Orihime choked on a gasp when she felt the light flick on her head, stumbling back a minuscule step. Her finger tips grazed over her forehead, a pout forming on her features.
“Awah…Axel!” Orihime whined, poking his chest, trying to figure out what had happened. And then she remembered. The conversation they’d had about…
"Yeah, I died all right. It was pretty crappy but at least I went out in style!"
A laugh slipped from his lips.
"Anyway though, that's not the good news! The good news is... that I'm back and since it's taking you too long to guess it.. I have a heart now!" He smiled widely.
“What?” Orihime questioned before she reached up and took his face inbetween her hands and turning his head from side to side. It was true. His tattoos were gone…Completely! As if they’d never even existed. With a confused frown, Orihime looked up at his face again, and noticed his eyes. Darker…Ever so slightly. Not much difference, but they seemed a lot deeper than before. And don’t even get her started on his weird optimism.
“Ano…You….Had a makeover?” She questioned with a weak smile, letting go of his face before adding, “And went to a therapist to sort out your moody-ness~”
A frown touched Lea's face. 'My moody-ness?' He thought. 'What moody-ness?' He let out a sigh and gently flicked Orihime on the forehead. "No, you airhead." He huffed and folded his arms. "Come on, think a little harder, won't you?"
At Axel’s cry, Orihime jumped, though a bright smile immediatley shone on her features as she accepted the embrace and returned it to her friend. It had been forever, and she’d missed him terribly.
“Yeah! I’m so glad to see you again, Axel!” Orihime exclaimed giving him a tight squeeze, her joy overflowing before her mind drifted to the odd feeling, the weird aura around him. Axel’s spiritual presense had changed…Almost completely! It was strange and it cuased the auburn to pull back slightly and give him a curious look.
“Axel…Has something happened? To you, that is?” She inquired, tilting her head to the side, loose locks of hair shifting on her shouler.
"Hah, you mean besides my tattoos being gone?" Lea asked, smiling. It was true, the tattoos beneath his eyes were long gone as well as the previous ones he had gotten on his body. He continued to smile at her, his eyes gazing into hers. They were a different hue than before; they weren't as bright but that didn't take away their beauty or effect.
"I'll let you guess what happened to me," He said, his smile widening. He seemed much happier than before. He was full of life and bursting with joy.
The daylight sky seemed to illuminate even the darkest moods of the unusually sour girl, her aurburn hair knotty and tied in a messy bun on top of her head. Her usually rosey red skin had a slight pallor due to an exceeding amount of stress and lack of sleep. And her smile? Weel, it hadn’t been seen for days.
Her aunt had wished for her to visit her in the North, an annual trip but it was little for small talk and mostly for allowance and a lecture about the Inoue’s grades and future. Well, after listening to yet another moan about how she’d missed so much school to go back to Karakura, to help Ichigo - unbeknowst to her aunt-, Orihime had let slip about her engagement to Ulquiorra.
Those sleepless nights were spent with her and her aunt going through millions of wedding plans, her aunt and half of the family that Orihime didn’t know, getting excited and coming over to congratulate her. She’d spent over a month there, unable to get away from it all, when normally she spends a maximum of three weeks in the presense of her aunt.
At least she’d gotten three times the amount of her usual allowance. There’s always a bonus to the downers in life. With that thought, Orihime brightened up slightly, her large eyes lighting up slightly at the thought of seeing Ulquiorra again. In her bag was a variety of gifts for him.
Birthday.
Christmas.
New Years Eve.
And apology gifts.
And she was nervous. Parts of her gifts were undoubtedly going to require a lot of courage on her behalf. But, if she put her mind to it, she doubted it would go wro—-!
Her thoughts were interrupted as she hit the back of a broad-shouldered man with luscious red locks that shone like rubies in the sun. ‘Oh…it’s…’
Lea had been lost in his own thoughts as well. His legs paused during his walk and he stood in the middle of the sidewalk, hands on his hips, and a slight frown on his face. He had been thinking of Sheena, who had left to her village.. permanently. What hurt even more was that she had left right after he had gained his heart back; when he could actually love her.
Besides that he also felt guilty that he was thinking of starting a new relationship with someone else. He knew that Sheena wanted him to move on, to find someone to be with, but it didn't help to ease the guilt that he felt building up inside him when he looked in interest at another woman, wanted another woman, touched another woman. He let out a deep sigh. He figured it would talk some more time before he could cope with his situation.
While he was thinking about all of this, he was suddenly interrupted by someone bumping into his back. He blinked and then turned around when he heard his old name being called.
What or rather who he saw made him happy.
"Orihime!" He cried out in glee, his frown turning into a wide smile. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into a deep hug. "It's so wonderful to see you! It's been forever, huh?"
“Yea, it looks good. I mean it’d look better with a skirt but that’s not an option, is it?” Larxene replied light heartedly. “Now go put it on and strut that junk…!”
"Yeah, not an option," Lea said, shaking his head. He casually began to strip in front of Larxene, not caring one bit. He took off the coat and threw it on the bed; he was wearing black pants underneath it. He put on the shirt, discarded the pants, and put on the new pair of jeans. "All set."
She looks back at him and hits his head lightly “Cheer up now! I know you missed me! Can we go burn trash somewhere? I wanna know how much ok your flames you still have”
"H-Hey," Lea said, frowning at her for hitting him. He then sighed and rubbed the back of his head. "I guess... let me just finish this." He finished his popsicle and then stood up, opening a portal afterwards.
Larxene shrugged feebly. “You’re asking the wrong person man. Where’s Demyx when you need him, huh?” But even still, Larxene began picking up Lea’s clothes (albeit in a gingerly manner) and tried to put together a casual look for him.
“So what do you think?” Larxene pulled out a black deep V neck from her back as a little dorky gesture. “Anything to match this though?”
"Every girl has their preferences," Lea said, shrugging. He watched her pull out the shirt and he nodded. "Yeah, I think so." He bent over, dug through the drawer and pulled out a pair of black skinny jeans. "What about this?"
“Sounds just right for me too. Thanks Lea, for giving me this chance,” Larxene mumbled the last line softly. She held Lea’s hand reassuringly and cocked her head to his closet. “Come on, go get ready already.”
"Hey, don't mention it," Lea said, smiling. He then chuckled and headed towards his dresser. "Yeah, yeah. I know." He opened up a drawer and began to ruffle through his clothing. "Uhh... what should I wear?" He asked her, gesturing for her to look through the clothes all thrown messily in the drawer. There were t-shirts to cardigans to sweaters in there along with jeans.
She let her legs fall out of the edge and gazed at the sunset with him, with the popsicle in her mouth. She was glad that Axel had found her today, she would have been so lonely without her friend.
Lea continued to nibble at his popsicle, the memories flooding his mind. He closed his eyes briefly, sighing, before opening them again and trying to push the negative thoughts away.
"I really do hope so," Lea replied, letting out a soft sigh. He took another bite of his popsicle and gazed at the sunset in front of them. It reminded him of Roxas and Xion and of everyone else he had taken here. It brought him both happy and sad memories.
A small frown touched Larxene’s forhead. “Are you ready for this, Lea?” she asked, rather bluntly, too. “If it’s time you need then… I guess I can understand.”
"N-No, I'm fine," Lea said, smiling. "Really. It's... it's time for me to move on.. I think." He nodded to confirm his statement. "Yeah, let's go. A dinner and a movie sounds great to me."
"Well, I'd like to say that everything has been great, but I would be lying," Lea answered, nibbling at his popsicle. "I mean, having my emotions back is amazing, don't get me wrong, but the circumstances that I'm in kinda kills everything." He sighed. "You see.. some of the other Nobodies became their Somebodies once again.. including Saix but.. he.. he's still on the wrong side. He.. he attacked me when I tried to save Sora.."
She sits down next to him crossing her legs like an indian. She smiles and looks away into the horizon sighing happily. “Yeah, I guess so… now where’s that ice-cream?”
“This is actually tougher than Biology,” Larxene stated, rubbing her temples as she racked her brains, trying to think of a place to go. “What do you usually do on a date?”
"Well, uh," Lea rubbed the back of his neck. "I.. I took Sheena to the movies often.. and out to eat. She really enjoyed that." He tried to keep the sadness out of his voice but some of it slipped out. Whenever he thought or spoke of her it made him depressed and upset; he missed her so much.
