AU doesn’t change rivalry aspects like Vhemlik blaming on the PSYCHIC for his retirement. This simply changes Psychic’s comeback such as the relationship establishment and process.
Psychic understands clearly Vhemlik’s standpoint on them, they do not welcome it nor give it much thought. Their perspective distort Vhemlik’s hatred as denial. They so assuredly think Vhemlik seeks validation so throughly, that simply getting it from them will satisfy his crave. This feeling can be misinterpreted as pity, but there’s actually some sort of tension between Psychic’s thoughts and actions. They can’t really grasp the whole reason of why they feel the need to fullfill Vhemlik’s desires. I just think they MAYBBEEEE want Vhemlik to once again feel the same appreciation. Vhemlik can’t fathom Psychic’s sudden insistence and overall the inclination.
So yeah it’s mostly pining basically
Vhemlik pushes them away as a defense mechanism, standing firmly on his point of view, basically “waaa waaa I hate this guy I MUST hate this guy even if they try to show interest for me waaaaa”
THIS DOES NOT MEAN Vhemlik feels like he doesn’t deserve Psychic’s attention and interest for him, he’s so damn prideful even having THE Psychic suggesting him a relationship makes him think it’s impotent. Like some “ggrgrgrggrrrrr how can I have something nice with the person I swore to hate on who do they think they are go awaaaaay”
Relationship establishment happens during the B.O.B war. Psychic is STILL a recruit and both bear and B.O.B communities stigmatize interspecies relationships. Most B.O.BS don’t really have open mindset and that happens because 1 - They can’t develop a deeper understanding of humanity (basically just not developing personalities and thus not understanding nothing about it.) 2 - They’re taught to oppress certain tendencies and beliefs. Vhemlik’s repressing ideology is what too makes their relationship a little complicated.
Psychic takes the initiative to form some sort of conversation so they can ask to hang out, Vhemlik will progressively accept this company and try to accommodate to it even if his ego says otherwise. He’d try and coax Psychic to do things that might ruin their image, yes. To Vhemlik it seems like accomplishment. But soon enough it turns into remorse. Vhemlik deals with this more than Psychic.
So yes that’s all I could think of 😅 I have more thoughts about them but feel really embarrassed to actually go on and post paragraphs, and since there’s a lot more of characters maybe I’ll explore these too. And also if I keep remembering I have this account lol
