I never expected Venari to hit a milestone , let alone a second. I never expected him to take off like he has and find his way into multiple fandoms. ONCE A SEAMOUNT ORC, ALWAYS A SEAMOUNT ORC
a lot of the time i see the same misconception: that all orcs want is to fight & rage war, with a notorious reputation for being mean & cruel to a certain degree ( thanks bethesda ). that couldn't be further from the truth, especially for yatul.
as a SEAMOUNT ORC, she grew up rather secluded from the rest of Nirn & with little knowledge about the happenings on the mainland, only venturing to the nearby settlements off of the coast of daggerfall with her father to sell & trade orcish weapons. the seamount orcs never wanted war or to create an unstoppable force of deadly orcish warriors. they simply just wanted to prosper in peace on their island, without the FEAR of being persecuted or conquered by other clans or races. orcs were far too used to worrying about being pillaged or even slaughtered on the mainland, hence why a clan of orcs split off & seized control of the island of BETONY. it was a chance for them to start fresh & build something that would endure whatever came, unlike orsinium which was constantly pillaged, seized & burned down, only to be rebuilt again to have the same series of events play out over & over.
so then why did yatul decide to go to war & leave betnikh when the three banners war broke out? she loved the island & enjoyed being a warrior sworn to the chief to protect the clan at all cost, but when merchants & travellers came to the island with stories of war & death, yatul could not stand remaining secluded & separated, only to wait for one of the alliances to CONQUER betnikh & slaughter her clan.
despite the pleas of her family & her lover, during the middle of the night, she found passage to daggerfall upon a merchant’s ship, proceeding to join the covenant. her motivations for leaving betnikh & the seamount clan had nothing to do with a desire to fight or gain glory. even on the battlefield, she continues to adhere to the CODE OF MAULOCH ─ more notably known as the code of malacath in later eras ─ which entails the following:
1. Don’t steal.
2. Don’t attack without reason.
3. Fight with honor.
4. Protect your tribe.
eventually there will be a longer, more in-depth post about what her conduct on the battlefield & at sea are like ( because trust me that will be a lengthy study ) but this gives you an overview of how yatul’s lineage & upbringing as a seamount orc has had an effect on her decisions throughout her life, as well as debunks some common misconceptions about orcs on nirn.

as her time with the covenant forces grew & yatul rose through the ranks, the plague of POWER was inescapable & so was the arrogance that accompanied it. did she enjoy having every order she was given be handed down by the commander? no, yet it was a necessary evil that she had to tolerate to remain in service of the covenant & to keep her precious ship. even on betnikh, there was the clashing of ideals; however, the politics were limited since questioning the chief was a DAUNTING task ─ often resulting in a battle between the chief & the opposing orc ─ but it was rare that such confrontations ever occurred. ❛ yet you are a dog of the queen. funny how that works. ❜
