It frustrates me to no end that Starfleet Academy is ending after two seasons. Episodic shows are dying because this industry can't sustain long running shows anymore. No new shows get time to find their footing because streaming now dictates quantity of shows over quality, because initial impressions are all that matter. There is no time for shows to go through awkward phases or adjust to its ensemble, there's no time for meaningful, bond-building filler episodes, there's no time for fun adventures or tender moments of friendship between plot, and so many shows suffer for it.

Starfleet Academy has the perfect premise to last at LEAST four seasons, if not five or six. It has a good, well rounded cast with interesting backgrounds, interesting dynamics to be explored, and an even more interesting world of adventures to put these characters through, and yet it's going to be cut because companies are no longer incentivized to invest in their franchises anymore. It's just produce a show, maybe give it ten to twelve episodes, move on to the next, and it's not productive for ANYBODY. It really is a lose-lose situation.
