Ya'll why are people still so adamant to prove that the father son approach for Hank and Connor is not a canonical approach by game devs? It's so funny istg!😭 People keep using Adam's example with the cop and compare it with Hank and Connor. Yeah, because I think you completely missed out on how Hank and Connor had a whole ass story and were basically one of the main characters. There were already many indications of a parental-child bond *confirmed* by the Cage and Williams.

Honestly? Where??? From personal experience, when I encountered the game for the first time, I saw Connor as a son/best friend to Hank even before Hank called him "son". I knew about the existence of the ship only after I entered the fandom. So, It's just not Hank calling Connor "son" that made us see the familial bond, it was basically all of the interactions throughout.

You saw something I didn't see? Totally valid. But why do you want to prove that whatever the game developers said about the "found family" arc is all just a lie, or a way to be homophobic? Like honestly what?

At this point, why don't you just enjoy your ship or whatever ya'll fw instead of trying to prove that the words out of the game CREATOR's mouth is just pretense?

[My credentials before blabbering: I’ve been in fandom for years, I used to be an Anderfam enjoyer but the fandom ruined it for me, I enjoy art and conversations about both sides anyway]

The reason why a lot of Hankcon shippers look for romantic interactions in-game is because a large sum of Anderfam enjoyers call the ship incestuous. There’s a lot more to the arguments about Hankcon vs Anderfam than what’s canon, and the posts you may have seen that touch on Hankcon moments in-game are likely out of defending rather than complaining.

For example, TikTok’s Hank and Connor discourse is really disturbing. Most see them as found family, but instead of minding their own business, are fucking obsessed over Hankcon for some reason. They call the shippers pedophiles (because of the age gap, which truly isn’t a problem but I won’t get into that), proshippers, incests, and other problematic names of that nature. Hankcon shippers are often told to kill themselves. Lots of people who like Anderfam unfortunately think they have the moral high ground and can say this! That isn’t just on TikTok, by the way. I’ve seen it on Tumblr as well, and I’m sure it’s on every other website.

So, taking that into perspective, you can understand why people are “so adamant” on proving why Hankcon can be found in the game. It’s not to be right, exactly, but it’s sort of to defend against the way much of the fandom treats the shippers.

(Also, just as a bonus, fandoms don’t always roll with what the creators say. If something is confirmed after the piece of media is put out into the world, it’s just as much of a headcanon as something anyone else could say, no matter if it was intended to be in said media or not. Plus, people ignore canon anyway. It’s fandom. But real life people are threatened and mocked because they don’t follow the norm.)
