundings or the people around him , making him jump in fright as he accidentally bumped into someone , stepping back immediately , wiping his sorry eyes . “ sorry - i’m sorry , sorry . ” it seemed that was all he knew how to say in his current state , the only words his mind could possibly put together for him to say .
Why Kendall was still trying to get her cell phone to work, she honestly had no idea. It had been a couple weeks now, and she knew that nothing was going to happen, but there was a small bubble of hope that maybe this time would be the time that it would work, that she could get just one bar and contact someone, get some help. So absorbed in the screen, she hadn’t noticed that she was headed on a path directly into another body, and stumbled back as they collided. “Oof,” she grunted, steadying herself and looking at the boy in front of her. Her annoyance quickly turned to concern when she took in the sight of him, listened to him apologizing over and over. “Hey, it’s okay,” she assured him, offering a soft smile. “I’m tougher than I look, promise.” Kendall’s brows knit together as she watched him, sighing heavily. “Hey, do you want some tea?”
Benji felt the same uncertainty he was sure most people did, but he had less fear than he probably should. For whatever reason, he just didn’t feel like danger was imminent. There was a part of him that, despite everything that he had witnessed thus far, he felt like none of this was real. Leaned against a tree, head propped back, he glanced up the moment he noticed someone approach. “Hey,” he said. “Ever wonder if this is Hell?” @finalgirlstarters
The shock of the events that had transpired was still running through Kendall’s system, she felt both numb and hyperaware of everything around her. She should have listened, should have paid attention to her gut when it told her that coming to Wrenbury was not what she should do. But now she was stuck here, and this very clearly wasn’t a game. She was jerked out of her daze at the sound of another, coming back to herself with a sharp intake of breath. “Ever wonder if you deserve to be here?” she countered, sighing heavily. “Sorry, that was uh, very clearly projection.”
A SOFT VOICE sung over the crackling of the fire as fingers strummed skilfully on an old acoustic guitar. it could only be assumed she was singing an original - or at least an extremely indie song that no-one else knew. the blonde stopped abruptly when she’d messed up a cord upon seeing the stranger observing her. ❝ oh god i didn’t see you there, ❞ she laughed, seeing them a little clearer now from the other side of the fire, eyes focusing in on them, ❝ don’t judge me, i’m a little rusty. ❞ of course she assumed she’d be safe by the fire near the main hall - it was no different than those who sat out on the porch of the cabins at night, right ? ❝ have any song requests ? other than wonderwall ? ❞ @finalgirlstarters
The sounds of the camp wove through Kendall’s ears as she walked, making the premise of trying to clear her head a little more difficult than she had anticipated. It’s not that it was too loud, but she wanted to be away from voices. Unfortunately, to do that she would have to go nearer to the woods than she felt comfortable with. Not with everything that had been happening. The sound of a guitar caught her attention, and her footsteps changed course of their own accord, following the melody until she came upon the blonde. Kendall stood in silence for a moment, her head tilted as she let the music wash over her. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you,” she apologized, stepping closer. “No judgement, that’s far better than I could do. Know any Cults?”
hey look, it's KENDALL NASH! she’s a TWENTY-FOUR year old originally from PALO ALTO. i heard she’s pretty SOLITARY, but i think she’s so INTELLIGENT at the same time. while she’s terrified of being harmed, she’s perhaps more afraid of people finding out SHE RAN AWAY FROM HOME AT SEVENTEEN AFTER GETTING PREGNANT AND GAVE HER CHILD UP FOR ADOPTION. she had no idea what she was getting herself into when she moved to wrenbury.
hlo! i’m trace nd this is one of my og trash children, nd here’s a little bit abt both of us (tw: pregnancy, drug use, alcohol use):
Kendall Nash grew up in a broken household in Palo Alto, California. From the outside it looked like her life was great, a large house, her daddy’s gold card available at her disposal, the popular girl in high school. But dig a little deeper and you start to see the cracks. Divorced parents always at each others’ throats, a new step mother every couple of years, a mother who was more concerned with her own reflection than if her daughter was okay or not, and a brother who used their closeness to emotionally manipulate her. Parker was her best friend, without a doubt. They were a year and a half apart, but they could have been twins. But Parker had a darkness about him, something that Kendall was blinded to, and something that inevitably always got her in trouble.
Kendall didn’t want to blame things in her life on other people, she knows that she made the decisions she did, but sometimes she can’t help but wonder if she didn’t have Parker whispering in her ear to try alcohol at thirteen, drugs at fourteen, if her life would have been different. However awful Parker could be, there was one good things about him. Drake, his best friend. Someone Kendall actually despised for the longest time, until Parker almost completely broke her, and Drake was there to pick up the pieces. Kendall found herself spending more and more time with Drake, and their progression into a relationship was one of the most natural things she’d experienced in her life.
Until she found out that she was pregnant. Not wanting Drake to think that she was trying to trap him, or even worse, not wanting him to bolt when he found out, Kendall took it upon herself to be the one to leave. A forward thinker, she’d been stashing cash from the time she was twelve years old, and used her savings to skip town. She thought about not going through with the pregnancy, but couldn’t bring herself to do it, and instead ended up in Phoenix, Arizona for the birth, and immediately gave the baby boy up for adoption. She only held him once, but that was all it took to know she couldn’t do it herself.
Since then, Kendall has been on the move, never staying in one place longer than a year. Well, that is, until moving to Wrenbury. As she’s coming to find out, leaving the camp might be the hardest move she’s had yet.
