@khamisi-the-khaleesi
“this place is big— lot bigger than i thought it was going to be.”
“Is that a good thing? I can understand it can be a little overwhelming. I still sometimes get lost myself, and i only ever go to two places really- the library, and my room. If you ever need any help navigating though, i promise to try and help!”
“I… gotta admit. As much as I hate the concept of school and doing schoolwork, I love the routine it gives you. Four days out of class and I was so screwed up and bored out of my mind. It was awful.”
“You hate the concept of school and homework?!?! I love it! But i can understand what you mean. It offers a sense of routine in your life, and productivity. That’s just my opinion however. Maybe you just need something new to occupy your days!”
“I’ve been having the same resolution since I’ve been here” he giggles, “I’ve been sticking with it mostly because I want to stay healthy and such, but thank you for the good vibes! I don’t really go running and stuff, I go to the gym. So we could be gym buddies if you want?”
“Really!? Has it been going well for you? That’s good to hear! Resolutions don’t always have to be new!” Khamisi encouraged. “Gym buddies would be great! I never really had too much time for the gym, but i don’t see why i can’t start now!”
“Well, if you do as good a job for the rest of the year as you are right now then I’m sure your resolution will stay intact. Does, uh– does wanting to learn control count as a resolution? Like, say… for example, I wasn’t completely in control of a power. But I wanted to be, and I decided to dedicate more time to it or… or something.”
“Thank you! I certainly hope so!” Khamisi was glad to hear such kind words. “Control? I don’t see why not! Is it maybe something i can help you control?” He asked, curious.
“I know you would..but I’d be a trouble because I know you’d worry, it’s what you do. You care about people so you’d worry, which would be troubling you. You care far more than most do which isn’t a bad thing, it’s a positive really..but somethings are better left unsaid. I don’t want to be the one to worry you.” Alice replied quietly with a small shrug. Everyone had there own worries, the last thing they needed was her own on top of that. There were much bigger problems in the world than her own. “Oh I- I meant you and your flatmate, but yes sure- A movie night would be fun. You can pick the film. They’re doing more than well, they are running the shop by themselves at points which is a relief. It wouldn’t be open most days without them.” The younger woman spoke, her arms looping around herself as gave a small smile and thank you as she slipped into his apartment. At his question, the blonde quirked an eye brow lightly at him turning the question over in her mind. “I suppose you could say that. Well-..it’s inevitable isn’t it? It’s in my DNA. I wasn’t born to be happy all of the time, that’s the luxury most people take for granted. Oh- I- I shouldn’t be a point of inspiration for you Khamisi, there are better people for that.” Following him into his room, Alice’s eyes grew wide as they catch a glimpse of the flowers and vase. Lost for words as her small, frail hands took the vase carefully, her eyes flickered from the flowers to him as she listened closely. “You got me present..You didn’t have to do this really- I-..” Alice murmured her eyes flickering down to the flowers, a soft smile curling at the edge of her lips. “Thank you..this means- alot really. They’re beautiful, thank you. I love them. I’ll try- we’re made out of stardust so i’m half way there right? Thank you.”
“I worry even without you telling me.” He pointed out, offering her a friendly smile. “But, i promise i’ll try to keep it a minimum. Just for you.” He was surprised at her statement, at not wanting to worry him. He really didn’t mind, but he didn’t know how to say that exactly, so he just glanced at her before slowly nodding, respecting her decision. “Oh! Duh! Sorry. I guess my brain’s still on holiday or something. But still. A move night with you would be just as fun, if not more so, because i actually know how to talk to you.” He grinned. “Me pick the film? Are you sure? It’ll probably bore you if i pick it.” He warned. “Really? That is fantastic news! I’m glad you have such great workers! It’ll take the stress off you, which is always a plus!” He noticed her looping her arms around herself and unzipped his jacket, pulling it off and offering it to her. “Cold?” He asked, not waiting for a reply as he draped the jacket around her shoulders in hopes it would help warm her up. “History can always be changed. It isn’t doomed to repeat itself. At least... I don’t buy into that.” He said genuinely. “People always think there are better people, and that’s what makes them better in themselves.” He watched her take the vase, and the flowers, worried for a moment he might have overstepped or done something foolish, but she seemed happy with it, and that small smile tugging on her lips was enough for Khamisi to beam, happy to elicit such a response from her. “Exactly right. Really they’re beautiful because they’re from your shop. Your worker... Um... Sylvie i think her name is? She helped me out. She was positively wonderful.” He nodded.
“I’m not going to lie to you: I got so sick for two weeks that I thought I was dying. Like actually dying. But look at me! I’m better now! Woohoo!” Daisy giggled. “So… how is your year so far?!”
“What?! What was wrong? Are you sure you’re feeling better? Why didn’t you tell me? Do you need any medicine? Soup?” Khamisi fretted immediately, pressing a palm to her forehead then her cheek, checking her temperature.
“Well I can’t say no to that offer, like my grades ar average but with extra studying they could be awesome. Fruits great! I just usually only munch on veg. Aww,that’s a great resolution! It helps others and get you feeling the nice helping feelings.”
“Then awesome is what we will shoot for! Veggies are plenty healthy and helpful too! Yes, well, i hope for it to be achieved this year.”
“Oh no, I love them. My adoptive mother and brother are great. I just… I have a family out there somewhere. One that I accidentally got lost from. I want to know who they are.”
“I understand that. Or i understand where you’re coming from at least. Would you adoptive mother and brother help you find them, perhaps? Lost from? That’s sad, but lovely of your adoptive mother and brother to take you in.”
“Good thing you offered because I still haven’t been able to think of one and we are already 10 days into the new year.”

“Of course! And a few weeks in isn’t too bad! What were you hoping for this year?”
“That– that would be amazing, would you really? I don’t think I’ve ever actually come up with anything for the New Year… or at least, nothing I’ve kept going for very long. Maybe I should take the chance to do something different. That’s an awfully good resolution– and you take it every year? You must really commit, wow.”
“Of course! It would be my utmost pleasure! Well is there anything in particular you’d like to achieve this year? I try to commit, anyways. I think it’s nice to have something like that to keep me going for the year.”
“It’s okay to ask. Uh, I guess that it’s because in case I do make one and I don’t go through with it, I’d feel really bad. I admit I do agree with that opinion, though. Those are pretty great, but if it’s the same every year– Wouldn’t it be a way of living? Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
“There’s nothing to feel bad about! At least you’re trying, and what is life without trying? No, no, you’re right of course. I just feel like it’s different ways of helping people every year. Last year i wanted to help people with their studies and such, but this year whilst doing that, i’d also like to help focus on people’s inner selves and happiness.”
“It’s easier to say it’s nothing than to explain the situation- some people just don’t understand. I’d rather not trouble anyone. But thank you.” Alice spoke quietly with a small smile, appreciating his kindness. “That’s a shame. Perhaps you could have a film night together to give you a chance to get to know them better. But you’re right, timing does tend to be an issue for the most part. And Happy Petals is okay- it’s sad clearing and boxing everything after Christmas, the down after the holiday season really isn’t something I enjoy. But the business is good, the new workers are remarkable I feel very lucky to have them. I suppose, some days it’s nice, it’s just a matter of perspective.” Alice spoke with a small shrug. “Oh I-” The blonde murmured, baffled by his kind words as she shook her head lightly. “Thank you- I suppose it’s just a matter of experience. My family and friends back home are every..emotional- It became easier to understand situations. I’m sure you’ll learn to over due time..it’s just interacting with different people.”
“I can’t guarantee i’ll understand, you’re right, but i’d always try to at least. Everybody deserves to be listened to. And you know you’re never any trouble to me.” Khamisi wished more then anything he could have Alice open up a bit more, but he understood how difficult it must be for her. “I’d absolutely love a film night with you! There’s nothing i’d rather do!” Khamisi exclaimed. “The holiday season won’t be too long. You’ll be unboxing and unpacking things in no time! I’m glad your workers are doing well for you. You deserve it.” He finally reached his dorm room, unlocking it, his tongue sticking out between his lips in concentration as he did, before opening the door for Alice first. “Are you? Emotional, i mean? I hope that’s not rude to ask.” He added hurriedly. “I’ll try my best. Until then, you’ll stay my inspiration.” Khamisi grinned. His room was neat, the way he liked it, and he immediately walked over to a vase, picking it up and handing it over to Alice. Inside the vase were some flowers. “Here. I picked these out for you.. With quite a bit of help.” He chuckled, honestly. “These are... Dodecatheons, i believe? But they’re also called Shooting Stars. They reminded me of your hair. Plus the name. I hope your business and you shoot to the stars. It’s just something small, and i’m sure you already know much more of flowers then i do, but i thought maybe you’d like looking at them in your apartment too, if you don’t already.” Khamisi explained, with a shrug.
“I could always join the circus this year — you know, it’s not everyday you find a teleporting fish. Either that, or make the worlds biggest pizza. I might even redye my hair from mint to pink, who knows. I’m not one for making plans, I’m the heat of the moment kind of fish. I don’t even know what I’m doing tomorrow — probably sleeping.”
“The circus? Is that a life goal? I hope you make it in! A teleporting fish? Incredible! But you’re more then just an act as well, i hope. Do you dye your hair a lot? Does it symbolise anything? I’m be terrible at dying my hair, so it’s good one of us can do it! Well, i hope heat of the moment works well for you! I’ve always been terrible at being spontaneous. Maybe you could teach me how to do it.”
“I don’t think I have any, I’m no big fan on making them, mostly because I forget about them like half a month in– But how about you? Do you have any? Maybe I could help you?”
“Really? Why’s that, if i may ask? It’s nice to try and channel change, or positivity, in my opinion. Oh no, no, nothing to help with. I always have the same resolutions. To be the best person i can be, and help as many people as i can. Not everybody is as lucky as we are, unfortunately.”
“Well I wanna work on getting my grades better,I guess? Maybe eat more fruit but nothing super big. How about you?”
“I would love to help you with your studies, if you’d like! Fruit’s always delicious! I’m glad you’ve got such goals, and i hope to help you as best i can. My resolution is to help anybody and everybody i can, of course!”
Cora thought to herself for a moment. She usually kept things to herself, but saying something to someone she doesn’t even know couldn’t be too terrible. “I guess I could tell you one, just so you can see that I get my hopes up to high. This year I’d really like to find my biological family.”
Khamisi was surprised by that, but slowly nodded, “You’re not happy with your current family?” He couldn’t help but ask gently.
