Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I have much to be thankful for.
I just want to take this time to thank YOU for being apart of my life.
God bless you and your family.
Thankful
Thanksgiving is coming in a couple of days. What are you thankful for? I think I'll get a list going in a couple of days.

What would you do if you could see how much time you had left to live??
In Time Film Review
In Time brings a new meaning to the phrase,”Time is money”. A place where the rich can live forever and the poor die young. Unlike how money is handled nowadays … you don’t get a second chance, once you time out, you’re gone for good. You’re given a certain amount of time that cannot be touched by anyone until you turn 25. Once you do, you stay that way forever.
*WARNING* Spoilers after this point!———————————
This movie touches upon a lot of things, but I don’t think it really addresses any of the issues properly:
You stop aging at the age of 25. The concept of immortality and eternal youth. Will humans really be able to tap into that and harness it? Is it really a good thing? All the people seemed to all be perfectly healthy, it was just a matter of how much time they had to live that they had to worry about.
Social Darwinism. Survival of the fittest. Since health didn’t seem like an issue, the next step in the evolutionary elimination seems to be currency, but they never really addressed WHO controlled the “Clock”. Humans are once again trying to play god and now, in this world, it’s almost successful, but at the same time, this movie shows exactly why humans cannot be gods. The film doesn’t really touch upon how the economic or political system works in this world. There were no presidents to speak of, only the extremely valuable people who owned the big corporations. So then does knowledge also become part of the currency as well? Do these different status people get educated different like we do as well??
Human or machine? Since these people can only live by constantly recharging their time currency, essentially these “people” are like batteries or machines… not humans. Whatever happened to there being a hospital in the movie? There AREN’T any… no first aid heart pumping rescue attempts, just people lying around on the ground once they time out. Who cleans up the bodies?? If we infuse our bodies with technology more and more in the future, will it really be for the better of humanity? Or will there be a humanity to speak of if we all become machines?
“Is it considered stealing if it’s already stolen?” Morals. In a world where time is all people care about, what kinds of new morals need to be set up? What kinds of morals or ideologies become irrelevant? “Is it considered stealing if it’s already stolen?”
Time Zones… they didn’t explain that very well .. are time zones like .. wealth districts? But it kind of speaks to the socioeconomic info structure of our society today. America is a unique place where someone from way lower can work their way up from the bottom to the top wealthy class, but it is very very rare to suddenly become part of the “ruling” class. Just like JT’s character was “gifted” a century of time, but he still did not have the power or resources to make a significant change and truly have a say as part of the “ruling” class, which is different from the wealthy class.
Take risks or live a long and boring life… The main actress’ character talked about how the rich only get to keep all their ‘wealth’ if they don’t do anything foolish. The wealthy still do not have the most power. A lot of people go through the motions of day to day life and many already know the rich and famous isn’t always as glamorous as it looks to be. In this world, the rich have to protect their wealth even more so than in ours, and even further isolates themselves and block off access into their social class in order to do so.
Lastly, my friend brought up that fact that this movie is being released at an interesting time, especially with all the Occupy protests going on globally. I just watched “The Rum Diary” last week and it is also yet another story about the rage and anger people have towards those people who control most of the wealth in the world.
I don’t know if the movie intentionally set it up to be sooo vague. It really could’ve used less action sequences and spent more time explaining the workings and the ideologies of this new world, should we ever head there. One thing that did bother me was how unimportant all the other characters were portrayed in this movie. Maybe that was on purpose, but as an audience member, I did not have strong emotional reactions to the death of the main character’s mother or his best friend. Usually, these deaths should play a significant part in the character’s life, but they didn’t really emphasize it in the movie. Nor did I see a huge attachment to his late father…. or at the very end when the cop died and they were barely able to survive.
I think I need to watch this film again…. out in theaters on October 28!!

What an amazing, amazing night! It was truly an incredible experience. There’s nothing like Kollaboration. Like Kevin Park, Kollaboration Seattle’s Executive Director, had said, it’s something you have to see to really understand.
From sound check, signing, to the Red Carpet, the show, to everything that happened backstage and afterward… It was truly an incredible experience, and one I will never forget. I will never take for granted how blessed I was to be a part of something so special. My mind is still trying to wrap itself around everything that happened that night. I’m still digesting everything. lol How I performed, who I met, how amazing everyone did and how much talent there is out there, and the unexpected fire within me to do more with what I’ve been given. Kollaboration really is empowering.
I have so much more to say about that day, and I’d like to write it all down so I don’t forget a thing, but I’m absolutely starving. More to come soon.
But let me just say this: Kollaboration Seattle rocks. These are some of the best people you will ever meet.
Kay. Time for food.
