         SZİGET 2012 PRESS COMMENTARY / OUR ADVENTURE 

               It was an amazing experience to join my favourite European festival ‘’Sziget’’ last summer as a press member. I have been to Sziget Festival many times, 2008, 2011 and 2012, that was the 3th one, but for sure the best one. Always wanted to see what is behind the stage bars, wanted to taste the pleasure from the other side. I was so jealous about the cool photographers that has a special area and  was dreaming to be part of it one day, if you desire something so much, if you want it enough and work hard, it becomes real at last. Like my dream came true in a miracelous way.

      Everything started when i learned ‘’Placebo ‘’ will headline Sziget Festival that summer. I am one of the admins of Placebo Turkey Fan Page in Turkey. We are trying to do our best to support our beloved band in & outside Turkey, and Placebo did not come İstanbul for a long time , for about 3 years, so we decided to go and catch them in Budapest, our favourite band in our favourite festival! What’s more? So we applied for press accreditation , ( was not expecting to be accepted ) but thanks to Blue Jean Magazine ( the best music magazine in Turkey ) they helped us a a lot! And we got it!

     So we started to prepare for the great experince, i know the festival area very well, ( thats my third time in Sziget, as i told) but this was something new, as its the 20th anniversary of Sziget, there were a lot of special editions and new staff to explore. The whole island was renewed, so we checked the new map to be well-prepared before we go! Its amazing to see , after 20 years, how a small collage festival turned into one of Europe’s biggest festivals, who won the ‘’ Best European Festival Award ‘’, and getting bigger and bigger every year, making hundreds of people addicted to itself! For me it has turned into a habit, when August comes near, i am always like, ‘’Mmm, what about going to Sziget this year too? ‘’ I feel deficiency when i am not in there.

       Sziget is an addictive and well-organised festival with a huge music taste, with various bands from all over the world, its very normal to see people running between the stages from one corner to another, not to miss anything. Not just music of course, giant street theatres, workshops and lot of activities you can find in this freedom island with hundreds of nice, smiling people enjoying the festival without any incidents , i can not tell you enough , so you should come and see the stress-free, amazing atmosphere by yourself, you wont regret it for sure!

        I want to mention one important thing also, i admire the organisers too much, how can they manage to work everything so perfect? In such a big organisation, nothing going wrong, it’s hard job and something to congratulate. In accreditation process , they replied every single mail & question, even the stupid& simple ones, they did the best to help, to be honest i was not expecting such an interest, so special thanks again and again to the Sziget Press Office.

        And; lets come back to last summer and try to remember what we did, who we listened, what we have witnessed at backstage? ( not much , dont worry :)

      We came to the island in the first day , 8th of August, Wednesday, so we have missed the 0 and -1 days, which was very important to me, as the Rock-Metal Stage is gone this year ( one of my favourite stages :( ) and instead of it , they decided to organise a special ‘’Metal Music Day ‘’ including Lacuna Coil, Moonspell, Dimmu Borgir, Hammerfall and more :/  I am stil so sad about it, how could i miss it?

We checked in and got our Press Wristbands, and landed to the island once more! Yaaaay!

    Before we came , we prepared a listof the groups we want to interview, as you can guess, number one preference was Placebo, it did not come true unfortunately, the boys came to the area a little late and cancelled all the interviews , also in the beginning we could not receive and answer but we were keeping the hope alive to meet them, as we came all the way dreaming it, we were disappointed way much, but at least we were going to listen them after a long time, that is the consolation for us, hopes for next time. Afterwards, our Hurts interview is also rejected, they were going to be playing before Placebo and, after getting disapointed once more, we headed to Sziget Eye! Which is also a new beauty of this year, huge wheelchair in front of the main stage, to see the island up from the skies! There was supposed to be a Placebo fan meeting before the concert, we found just four fans waiting for it J So we all together headed to the main stage to take a front line , for Placebo! It was around 16.00, and Beatsteaks were on stage! Was a very crazy show, we managed to reach to the front line , found a corner , seeing the stage from a very good side, and started to wait for Hurts & Placebo, people were jumping and screaming , making pogo , enjoying Beatstakes, we tried to stand still without getting crushed by the jumping, dancing people :) When Hurts got stage , the crowd started to get bigger, and we did not want to leave our good place for taking photos at photo pit just for three songs, we were already in the front.

                Hurts were good as always, but i remember their small show last year at A38 Tent, it was the first time i listened them, maybe that’s why it’s very special and unforgettable for me. Compared to this show at Main Stage, ofcourse this one was bigger and more crowded, with their beautiful dancers and orchestra, last year’s small and sincere concert was more beautiful to me, in my opinion. They singed a new song from their upcoming album ‘’The Road’’.

         Then when the stage started to get prepared for Placebo, the excitement reached extreme levels! It was a beautiful Budapest evening, with a huge crowd, when we heard the ‘’ Kitty Litter ‘’ and then lost ourselves. They played the same tour setlist, i wished they singed ‘’Twenty Years ‘’ for the 20th anniversary of Sziget, it would be awesome, but they did not change the setlist, Brian Molko said ‘’ Happy Birthday Sziget Festival ‘’ and when they singed the song ‘’ I Know ‘’ we were drown into tears, because of the perfectness of the song, and the singer of course, and the interview disappoinment, they were all made us cry! They ended the show with their new single ‘’B3’’ and first day of Sziget has come to an end with an unforgettable way. ( By the way there is no ‘’end ‘’ in the island, as the music and fun goes on until morning, 24 hours :) 

         After that we old-school Placebo fans, did not give up , and waited in the front of the backstage, for a little chance to see the boys! They did not show up, and we did not give up. Everyone was trying to convince the guards to let in, but did not work out, we tried press way, and said we have press accreditation, can we get in? No? Then, one old lady got angry to us and said: -If you are press, i am the queen of England, if they let you in, i will come too. J No worries, nobody got in. But after two hours from the show, when we started to get frozen in the cold Budapest night, the doors opened and the tour buses headed on their way, with the drummer Steve sitting in front of the bus! He was so cute, vawing and sending kisses to us, but the security did not let us to get close to the bus, so we joined them walking beside the bus and chatting Steve over the windows J we asked him to call Brian to come but instead of him Steff showed up, we have walked until the end of the island with the bus, then they are gone, we were sad and happy at the same time, at least we could talk to Steve, and saw them. That’s something too.

                            PRESS CONFERENCE

           That day, when i woke up, if somebody told me , i was going to make an interview with Two Door Cinema Club, i would say ‘’are you kidding me? ‘’ Because we were so hangover and sleepless, thanks to Magic Mirror nights. Our most of interview applies were rejected, maybe because of our choices, we were flying a little bit high :)  so we did not prepare anything for TDCC, but life is full of surprises.

        I hardly woke up and get prepared because there was a press conference on Saturday, day 3, at 15.00, which i was looking forward to it, but i was so disappointed also , it was at the same time with Noah and the Whale concert, it was hard to choose , but we did not want to miss the conference, with the Festival Organizers. So we headed to the Eastern-European Funfair Stage. There was a surprise waiting for us, we had to take a Russian passport to get in, with a Russian soldier saluting us in the entrance, the girl in the cabin drowe our pictures on the passport, she was very talented, even she did not forget to mention my big Sziget earrings J We took our passports and then we were ready to come in, at least we thougth so! There was an interrogation on the door! A tough –angry –Russian soldier lady welcomed us, and asked:

-Do You drink alchocol? – No? –Do you Smoke? –No? – Why ? –Mmm, because i have an asthma_ -What??? Will you bring ilness to our land, i can’t let you in! ( What’s going on? ) – Asthma is not contagious – Yeah, Yeah, we know, ok come in.

         After this strange conversation we managed to get in, and found ourselves in a compatition which they ask questions about Hungarian history, and you can win prizes and Russian Money up to the answers, in the end it turned out we did not know much things about Hungarian History, and we were a little bit ashamed, took our gifts and started to discover the area. Ate some delicious russion pastries which we bought with the russion money we earned in the game. Kicked some asses, tried to fish, and took our place for the conference, after 5 minutes i got a text saying ‘’ your  TDCC interview in confirmed, you need to come to the press area at 16.00. ‘’

What? It’s 15.30 , we are not prepared and paniced!

         So we took a deep breath, listened to conference a while, the organisers were talking about the economical crises and its effect on the festival, we did have a little time to get ready for the interview so we had to leave the conference, sadly. In the exit, they gave us lovely a gift, Sziget’s 20 year’s book as a good memory. Then we started to run to the press area, which is ten minutes away. When we arrived, i could hear Noah and the Whale singing: L.I.F.E G.O.E.S O.N! Once more i felt so bad about missing them :(.

       We still got ten minutes before the interview, so tried to get prepared and got our places to meet TDCC. While waiting in the line, we did make up, to calm down a bit. Then they asked me we can only make the interview with one member of the band, how about ‘’Kevin’’? Kevin? The green-eyed, handsome guitarist of TDCC, ohh for sure we are in our lucky day! :)

His close and sincere attitude, helped us get over our excitement. So we had an unforgettable ten minuts. We asked about their İstanbul concert a few months ago, their new album ‘’Beacon’’ , new tour, new plans. After the interview we took our places to meet them on stage. AZARI & III INTERVİEW @SZİGET FESTİVAL 2012

11 August 2012, 20th anniversary of Sziget Festival, a cold Budapest night, around 22.00, A38 Backstage.

       There was a surprise call from Press Office, that we could make an interview with Azari & III, i call it surprise, because when he asked it was already 22.00 ,just minutes from the concert. We had ten minutes to get prepared, the press office was about to close, we took our notes, searched online what to ask and not be a cliche, to be honest we have known about the band just before Sziget, we did not know much about them,  a few weeks ago they were in İstanbul, but we could not have chance to see them in our own land. 

      We have heard about their amazing show at stage, and quite excited to meet them, as a lot of famous celebrity are fan of this cool band. 

      While we were waiting the line at A38 backstage tent, there was a high noise of the band on stage  ( KATZENJAMMER ) , the weather was getting very cold as the time goes late. They were  wearing thick clothes, they did not expect to be such cold here like us, also we were freezing too, while the interview area is getting ready , they saw the rainbow umbrella in my friend's hand, and decided to give us the priority to be the  first to interview. :)

       So we sat down together, Starving asked for a cigarette, because of the noise it was hard to hear eachother, it's gotta be a though ten minutes so. 

       Well, we were not prepared, but it was great pleasure to know these amazing guys, our questions seemed not to work good but when it came to  talk about ''gay culture'' it turned into something interesting. 

      Sorry if its not as you expected,it's mostly a spontaneous interview. So, lets start!

  AZARİ & III INTERVİEW 

  ME: Oh, You are welcome! Welcome to Hungary! 

Starving: Oh, Thanks for having us.This Starving Yet Full. 

Fritz : Oh, This is Fritz Helder

( Talkings:) 

Me : İts very cold here, 

we can sit and make a circle here,

Me : Ok, this is your first time in Sziget Festival? 

Starving: Yeah, its our first time, but not first time in Hungary, its not the first time, its second time, we were last year here for Balaton Festival, 

Me: Oh yeah, How is it like to be here in Sziget Festival?  so its the 20th anniversary, special year for Sziget.  And u will be performing at this very  beautiful stage, A38, how is it like to be?

Azari: Whats really honest,  we are honoured to be here, cause i mean we heard its one of the best festivals in Europe, and so far playing here one night is very supportive , thats very nice

Me:  And u have been to Turkey , right?

Azari: Yeah, we have just  been to İstanbul, two weeks ago

Me: How was it?

Azari: Well its hard to say , we were on tour, we were only there for one day, and so we really dont have a chance to ever see her, we leave tomorrow to go to Poland so its a hard question to answer because we dont get to see much but İstanbul was beautiful, it was crowded and lots of people were in dancing pub later 

Me: How was your fans,  how was the the atmosphere? 

Azari: They were amazing, and the atmosphere was amazing , yeah! 

Me: We dont know very much thing about you, first of all can u give us a little more information about yourself?  How did you form? How did you come together?

( Laughings ) - you can check online. 

Me: Very little information online about you

-Yeah but we met this question a lot of  surprise, so nobody knows yet, i mean we have known eachother for at least ten years, its  just, i dont know how, its hard to describe, its like when you meet friends u just meet them right, and over years of  hanging out and being together u decide to work together, and thats how we happened really , nothing really, not a big story.

-just years of hanging out and living kind of together , yeah

Me: You have really famous fans, like Madonna, Jhonny Depp, 

-Yeah, yeah

Me: What do you think about that?

-I dont know ( laughings again  )

Me: And Madonna also asked you to support her

-Oh no, we were, it was , we were one of many acts that were asked to support and then, u know , when it comes to decide, one act decide to be right, we did not end up doing it, but its was an honour just to be considered, u know, among many other pretty acts with she, its good.

Me: We have seen your performance just online, first time we will be seeing you, what makes u amazing, and different from  other bands?

-İ think, we are very dinamic , we are all kind of like opposites with somewhat similars, like having both side,  east and west, its kind of fun and powerfull, that is fact, but i mean our shows live very u know what we are about to do at festivals

Me: yeah, we are very excited to see

-its all very different u know , certain different approach to every show but we stll keep the same tradition , and anything else

Me: Ok, we wonder how u make these amazing songs? How is the process?

-Oh, we cant tell u that, thats like asking a magician how they do their magic trick ( Laughters  )

-well the song process is we dont have a process yet, really we are young band we havent been to that long

Me: i have been asking your sound also, u have tried many sounds i read that in your bio.

Me: Yeah, but i mean its really different every single time, every single song in the album is written in a different way. first about me and dynamo together sometimes i ,sometimes one person there are really isnt formula for our  second album after all this time together we will be able to have a spesific way for moving but we have never planned  this to happen in the first place. So we were never thinking about touring the world or being, playing shows or literally just being in the studio writing so  whatever happened happened, u know whatever came out, came out it was so organic 

Me: Ok, i think our time is out

-No, i think , go ahead and ask a few questions more.

Me:I have read on one of your interviews online, u say '' gay culture is dying''  ( laughters  ) What can you say about that?

-Thats me!  (Fritz) 

Fritz:  I dont believe in gay culture, i think gay culture is, we are done with it.  i feel like gay people spend so much time, fighting for equality and fighting to be  consirered the same, and then at the same time they want a gay culture , which is alien, who is it gay? so its one or the other, u  pick one. either i have a gay culture thats for gay people, or u join the rest of us.

Starving: Everyone is gay, hahaha ( Laughters again )

Fritz: Well exactly! i actually believe that everyone has a compasion to be a homosexual , heterosexual and all depends on  the standart of the life u live or where you are  from, u know, and i can only say that because i wasn't born in canada, i was born in jamaica, and jamaica is a very homophobic country, and i figure if i had not left i probably would be straight, not because i  wanted to, but ist the circumtances, i feel like gay culture well  its good to have support u know, its good to have people we are  like u support u, but  i feel gay culture itself its like black culture like, and what is black culture? black culture is now blow bully? hiphop is not only for black people ,u know,  its for everyone. so i feel like to be futurist to be able to use those boxes ,kind of like, make everyone involved , not just so spesific, we mind u though, u know, we are from a community, where we have a very large gay community, and trans so, its nice to know where u can go and hang out, but at the same time, i feel so different, you go there now, everbody, so many gay guys are straightacting, so many straight guys are gayacting, its just like, i dont know anymore, thats me!

Me: Ok, thank u for your time! i want to ask u, maybe u can come back to Turkey back, what are your plans? 

-Yeah, we would love to come back and actually spend time there and see Turkey.

Me:And, what would you like to say your turkish fans, lastly?

-Hello! Friends in Turkey! We love you! İstanbul was beautiful! We will be back next year, with some new material. and new big show, so stay tuned!

Me: We will be excited about it!

-Same, same, u know  we can get a chance to see antalya either one day, next time we will get to  see couple of cities , and everything.

Bir Moz macerası :)

Moz konserini tepeden , yani bir nevi beleş tepe olan harbiyenin merdivenlerinden izlerken, bizim gibi bilet bulamamış-züğürt-öğrenci-turist vs  tayfasıyla , sahneyi görememenin verdiği kederi paylaşıp, gene de teselli babında , geceye karışan muhteşem müziğe eşlik ederken bir yandan, her zamanki çekim gücüm devrede, hemen yanımızdaki bir kişilik boş mekana kendini gençten bir bayan sıkıştırıyor, kafası güzel muhtemelen.  Topuklu ayakkabılarını çıkarıyor , çıplak ayak yaslanıyor trabzanlara. Yüzünde bir gülümseme ile beni süzmeye başlıyor,  ben de bir gülümseme ile karşılık veriyorum kendisine.

-''Yani demek istiyorum ki, hep populer kültürün etkisi bunlar, insanları dolduruşa getiriyorlar, bir güzellik algısı yaratmışlar toplumda, ille o kalıba sokacaklar insanları, ben o kalıbın dışındaki insanları seviyorum, özgün olanları, sen de öylesin, şimdi burnun  için ameliyat yaptırsan, yüzünün şekli, bu ifaden kaybolacak, gözlerinin güzelliği gidecek, ne gerek var, benden sana tavsiye, sürüye uyma.

Sonra hiiiç garip bir şey söylememiş edasıyla, trabzana yaslanmaya devam ederek, bacaklarını arkaya doğru uzatıyor,bir yandan şarkıya eşlik ederken,  ben şaşkın, hava güzel, cebimizde sadece macaristana gidebilmek için ayırdığımız vize parası.

Moz bileti mi, vize parası mı? Bu ikilemde çırpınıp duruken, konser saati yaklaştıkça, tereddütlerimizin hadi kıyalım paraya be, koskoca Moz, kaçar mı? 'ya doğru yönelmesi ve biletlerin tükendiğini öğrenmemiz bir oldu, öyle ki, bir karaborsacıya bile rastlamadık, konser girişinde,  sonra bir arkadaşın tavsiyesi ile, tepeden kuş bakışı en azından ''dinleyelim'' dedik.

Bu arada yandaki bayan gene lafa girişiyor, - bir de Dead can Dance konseri var burda, onu  da kaçırmak istemem, sever misin kendilerini?  

Çattık! - Severim, ama o gün Leonard Cohen de var, çakışıyorlar, tercihimi Cohen'den yana kullanırım gidebilecek olursam.

-Cohen dinledim ben, Dead Can Dance istiyorum, ama tek başıma da tadı çıkmaz.

Ben gelicem desem, sanki birlikte gidelim diyecek gibi samimi bir hava var bayanda, tırsarak biraz da, geçiştiriyorum lafı, bayan da biraz sonra yorulduğunu söyleyerek ayakkabılarını giyiyor ve iyi geceler diyip karanlıkta kayboluyor.

Şaka gibi..

Biz de en azından Moz'u dünya gözüyle bir görelim diye sahneyi görebilecek başka bir köşe arayışına girişiyoruz, ve muvaffak da oluyoruz,  başından beri yanlış yerde duruyormuşuz meğersem, sahneye doğru olan köşeden, muhteşem bir görüntü yakalıyoruz,  ama korkuluk olmayan ve biraz tehlikeli bir yer, bizim gibi iki çılgın oturuyor orda, tam gitsek mi artık derken, nihayet, ''Let me kiss you'' çalmaya başlıyor ve Moz'un gömleğini çıkartıp attığı o seksi ana şahit oluyoruz çook yükseklerden, mutluluktan ölebilirim, bir uçurum tepesinde, rüzgar, beni tutmaya çalışan canım dostum, ve kenarda let me kiss you'ya eşlik eden ben, doğum günüme sadece dakikalar var, daha güzel bir kutlama hayal edemiyorum.

Ertesi sabah vizeye başvurmak için Macaristan Konsolosluğunda alacağımız için soluğu, ayrılmak zorunda kalıyoruz istemeden.

Doğum gününü vize başvurusuyla değerlendiren bir şahsiyette benim. Her şey Sziget için!

Moz'u ( kısmen ) kaçırmış olmamın acısını, Szigette Brianımı görecek olmamla gideririm diye kendimi teselli ediyorum.

Güzel şeyler hep işsiz zamanlara denk gelir.  Hep bir sıkıntı olur illa ki . 

Ertesi gün Macar Konsolosluğunda , kendini Macar kralı zanneden görevli yüzünden sinir krizleri geçirerek başvurumuzu erteliyoruz , zira konsolosluğun randevu sistemine geçtiğini, sistemini değiştirdiğini öğrenip, şehir dışından geliyor olsak da, gayet boş ve kimse olmamış olsa da, ne kadar dil döksek de yardımcı olmayacaklarını görünce, arkamıza baka baka geri dönüyoruz.

Sziget'in herşeyi güzel de, şu vize alma kısmı öldürüyor insanı, 3. defa gidiyorum ve her seferinde ayrı bir sıkıntı yaşıyoruz görevlilerle.

Geçen sene görevli bayanın bana bir bakış atıp: - Nereye gittiğinin farkındasın değil mi? demesini zaten unutamıyorum.

-Pardon?

 -Yani , gayet çılgın bir müzik festivaline gidiceksin.

Ve akşam eve gidip de, evdekilerle doğum günü kutlarken annem bana bakıp birden diyor ki,

- Bir de ameliyat olmak istiyorsun,  ne güzel yüzünün şekli oysa, kalp gibi, boşuna bozacaksın bu güzelliği.

  -Ne?, sen anne olduğun için öyle geliyor sana.

-Hiç de değil, farkında değilsin kalp şeklinde yüzünün.

-???!!!!!!!!!?

Varan iki, bir gün önce gayet meşakkatli bir çene ameliyatı geçirmem gerektiğini öğrenmemin hemen akabinde, böyle geri dönüşler almam ilginç, bir ilahi uyarı olsa gerek, 

vize maceramız ve gerisi diğer yazılarda, olur da merak ederseniz :)

B3!

Placebonun yeni EP'Sİ  ''B3''  Ekim 15 itibariyle dünya çapında raflardaki yerini aldı, kısa

süre önce de Almanyada ilk önce buluşmuştu sevenleriyle. Bunda grubun yeni albüm için

Universal Music Germany ile anlaşmasının payı var elbet. Yeni Ep'den karşımıza ıkan ilk

single B3oldu,  Grubun zaten Avrupa ve Rusya- Belarus- Ukrayna konserlerini kapsayan

turnesinde B3 setlistte yerini almış ve çok sevilmişti.  Biz de Placebo'yu  bu yaz Sziget

Festivalde yakalamış ve  B3'ü ilk defa orada canlı dinleme şansı bulmuştuk. 

Placebo turne sonrasında yeni yıla kadar dinlenip , sonrasında yeni çıkaracakları stüdyo

albümleri ve akabinde çıkacakları turne için çalışmaya başlayacak .Bu esnada bizlere de

Ep'nin tadını çıkarmak düşüyor.

EP'den ilk klip elbette ki B3'ye çekildi. Merakla beklenen klip, 2011 yılında Grammy adayı

gösterilen ve Muse'un Uprising videosundan hatırlayacağımız yönetmen Eric Epstein

tarafından New Yorkta ve sadece bir günde çekildi.

Klip çekim aşamasında da çok konuşuldu, hayranlar iki gruba bölündü, bir grup  ( ki

içerisinde biz de varız )  klipte Brian Molko'nun da yer almasını umut ettiler, diğer grup

da klip güzel olduğu sürece kimin oynayacağının önemli olmadığında hemfikir oldular. 

Sonuçta klipte gruptan kimse yer almadı, hayranlar biraz hayalkırıklığına uğradı,

tartışmalar devam etti,  sonuçta grup elemanlarının yer almadığı ilk video değil ( Song to

Say Goodbye vs. ) klibe takılmamak gerektiği kanısındayız.

Placebo yeni albüm sürecinde bizleri şaşırtmaya devam ediyor, grubu uzun süredir ve çok

yakından takip ettiğimiz ve Türkiye sayfalarında adminlik yaptığımız için en ufak

gelişmeleri,  değişimleri, hayranların  tepkilerini, eleştirilerini ve isteklerini çok yakından

gözlemleme fırsatı  buluyoruz,  Placebo'nun B3 ile ilgili bir yarışma yapması, ( B3'ün

kapak fotoğrafına en yakın  fotoğrafı çekip grup tarafından seçilecek kişiye imzalı B3

orjinal çalışmasını vermeleri ) grup  sanki ticari kaygılara kapılmış gibi algılandı, zira 

Placebo önceden bu tür kaygıları olmayan bir gruptu, hayranlarını birazcık şaşırttılar.

Üç yıl aranın ardından beklenen geri dönüş. Yine harika bir sound ve daha da harika

sözler. B3 ile gücünü ortaya seren Placebo, I Know Where You Live ile dünyada hüküm

süren düzene  karşı isyankar bir tutum sergiliyor.  The Extra ile bu havadan sıyrılan grup

özeleştiri yapmayı ihmal etmiyor. Time is Money ise bütün bu havaya aşkın esintisini de

katıyor ve daha gizemli bir  hale büründürüyor. En son I Know You Want to Stop ise

Placebo'nun coverdaki yeteneğini tekrar gözler önüne seriyor. Kısaca Placebo

beklenenden farklı bir geri dönüş yapıyor ve yine kendini tekrar etmeyen , bizleri her

seferinde şaşırtan bir grup olduğunu hatırlatıyor.

Değişmeyen şeyler ise : Brian Molko'nun içimize işleyen sesinin , Stefan ve Steve'in çizgi

ötesi yeteneği ile birleşmesi.  Özellikle I Know Where You Live çok ayrı yeri olan ve

Placebo'nun ilk dönemlerini anımsatan bir şarkı, albümdeki favorimiz diyebiliriz.

  Bir eleştiri de bu harika EP hakkında haber yapmaktan çekinen basın ve yayın

kuruluşlarına.  Ep hakkında haber yapılmıyor, klip ekranlarda dönmüyor.

Zira çok popüler sanatçıların  albümleri henüz çıkmadan malum medya tarafından bangır

bangır reklamları yapılırken, bu  sessizliğin ya da umursamazlığın nedenini çok merak

ediyoruz. Placebo elbette reklama ihtiyacı olan bir grup değil , ve herşeye rağmen bizleri

beklediğimize pişman etmiyorlar.  Ama hayranlar olarak  gönül ister ki , hakettikleri ilgi

ve alaka gösterilsin.

Son olarak Placebo'yu en son 2009 Haziranında ülkemizde ağırlamıştık, kendilerini çok

özlettiler ve  3 sene kuralını bozdular,  bu sene kesinlikle yeni albüm ile kendilerini

Türkiyede görmek  istiyor ve sabırsızlanıyoruz!

IAMX ile Çılgın Gece, Elektronik Sex! @Babylon İstanbul

24 Kasım 2012 Cumartesi akşamı IAMX'i Babylon'da ilk defa canlı dinledikten sonra , bu yazı daha bir anlamlı geldi, IAMX geç keşfettiğim için kendime sövüp durduğum ve son zamanlarda sürekli dinlediğim bir grup, ve Babylon konseri son zamanlarda izlediğim en mükemmel , en çılgın, en eğlenceli ve unutulmaz konserdi diyebilirim, gruba bu denli yakın olacağımızı ve Chris'le elele şarkı söyleyebileceğimizi hayal bile edemezdim, Babylon'daki konserleri özellikle bu samimi atmosferden dolayı seviyorum, bu yüzden ekstra müteşekkiriz mekan seçimi dolayısıyla. 

Cumartesi akşamı sağanak yağmur, feci soğuk vs dinlemedik, saat dokuz itibariyle Babylon önünde sıraya girdik, zira en önden dinlemek istiyoruz IAMX'i , ilk defa dinleyecek olmanın heyecanı bir başka. Yavaş yavaş sokak dolmaya, bilet bulamayanlar karaborsacılarla pazarlığa girişmeye başlamışken, ben de kargodaki bir problem yüzünden bir türlü elime geçmeyen biletim için Babylon yetkilileriyle görüşürken, bir de baktık ki , yan kapıdan sessiz sedasız, IAMX'in yeni davulcusu Richard Ankers çıktı, elinde bir bira, yan tarafta sigara içmeye koyuldu turne ekibinden birkaç kişiyle birlikte. O mu gerçekten? evet o! yok artık? , gözlerimize inanamayıp da iyice emin olduktan sonra soluğu hemen yanında aldık elbette. Tereddüt etmemizin sebebi, kapıda bekleşen kalabalık ve kuyruktan kimsenin ilgi göstermemesi, hatta dönüp bakmaması bile. Tabi bunda gruba yeni katılmış olmasının , bu yüzden pek fazla kişinin kendisini tanımıyor olmasının etkisi olsa gerek.  Kendisiyle ayak üstü sohbet edip, etmeye çalışıp daha doğrusu ( sorularımızı nazikçe cevapsız bıraktı kendisi :)

fotoğraf çekildik ve kendisini daha fazla rahatsız etmek istemeyerek tekrar güvenliğe döndük. Bu arada fotoğraf için kendisine teşekkür edince o da '' teşekkur '' dedi gülümseyerek :)

Bu arada gerçekten Stefan Olsdal'a çok benziyor , Placebo fanları haklı bu konuda. Bize de aynen Stef'i andırdı.  

Kuyruğa geri dönüp de,hala bilet olayını hala halledemeyince çok moralimiz bozuldu, Babylon güvenliği hakkında da bir kaç şey yazmak istiyorum, yardımcı olmak isteyenleri tenzih ediyorum, gerçekten sorunu halletmeye çalışmak için çok uğraştılar, teşekkür ediyorum, ama bazıları da yardımcı olmak yerine zorluk çıkarmakta ısrar etti, hatta bitmiş biletleri zulalayıp kapıda iki kapı fiyatına ( 100 tl ) satmaya çalışan fırsatçıları göstererek onlardan , bitmeden bilet temin etmemizi söylenler oldu. Hatta bu şahısları şikayet ettiğimiz zaman da birşey yapamayacaklarını söylediler. Yetkililerin de devreye girmesine ve ismi teyit etmesine rağmen ( kargo şirketi biletin 11.30 gibi babylona teslim edileceğini söyledi ) saat 11e kadar kapıda bekleyip anca ikna olup 11.15te içeri aldılar, hatta bari içeride bekleyelim , saatlerdir soğukta bekliyoruz deyince, biz de soğukta bekliyoruz diyip, dışarıya bir ufo getirdiler. Bence bu durum , yani teyit edilmesine rağmen bileti görmeden  almam mantığıyla zorluk çıkarmak , sürekli müdavimi olduğumuz Babylon'a yakışmadı. 

11.15 civarı nihayet içeriye adımımızı atabildiğimizde, en önü kaybettik diye moraller sıfıra indi, ama neyse ki içeride henüz çok az kişi vardı ve gene ortalarda , sahneye yakın bir yerde yerimizi aldık.  12'ye doğru sahne ışıkları yavaştan ayarlanmaya ve bizim heyecanımız da katlanmaya başladı. Sahnede üzerinde '' camera suck gun slut'' yazan bir cansız manken ,elinde ve göğüs uçlarında bantlar.. İlk IAMX konserimiz, ve dünya gözüyle Chris'i yakinen görecek olmak tüm sıkıntılara değer! 

Ve nihayet sahnedeler! Tahmin ettiğimiz üzere '' The Great Shipwreck of Life'' ile açılışı yaptılar ve Janine ''we can make you understand'' diyerek coşturdu hepimizi!  Chris siyah takımı, meşhur şapkası , beyaz eldivenleri ve pudralı, simli makyajıyla, gerçeküstü!  Biraz Michael Jackson, biraz Cem Adrian. ( niyeyse bana Cem Adrian'ı anımsattı :) Janine , deri şortu, göğüs uçlarına yapıştırdığı bantları ve çılgın, inanılmaz enerjisi ile son derece seksi! Öyle ki çılgın hareketleriyle , enerjisiyle gözümüzü ondan ayırıp Chris'e ve diğer elemanlara odaklanmakda zorluk çekiyoruz . Kimi zaman o kadar kendinden geçiyor ki, gözlerindeki o delice bakışları, yüzünün aldığı hali, mimikleri anlatmak güç :) Richard biraz arka tarafta ve köşede  ve sanki biraz diğerlerinin gerisinde kalıyor, gitarist Alberto'nun ise Chris'le özellikle karşılıklı davul çalarkenki halleri unutulmaz! ve Chris'le aralarında inanılmaz bir sinerji var, hatta biraz fazla bile samimiler diyebiliriz :)

Bu arada ön tarafta olmanın avantajıyla sık sık Chris ve Janine'e dokunabilmek de ayrı güzel ( konser boyunca bol bol taciz ettik ikisini de ) bir ara şarkı arasında arkadaşım '' fuck me Chris! '' diye bağırınca Chris gülerek '' are you sure? i think you dont want it babe '' gibi bir cevap veriyor :) ve edivenini arkadaşa veriyor sonrasında.  Chris de elinde kamerayla kayda aldı dinleyicilerini bir ara. Ardarda Kingdom of welcome addiction, tear garden, kiss + swallow gibi muhteşemleri dinleyip kendimizden geçerken, Chris kendini bir anda kollarımıza bırakıverdi!, o anki adrenalin ve çoşkuyu anlatabilecek kelime var mı bilmiyorum, bir yandan Chris'i tutmaya , bir yandan öpmeye , bir yandan da ayakta durabilmeye çalışırken, ben uyanıklık yapıp, Chrisle birlikte arkaya doğru ilerleyen arkadaşların yerine sahne önüne geçtim fırsattan istifade, ne de olsa geri dönüşü var crowdsurfing'in :) 

ve sahne önünde olmak bambaşka! Chris'le elele şarkı söyleyip, elimi uzatma mesafesinde olmak! Rüya gibi! Chris kafamızdan aşağı sular döküyor, elimizden tutup şarkı söylüyor, burnumun dibinde böyle bir şey varken nasıl sapıtmayabilirim? IAMX etkisi böyle bir şey olsa gerek, seksi, baştan çıkarıcı, çıldırtıcı! hayatımda hiç bir sanatçıyı bu denli taciz ettiğimi hatırlamıyorum ( taciz etmek derken , rahatsız etmek manasında değil elbet :) o kadar kendimizden geçiyoruz ki, fotoğraf ve video çekmeyi bile unutuyoruz, bu arada devreye gene Babylon güvenliği giriyor, video çekmeye çalışırken ısrarla flaş yasak diyerek müdahale etmeye çalışıyor, video çekiyorum diyorum, alırım makineni diyor, ayrı bir problem! ( video ile fotoğrafı ayırt edemeyen insana ne denebilir ki? )

ve Bring me back a dog ile sahneye tekrar döndüklerinde elinde bir votka şişesi var Chris'in, önce gidip sahnedeki cansız mankeni öpüyor dudaklarından, gözler yarı aralık, belli ki kafa güzel, arada sendeliyor, muhteşem bir gecenin sonuna yaklaşırken, kalbimiz sıkışmaya başlıyor, hayır bu gece bitmemeli! 

Yılın son konserini Think of England ile sonlandırıyorlar, özellikle benim için çok ayrı bir yeri olan bu şarkıyı Chris ile elele söyleyeceğime rüyamda görsem inanmazdım ama böyle güzellikler de oluyor hayatta! Gitarist,  elimizi öperek veda ediyor bize. Hiç abartısız hayatımın en çılgın ve unutulmaz konseri olarak not düşüyorum tarihe, şimdiden özlemeye başlıyoruz!  Bu arada yazın bir festival kapsamında tekrar istanbula geleceklerini öğrenmiş olmak da sevindirici! ( ama ben tekrar Babylon'a gelmelerini tercih ederim :) ve de bu sene kendilerini Sziget Festivalde görmeyi umut ediyorum ayrıca.

Sahne boşalıp da rüya sona erince afallıyoruz elbet, welcome to the real life! böyle müzisyenler hayatı çekilebilir yapıyorlar sadece! 

Bu esnada ben de ganimetlerimi toparlıyorum, Chris'in çıkarıp attığı saç tokası biraz ileride, artık benimdir :) bir pena, bagetler çantada, setlisti ve chris'in bıraktığı votkayı da almak için sahneye çıkıyorum ama gene güvenlik engeli, yüzüm gözüm sim içerisinde, Chris'in tokası saçımda, sırılsıklam, kaymış bİr halde ama bir  o kadar da mutlu, terkediyoruz Babylon'u.

O atmosferi anlatmak, kelimelere dökebilmek çok zor, kısaca diyebiliriz ki o gece orda olmayanlar çok şey kaçırdı! 

 ve İyi ki varsın Chris! Böyle adamların varlığı güzel kılıyor herşeyi!
