What an amazing, amazing night! It was truly an incredible experience. There's nothing like Kollaboration. Like Kevin Park, Kollaboration Seattle's Executive Director, had said, it's something you have to see to really understand.

From sound check, signing, to the Red Carpet, the show, to everything that happened backstage and afterward... It was truly an incredible experience, and one I will never forget. I will never take for granted how blessed I was to be a part of something so special. My mind is still trying to wrap itself around everything that happened that night. I'm still digesting everything. lol How I performed, who I met, how amazing everyone did and how much talent there is out there, and the unexpected fire within me to do more with what I've been given. Kollaboration really is empowering.

I have so much more to say about that day, and I'd like to write it all down so I don't forget a thing, but I'm absolutely starving. More to come soon.

But let me just say this: Kollaboration Seattle rocks. These are some of the best people you will ever meet.

I completely forgot to burn my backtrack to a CD! And the funny thing is that we usually have a stack of CDs, but we ironically used all the CDs in this house juust this past week to back up some photos from our family computer. Sweet. lol Hopefully my head's not too preoccupied with nerves in the morning that I remember to buy a CD and burn my music.

The Night Before

Tired but can't sleep because I know that once I wake up, it's going to be tomorrow, and I'm not ready to face it. haha (That's a nervous laugh, by the way.)

Everyone is so incredibly talented, and it's an honor to be performing on the same stage as those I have looked up to and have been and am continued to be inspired by. ...I just feel like an amateur next to these guys. Why did they let me through auditions?? I am obviously the underdog in this competition.

I don't have the same kind of experience as everyone else. I haven't gone on any tours. I've never had my own show... I don't have an album to sell--not even an EP. I'm still working on my own songs that I have yet to show to another living soul. I don't have thousands of subscribers on YouTube; I don't even have a hundred. I don't even have a 'Like' page on Facebook. And nope, no free giveaways from me with my name in pretty script on it...But I love music, and I love how music makes me feel. And I love singing, and if I can make people feel the same way that I feel when I listen to music, that is my only hope. Is that enough, though? I'm feeling utterly inadequate and undeserving of being a part of something like this.

I know it's going to be an incredible experience. It's one that I am so thankful for being a part of, one that I will not regret... and I know I will be walking away with wonderful memories and new friends. It's definitely going to be a lot of fun. I just hope to God I don't make Kollaboration regret putting me in the show, and I hope I won't make a mistake, sound like a fool, or show the audience too much of my awkward self. Being a dork makes up the bulk of me, though, so it'll be kind of inevitable. If you don't see it on stage, you'll see it during the Red Carpet portion of the evening for sure. You've been warned. Blwaghh...

Kollaboration Seattle's 2011 Promo Music Video

It was such an honor (and not to mention a lot of fun :) working with Edward Park (video) and Travis Graham (music). They're such gifted and kind people. Truly. Check this out. You'll see the other competitors in this video, too. We all look and sound so awesome. I'm so happy I got to be a part of this... words cannot describe. In fact, I'm usually squealing and exclaiming in nonsense syllables when I start talking about this video and showing it to whoever will let me play it for them. haha I'm such a dork. But this music video is just so cool... XD Thank you again to everyone who was involved in the making of this!

The Climb - Miley Cyrus (Cover)

Was listening to some inspirational music to help calm my nerves (Kollaboration is only a day away! Ahh...), and I decided to do a cover. This is "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus. I did this in one take, so expect to hear mistakes (sorryyy). =X lol I don't know how Gabe Bondoc does it, and not to mention it's flawless every time. I guess he's just amazing like that. ;)

Kollaboration Seattle 2 - Have you heard about it? :) (Yes? Then don't forget your ticket! :D)

Kollaboration is an annual event and movement produced by young Asian and Pacific Islander (API) professionals and students to promote a strong API presence in entertainment and media-- or so their 'About Me' section says. But I think it's more than that.

As the weeks leading up to this incredible show have passed, I am realizing more and more just how much Kollaboration is presenting me with, and I grow more humbled and thankful every day that I have been graced with such an opportunity. It's unbelievable that the show hasn't happened already, and yet I've already learned so much and met so many wonderful people. It's truly been a blessing.

The show is in two days. Actually, in three minutes, it will be in one day. I'm kind of (ok, let's be honest here...) I am super nervous. I could go on and on about my insecurities, but I'll save that for tomorrow. haha Until then, check out Kollaboration Seattle's website, and if you're in Seattle (or maybe you're not.. Why is this so hard?

I’m inspired, and yet… I’ve produced zero results.

I heard the most beautiful song with lyrics that just moved me and inspired me to start writing. I almost tripped over myself scrambling over to my piano. And then—

—nothing.

I played a small little riff, pulled up lyrics I had written on the plane, and attempted to put them together. Didn’t work. Still eager to ride this burning desire to make music, I started another riff, tried to fit lyrics to them, and after many attempts, I started to feel that fire fade… doused by my useless effort.

I’m like the Energizer bunny beating his little drum and padding his way forward, right into a brick wall. Repeatedly.

The drive is there, but something’s in my way. What is it?
