The social media reaction to the Ferguson grand jury decision reeks less of "dismantling institutional racism" and more of "appeasing white guilt."
Problematic situations are never crises, which is damning when you consider that "problematic" tends to be used in critical discourse on racism, sexism, and homophobia. "Problematic" whines; it does not act. It takes baths. But most of all, it, like racism, sexism, classism, ableism, and heterosexism, is definitely bad for indefinite reasons.
tl;dr -- your use of problematic is only contributing to the problem and not actually solving it.
also: after nearly two months without tumblr my life has been SO much easier. though twitter and facebook still piss me off on a regular basis.
had a one-night stand for the first time about a month ago.
and I'm still weirded out by the fact that I actually did it.
it's not guilt. it's just
i don't know.
sex makes me really anxious.
i'm going to try and see a doctor about this soon. i don't think it's normal, really. but i'm going to check it out. if it's not medical, it's probably psychological, and thankfully my health insurance at work just kicked in, so i can afford it.
So apparently my best friend from college got pissed that his girlfriend didn't stand up for him at the fireworks show tonight so he called her "fucking stupid," said he didn't love her any more, and left the house.
And I'm conflicted. Because I don't know this girl really well, but I've never known my friend to EVER act like that.
At this point, I'm thinking a true friend would stand up with his girlfriend and not him, because holy shit, what an asshole thing to do.
Non-American People, Let Me Explain You A Thing
So, us Americans are annoying. And we understand that entirely. It’s actually one of the things we’re famous for, so some of us wanna rock that… Well, we hate that side of us too. Now, onto the 4th of July.
Most of the time, we kinda hate our own country. Not quite as much as all of you seem to… But we do. We hate it because we live here, and we see from the inside all of the little flaws. From the outside, sure you see our…interesting government and our annoying boastfulness, but you don’t see the little things that make us hate us.
The 4th is our one day of the year when we recognize that, sure our “free” country is kinda ridiculous, but we should love it here. And we do. For one day (the whole week when it comes to fireworks…), we get to blow stuff up into pretty colors, we get to gorge ourselves on all the meat, pie, and alcohol we can, and we get to pretend that, at least for 24 hours, our country still signifies everything it used to.
We realize that our country isn’t exactly as free as we say it is, and we realize that there are countries with similar, if not better, human rights to ours. It’s just… Unlike most countries, we fought for ours, then had to build it from the ground up. We attempted an unheard of and seemingly impossible war against the biggest and strongest empire in the world, and we won. We were just 13 little colonies, a ragtag group of misfits with a dream beyond what colonies could accomplish.
We may get a little (okay, a lot) annoying boasting about our “freedom,” but the 4th is not about that. What we’re celebrating today is that, in the most impossible war, we broke free.
Not that we are free.
That we broke free.
fashion is a lifestyle, it’s a choice. it’s a freedom of expression. you have to live it, you have to love it. you have to breathe it. life’s all about love and glamour
This is the reason makeup needs to be tested on animals.
When a man tells me “you’re beautiful”
all I hear is
"Your only purpose in life is to decorate my world."
When I hear shit like this, all I hear is
"I want to be offended and I will overanalyse everything you say so I can get upset and screech at you"
Every introvert alive knows the exquisite pleasure of stepping from the clamor of a party into the bathroom and closing the door.

One of the best out takes from any television show, ever.
If you make a civil rights movie and white people like it, it's not a good movie.

"I’ve been a deep believer my whole life. 18 years as a Southern Baptist. More than 40 years as a mainline Protestant. I’m an ordained pastor. But it’s just stopped making sense to me. You see people doing terrible things in the name of religion, and you think: ‘Those people believe just as strongly as I do. They’re just as convinced as I am.’ And it just doesn’t make sense anymore. It doesn’t make sense to believe in a God that dabbles in people’s lives. If a plane crashes, and one person survives, everyone thanks God. They say: ‘God had a purpose for that person. God saved her for a reason!’ Do we not realize how cruel that is? Do we not realize how cruel it is to say that if God had a purpose for that person, he also had a purpose in killing everyone else on that plane? And a purpose in starving millions of children? A purpose in slavery and genocide? For every time you say that there’s a purpose behind one person’s success, you invalidate billions of people. You say there is a purpose to their suffering. And that’s just cruel."

Why do you get to have an opinion about male circumcision when you don’t have a penis?
I appreciate this answer. Thank you.
The rest of you made an awful lot of assumptions about my opinions on things.
