Fall is just wonderful, and deserves all the cliche posts you can throw at it. (at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park)

A Benediction
“May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may he work in you what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ to whom be glory for ever and ever, Amen.” Hebrews 13:20-21
Guess who I ran into today? This girl who happened to get engaged today. Love you Krystal! Congratulations to you and Andrew!

We tend to reflect the things we give our attention to.
Feelings Fade.
We are humans, and that means we all have these things called emotions. Oh man. Sometimes they are the best thing ever and sometimes they are the absolute worst. They are, for some of us, very difficult to control. I don’t know about you, but there are many times I have let my emotions get the best of me, and that is when bad things happen. I say things I regret, I hurt other peoples feelings, I do stupid things. Anger, pain, heartache: a whirlwind of chaos. And when I look back, I wonder to myself, where was logic? Why, oh why, did rationality fly out the window? Feelings are difficult to control.
The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:6
There’s also the other side of feelings. The good ones. Happiness. Joy. Love. They make you feel all warm inside. They make setbacks actually seem like nothing. They put you on cloud nine. Sometimes, faith is this way. We read the word, hear a sermon, and it applies to our life. We feel good about ourselves and our faith because we can feel God’s love from the blessings, from the happy, from the good friends. Believing is easy because we can see all the good. These times are good, and we should be thankful for them. But we cannot sustain our feelings. We can't control when they fade.
We can't control what we feel, but we do get to control what we believe in spite of them.
One of the most powerful truths I ever heard was this: God’s word is still true even when it doesn't feel true.
God loves you with an unfailing love even when you fail. God is faithful even when our lives appear to be falling apart.
God is still in control when all we feel is chaos.
God has a plan even when you can’t see how the puzzle pieces are going to come together.
God is definitely at work even when our lives seem to stay the same.
God is moving mountains when all we can see is fog around us.
God’s word is still at work in your heart, shaping you to be more like Jesus.
1 Thess 2:13b “[the word of God] is indeed at work in you who believe.”
The Truth is still true even when it doesn't feel true. God’s word is packed with promises, and His will for you is good. Choose truth. Choose obedience. Chose to believe you are loved, and love in return.
Choose him when its difficult. Know that whatever the world sends your way to hurt you, he will use for your benefit. (romans 8:28) (gen 50:20)
Believe when you can’t feel. Know that he is at work even when you can’t see or feel. Following him will be worth it.
Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Nothing can separate us from his love. Not even those pesky emotions.
Notes to self from seasons past can be super encouraging.
YL winter camp at Carolina point: singing loud, climbing mountains [getting lost in the woods], and having so much fun with these girls.
