i’ve been promising this to @lakewoodsecond for a long-ass time, so uh. here’s a quick meta about that little fucking.. half-smirk / -smile i’m always mentioning. it’s another practiced mannerism and a restraint of sorts. the only times you really see a full ( albeit questioningly genuine ) smile are when he's in his charismatic teacher persona or briefly letting his guard down around someone he feels comfortable with. his smirk is closed-lipped, whereas his smiles are very, very toothy and more like a goofy grin. when he's interacting with people one-on-one or not the center of focus, his mannerisms and speech patterns are much more subdued and brief -- i.e., when he's lecturing vs. when he's talking to brooke or audrey / noah, or even emma in the interrogation room. his body language when he's in class is far more dynamic, whereas he's very still and reserved otherwise; similarly, his sentences and dialogue are longer and more eloquent during his lectures, but rather choppy and brief any other time. lazy mouth examples under the cut.
