A "spike" isn't always someone playing a prank. It's more commonly a person looking to abuse you, or someone else, for their own gain, or the gain of another. It's never in your favor, even when it's harmless.

Don't risk it now, nor ever. Always ask yourself what the worst-case scenario is, if it's in a public place. You could wake up DEAD if you say "I'm overthinking this" to the wrong bubble.
