im sure many of u have already seen posts saying something similar to this but please do not let indigenous peoples day get overshadowed by coming out day on oct 11. during june, our voices were not heard when we talked about it being indigenous peoples month and not to mention this day is taking place during october. halloween has been an exhausting holiday for indigenous people for god knows how long and every year we have to beg for people not to wear our culture as a costume. and then its november and hopefully you can see how exhausting that is for us. so this oct 11, uplift indigenous ppls voices and support indigenous ppl. if you see indigenous people asking for donations, help them by donating if you can and boosting their posts. listen to indigenous ppl because everyday we have to fight tooth and nail just to be heard.
"inktober" this and "goretober" that. where's the representation for the girls who do fucking nothing
Gay love stories that are about forbidden love but not because they’re gay are great especially when they’re written by gay people
you just KNOW that if Bella had idk, worn eyeshadow? edward would have been like “oh, i can’t read the WHORE’S mind. that’s weird. anyways” and the book would have ended right there.
cannot stop thinking about how good the fabrication of consent in squid game was… like yeah, the participants consent! over and over, from agreeing to the slapping game to ringing up the number of their own accord to meeting at the location to signing a separate sheet once more upon arrival… they can even disband the game if the majority decrees it. but this is all performative. because of course they’ll agree - of course they’ll come back.
the second episode is even all about addressing this ‘consent’, and that potential audience superiority: “so why don’t they just leave???? if they can??? why did they even do all this to start with?? it’s so extreme, to do all that just for money, i would never”
because, the show says, look at what they’re returning to. look at the life that’s offered as their alternative. debt up to their ears, money-brokers beating them up, poverty at its worst. do you see? do you see how yeah, joining that game is optional, but it’s optional in the sense of choosing to be stabbed or shot: theres consent, but not actual desire. that theres agreement, but under exploitation. there’s a reason only poor people are chosen to compete and it’s so obvious but i fucking love how the show handles it and addresses any audience superiority anyway
my controversial opinion is I don't think Zuko was confused by "my first girlfriend turned into the moon"
Today I introduced my sister to “the problem of Susan” and I had to explain to her that Susan was left out of Narnia cuz she liked boys and lipstick now and without missing a beat she said but what about Peter? Does Peter not like girls? And I knew she was pointing out the inherent misogyny at the center of the “the problem of Susan” but the implications of that question are a source of much hilarity to meeee LMFAO like Does Peter not like girls? Does he like boys? Is he Gay? Is Narnia really just a homo-utopia where Lucy is also a lesbian and Edmund is a bisexual disaster and Susan was kicked out cuz she was too straight??? Can I make CS Lewis turn over in his grave with this new reading?
can we please ignore what grimes does for at least a year and see what happens? I am tired about hearing what she is doing against my will. thanks
mitski's new song 'working for the knife' is an incredible commentary on consumerism and the culture it creates where you have to cut parts of yourself away to be more marketable and easy to digest for the audience, and how this stifles creativity and individual expression and leaves you feeling burned out and directionless. my jaw is on the floor she's done it again.

url changes don’t affect me because i could recognize my mutuals by touch alone, by smell. i would know them blind, by the way their breath came and their feet struck the earth. i would know them in death, at the end of the world
look i get still liking your childhood things but....who has the actual balls to still be putting harry potter shit in their bios? like its not just a passing "i still have nostalgia for it," its blatantly advertising it to people as the first thing they see alongside your name and identities or whatever...like how do you look at what's happening socially with that series and J K teRf and just not give a fuck about what people will think when you put "hufflepuff" in your bio? like how do DO that, especially gays who do that. what is the hampster wheel in your brain doing
the fact that people treat "transfem" "transmasc" and "nonbinary" as three distinct, non overlapping categories makes me go rage mode
i see so many younger queer people on here asking stuff like “am i allowed to use this label??” “is it okay for me to use this term if it doesn’t 100% fit me?” and “am i valid if i use these labels?”
and like honestly WHAT has the queer community on this hellsite BECOME?? why have we created this weird thing of constantly wanting to be “valid” and “allowed” like kids!! you are allowed!! i promise you you’re allowed!! it’s okay!!
you are allowed to be a nonbinary lesbian you are allowed to be both bi and ace you’re allowed to use he/him pronouns and be transfem you’re allowed to be transmasc and lesbian you’re allowed to be transfem and gay you’re allowed to be both mlm and wlw at the same time you’re allowed to be nonbinary even if you’re a little bit a binary gender you are allowed!! it’s okay!!
put down your phone and go for a walk and breathe in some fresh air!! you don’t need to ask a blog on tunglr dot hell if you’re valid!! you don’t need to ask some stranger on the internet for permission to be your authentic self!! live your life! you don’t need permission and you don’t need someone to tell you you’re valid. you can live authentically and use whatever labels and pronouns you want, okay? you’re allowed. i promise. it’s okay.
man i’m seeing so many people on twitter being like. “and when mitski enters her solar power era and makes happy music and abandons y’all then what” like… how do u miss the point so bad. like idk what to tell you if you think mitski is just #sadgirlmusic like i’m so fucking sorry to her specifically for what tiktok has made her music out to be. so much of mitski’s music is her making a fictional narrative. telling stories. and y’all act like she hasn’t made a single happy song ever? just bc you’re projecting your own personal feelings on her art doesn’t mean that’s all her art is.
also even if she is making music about her own experiences. dont you want her to be happy?!?!? that would be a good thing
I'm volunteering for a literary journal right now and there's two things I think you all should know.
1. Most people that submit to literary journals are cis white men. We know this because our journal has an anonymous survey about demographics for people that submit.
2. Most things that get submitted to the creative non fiction section are on the level of middle school "What I did over the summer" essays.
I cannot see the demographics of the people whose essays I'm reading, but guys, if you are wondering if you should submit your work to a literary journal or not, I promise you that just in terms of statistics there are a lot of mediocre cis white men and people in general confidently submitting weird crap that isn't literature to literature magazines. Do it. Submit your work. Please. If you want there to be more diversity in literature, be the diversity. Do it. Do it do it do it.
