Halfway Between
Whatever’s in charge of the universe is a fucking asshole. How could it give me a guy who’s eyes turn my body to jello and my brain to mush. A guy who I could talk to for hours and still want to learn new things about. How could it give me that and in the same breath give me a woman who I never want to let go of when we touch. A woman who makes me feel like I’ll never have to be scared of anything as long as I know she’s with me. How could it give me both these things and then expect me to be able to choose. What kind of sick fucking joke is this?
Richie Tozier thinks his life is going pretty well. He’s going to the school he wants, he has a job he doesn’t hate, and he’s got a cute lab partner. Eddie Kaspbrak is his name and Richie is infatuated. He doesn’t think he’ll ever like someone as much as that boy, that is, until he meets Angela. After Richie watches her perform at a local nightclub he can’t stop thinking about her. It doesn’t help that he keeps going back and they keep hitting it off. What is he supposed to do with his growing feelings for both Eddie and Angela. What is he supposed to do when his heart is tugging in two directions and he doesn’t want to say no to either.
Eddie Kaspbrak thinks he’s got his life in order. He’s going to the school he wants, he has a job he doesn’t hate, and he’s got a cute lab partner. He’s growing closer to Richie in more way than one. He can’t tell who Richie likes more; the him that’s his bio-lab partner, or the him that dresses in drag and performs under the name of “Angela”. How can he tell Richie the truth when it could destroy everything that they had built between them.

It has been almost two hours since he’s left the airport. Bill and Stan had offered to keep him company, but Richie had refused. He really just needed to be alone. He thought about going home, and but that would’ve been too much for him. Because the truth is, even though Eddie hasn’t stepped foot into the apartment in over a year, his presence still lingered. Sometimes Richie would come home, and the scent of the other man’s cologne was in the air, like he had just walked across the room. Sometimes, Richie would wake up in the morning to the faint sounds of pots and pans clanking in the kitchen, only to see an empty room when he stepped outside. Sometimes, he swore he heard the shower running, and if he listened hard enough, he could almost hear Eddie humming one of his tunes.
Richie was now laying down on a park bench, staring up at the sky, the moon barely visible through the clouds. This park was his place to go to when he wanted to escape the rest of the world. Back when he and Eddie were together, he would go here when they got into their fights, and Eddie needed to be alone. It was where he went to clear his head, and the only place that didn’t have a strong lingering memory of Eddie. It was almost 10:00pm now, so the park was pretty much empty, except for a few homeless people scattered around. It cold tonight, and he cursed himself for forgetting to bring his pack of cigarettes with him. With the excitement of running to the airport and confessing to his lover, Richie had only remembered to grab his jacket and keys. He thought back to everything that had happened to him in the past hour, and he felt like an idiot. He should’ve listened to his gut feeling and stayed away from Eddie. How could he be so stupid to think that the romantic gesture was going to change Eddie’s mind? He thought back to the moments when they first broke up. Richie had never felt pain as badly as when Eddie dumped him, not even when Henry Bowers almost killed him.
The first few months had been the hardest for him. Eddie had simply said that the relationship was becoming too much for him to handle. He had a job offer in London, ad he was going to take it. His flight was in a week. Richie remembered how hard he had cried, apologizing over and over again. He remembered telling Eddie he wanted to go with him. He remembered pleading with him that he would change, that he’d fix his habits for him. But Eddie had been resolute. He had said he needed to get away from everything, to get away from Richie. That was what hurt him the most. Because for as long as he could remember, Eddie had been the only one to stick by Richie’s side. Eddie was the one that comforted him through the hard nights when he felt like he wasn’t worth anything. Eddie was the one that patched up his wounds when he got into fights. Eddie was the one beside him, stroking his back, when he was bent over a toilet from too much alcohol. Eddie was the one he woke up to the next day when his head was pounding. And Eddie was the one Richie always ran to when life was too much for him to handle. He had been so fucked up that the one person with the most patience in his life couldn’t bare to be with him.
The only way for Richie to cope with the lost of Eddie was to be drunk, or high, or both. For the first two months of the break up, he was probably sober for a combined total of seven days. He knew it was hard for his friends to see him the way he was. It was probably the hardest for Stan, because Stan had been by his side during those times, and he was thankful. Because without Stan, Richie doesn’t think he could’ve made it through this past year. It was Stan who Richie called at 3:00am, intoxicated and crying about how much he missed Eddie. It was Stan who picked him up from bars at the early hours of the morning when he was so far gone, he could barely recognized his best friend. It was Stan who took him home, and put him to bed, and comforted him until he fell asleep. Stan the Man may have an icy cold exterior, but deep down, there was nothing he wouldn’t have done for his friends.
Richie pulled his phone out to check. He had put it on silent after receiving a few calls from Bev and choosing to ignore them. He figured it was time to at least let his friends know he was okay. He had gotten a dozen texts and missed calls from his friends, but there was one notification that caught his attention. One new voicemail from Eddie Spaghetti, sent over forty five minutes ago. He pressed play and put the phone to his ear.
“R-Richie…” Eddie’s voice was shaking. “Rich, I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. For everything. F-for leaving you last year. For walking away earlier, without saying anything. I-,” he paused, trying to calm his breathing, “Please understand. I have a life in London that I can’t just drop.” You dropped everything you had in New York to go to London, Richie thought bitterly. “I’m doing what I’ve always dreamed of, Rich,” his voice was breaking. Richie felt his own tears fall down his face and closed his eyes, clutching onto the phone. “I just wish it was easier for us, you know? Like how it was in the beginning. I mean, it wasn’t easy in Derry, but we had each other, and it was enough,” he could hear the soft crying on the other end. “Y-You have no idea what this weekend meant to me. To see you, and to be with you. Us together, with all our friends, like old times. It was-,” Eddie sniffled, “It was perfect.” There was a pause, and Richie thought the voicemail had ended, but Eddie spoke again. “You were my first love. My only love. I’ve never felt about anyone what I felt with you. You were my first kiss, my first… everything. I have so much that I want to say… so much I should say… But I-” Eddie’s breathing grew heavier, and there was another long pause. “Oh, fuck this.”
Richie’s eyes shot open, he could hear shuffling on the other side of the phone.
“Sir, please take your seat and put your seat belt back on. The plane will be taking off shortly.”
“I need to get off.”
“I’m sorry, sir, but-”
“I need to get off this plane!”
“Sir, you can’t-”
The voicemail ended abruptly. Richie frantically tried calling Eddie back, his heart beating out of his chest, fingers fumbling to dial the phone. He didn’t know if he was shaking from the cold or nerves. The first call went straight to voicemail. So did the second. And the third. “FUCK!” Richie yelled. “Eddie, Eds, baby, please pick up. Please tell me you got off the plane. Please, Eds, just-”
“I got off the plane.”
Richie spun around so quickly, his phone almost fell out of his hands. Standing a few feet from him, a faint light from the street lamp shining upon his face, was Eddie Kaspbrak. They both stood still, not knowing what to say.
“I-”
“How-”
They both went silent, waiting for the other to speak first.
“How’d you know I was here?” Richie finally asked.
Eddie shrugged and slowly started closing the distance between them. “I… I don’t really know. I remembered you used to come here whenever you had a bad day and… Bev drove me everywhere, but we couldn’t find you. I was just hoping…,” he sighed. “Richie,” his voice cracked, “Richie, I love you. I love you so much. I’m sorry I didn’t say it earlier. And I’m sorry I left last year. I’m sorry for everything. I-”
Richie rushed forward and crashed his lips onto Eddie’s. His hands reached up to hold onto the smaller man’s face, as he felt his arms wrap around his waist. Richie could smell Eddie’s cologne. A smell that was both foreign and familiar. A smell that somehow still lingered in the apartment they used to share. A smell that Richie had missed so much. He felt rain falling lightly around them, but he didn’t care as he pulled Eddie closer to deepen the kiss, only breaking apart briefly to breathe before diving back in. When they finally broke apart, they were both breathing heavily, still holding each other. “Is this real? Please tell me this is real. Tell me you’re actually here with me right now. That this isn’t another dream because I’ve had too many like this, and I don’t think I can handle another one, Eds.”
“I’m here, Chee. It’s real, I promise.”
A/N: let me just tell you that it was actually very hard to decide on whether to write a happy ending or a sad one, but I opted for the former (: I do want to thank everyone’s support for this fic, because honestly I have no confidence in my writing, so thank you for all your kind words <3

AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHH
richie and eddie have been dating since like junior year of high school and even though the thought of marriage scares him to death, he knows he wants it with eddie. because he’s been in love with eddie since before he knew what love really meant. he knows that what he feels with eddie is special and he’ll never recreate that with anyone else.
it’s getting closer to the end of senior year which means college and separation for all the losers club and it scares richie. it scares him because life has always been unkind and he’s afraid he’s going to lose eddie. he’s afraid that eddie is going to go to college and start doing what he loves and eventually richie will be a thing of the past.
so they’re hanging out at the quarry one night, stargazing and richie is uncharacteristically quiet and it worries eddie. richie is laying on eddie’s stomach, one hand intertwined with eddie’s. eddie’s other hand is running through richie’s curls. both of them wishing they could stay like this forever.
“marry me” the words escape eddie’s mouth before he could stop himself. but once he said it out loud, he realizes he wants it more than anything else in his life. richie lays still. waiting for eddie to take his words back or say that it was an accident. when he doesn’t, richie sits up and turns to his boyfriend.
“what if you change your mind?”
“what? why would I?” richie shrugs. “you’re an idiot, tozier” eddie sits up and wraps his arms around richie’s waist and rests his chin on the other boy’s shoulder. “I don’t understand how after more than a year of us dating, after knowing that I’ve been in love with you since we were kids… I don’t understand how you can doubt that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I will never change my mind about you, rich. you’re everything I’ve ever wanted, and I can’t believe you would think otherwise.”
richie doesn’t realize he’s crying until he feels the wetness on his cheeks. eddie kisses away his tears and they hold each other for the rest of the night.
“I love you”
“I love you more”
* * * 6 years later * * *
richie and eddie are standing in front of their friends, saying their vows.
richie: “my eddie spaghetti, I didn’t know what love was before I met you. I didn’t know I was capable of caring for someone as deeply as I care for you. 6 years ago, when you proposed to me at the quarry, I was scared. I realized I wasn’t scared of marriage, but I scared I wasn’t going to be enough for you. scared that I was going to somehow ruin this relationship and you would leave, because that’s all I’ve ever known. but now, standing in front of you, seeing you… I’m not scared anymore. because you taught me to not be afraid. you’re the reason for my happiness. and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you. and adopt a bunch of brats.”
everyone is crying at this point and eddie doesn’t even wait for the minister to tell him, he launches himself at richie and kisses him with more passion than he ever did.

Letters to Richie
Word count: 565
Hi Rich, It’s me, Eds. Remember when I used to tell you how I hated being called that? I guess I never realized how much I was going to miss it if you had stopped. Probably because back then I always thought you were going to be by my side forever. How foolish of me, right?
I heard you got a job as a radio DJ. I’m happy for you. I wish I could be with you to share your triumphs, but as long as you’re happy doing what you love, that’s enough for me. I tried listening to your show, but it was too much for me to hear your voice.
I’d be lying if I say you don’t cross my mind. Truth is, you’re in there all the time. It makes me wonder if I’m ever on yours, even though deep down I know the answer to that. I can’t lie. It hurt a lot to hear you say you didn’t want me the same way I wanted you. But what can I say? I don’t know why I had hoped for a different answer. I was always just a little brother in your eyes, wasn’t I? I was so stupid to think you felt anything more towards me. I was stupid to build up a dream of us inside my head. It’s all my fault we ended up here. Not talking, not existing in each other’s lives. I often wonder if it would’ve been better to just not tell you how I felt. What if I had just lived the rest of my life, loving you in secret?
I found some of our old pictures the other day. My ma dropped off a box of old memories from my old house. I guess she thought I’d like to see my childhood friends’ faces again. There were all kinds of pictures of all seven of us… The Losers Club. All hanging out at the quarry, riding our bikes, having sleepovers. The good times, right?
I love you. Notice how it’s not past tense? I don’t think I’ll ever stop loving you. I love you more than words, but I couldn’t get you to do the same. I know there was never a “we,” so there would be no sequel for us. It’s not your fault you don’t love me back, right? I would never blame you because that’s not fair. I’m broken and bruised. Lonely, empty, stupid, and still wondering if you’re wondering why I’m never around. I wonder if you wonder what I’m doing right now.
I came across your online profile the other day. It looks like you found the love that I was hoping I could be. I still wish it was me you had your arms around, but I guess I have to live with the reality that it will never happen. Maybe one day, I’ll be able to move on from you.
Have a good life, Trashmouth.
Eddie folded up the letter, slipped it into an envelope, and sealed it. He wrote the date on the front along with Richie Tozier and the address to the radio station, and walked over to his filing cabinet. He opens up the middle drawer, and puts the letter behind the fourteen other letters he had written. All of them addressed to a man that would never be able to read them.

I live in Mideastern USA and this explains almost every winter
Net neutrality is the principle that Internet providers like Comcast & Verizon should not control what we see and do online. In 2015, startups, Internet freedom groups, and 3.7 million commenters won strong net neutrality rules from the US Federal Communication Commission (FCC). The rules prohibit Internet providers from blocking, throttling, and paid prioritization—"fast lanes" for sites that pay, and slow lanes for everyone else.

Time to call your members of Congress, again.
Please guys, don’t ignore this stuff. This will negatively affect everyone and we need to stop it.
Prepare to be annoyed by me because I’ll never stop reposting about this until something is done
I hate diverging into reality on here. But this will end the internet as we know it. Its one thing you should hate if you’re left or right wing. Its not about promoting business. Its corporate greed. 3 big telecom companies gaining control of everything.
So call your senators. And your representative. Tell them to make net neutrality law. Then call them the next day. And then the day after. And keep calling every single day. Fax them. Email them. Best yet show up at their offices in person. At town halls. At public appearances. Do not let up.

the people need heterophobia in all parts of the government. what are you, fpw, doing for us on that standpoint.
currently, i am working on ammending Obergefell v. Hodges, 576 U.S. ___ (2015) so that same sex marriage is the ONLY legally binding union recognized by the government.

The Art of Falling in Love (With a Stranger): Part 7
You put your head in your hands and groan before straightening up, posting a scowl onto your face, and opening your door.
“How’d you figure out where I’m staying.” you say flatly.
Finn’s mouth twitches—almost in a smile—nervously. “A good magician never reveals his secrets.”
“What do you want?” You still haven’t opened the door wider and the both of you know he’s not welcome in.
“Y/n, I fucked up,” Finn says without preamble. “I know you would never cheat on me and I feel sick just thinking about how I didn’t trust you or how I called you those names.”
“You showed up 15 years late with Starbucks to the glaringly obvious truth,” you say tiredly, leaning on the door frame.
“I get that you won’t forgive me. Ever. I get you’ll never want to date me again—”
“You got that right,” you break in and Finn’s face crumples a bit.
“—but I miss my best friend. Before my girlfriend, you were like a breath of fresh air, a break from Hollywood and everything. I just—maybe not one-on-one, like, ever again, but couldn’t we hang out? Once in a while? I don’t think you understand how much I miss you.” Finn finishes his speech and peers up at you through a curtain of black hair like a kicked puppy.
“Let me get this straight.” You stop slouching. “You call me names, have no trust in me, and then just when I’m doing fine on my own you’ve come crawling back for forgiveness?” You snort. “Not gonna work, Wolfhard.”
You start to close the door but Finn’s hand shoots out and stops the momentum. “Wait!” He looks desperate. “If not friends, can we at least tolerate each other’s presences?”
“I wasn’t the one that started this,” you say softly. “Why are you asking my permission?”
But something compells you to open the door wider and you turn and walk further into the hotel room.
Finn, recognizing the invitation, follows dutifully.
“Want some tea?” you offer awkwardly after you’ve stared at the microwave for a full minute and Finn has stuffed his hands into his pockets and slouched.
“Sure,” he says gratefully, happy for anything you’re willing to give him. Even if it’s just tea.
You brew the tea in silence, almost brooding, before handing one cup to Finn and surprising him with these words: “Ollie asked about you yesterday.”
Finn doesn’t even try to hide the smile slowly spreading across his face. He knows you’d do anything for your little cousin. You also wouldn’t have brought up Ollie asking about him if you weren’t secretly telling Finn you wouldn’t be as averse to him winning you back as you say you are.
You let out a harumph at his smirk-smile. “I swear, the kid’s getting more devious every day.” You let out a long-suffering sigh. “But, as an answer to if we can be in the same room, I guess yeah.”
Finn’s beam makes it worth it.
“I’ll tolerate you,” you emphasize and said smile wavers. It’s going to take a lot more than an apology to make you forgive him.
“What if I won you back?”
Your small grin contradicts with your challenge: “You could try, loser.”
Finn chooses to listen to the smile.
Of course you’re not going to forgive Finn right away. You’re not going to date him. You’re not going to make an effort with him.
You’d repeated those words all morning before arriving at the studio, where Finn greets you with a huge smile that makes your heart flutter and a tall hot cocoa from Starbucks—you hate the taste of coffee. “Morning, Y/n!” he says, the sun practically shining out of his smile.
Suddenly you can’t remember exactly what you’d been telling yourself all morning.
Then you see Caleb’s shocked face and you’re rudely reminded.
“Thanks,” you say unenthusiastically and then hand the cocoa to Gaten right in front of Finn.
Gaten takes it, nervously glancing inbetween you and Finn. It’s only a testament to how you’re more intimidating with daggers shooting out of your eyes than Finn is. He looks nervous enough to faint, right in the middle of a fight between two extremely dangerous people. When did this developement happen? Gaten wonders deliriously. He’s not sure which Y/n/Finn relationship he likes better: Y/n and Finn making him want to vomit with his cuteness, Y/n and Finn fighting, or Y/n and Finn locked in a dance he doesn’t know the moves to.
You feel slightly smug at Gaten’s panic.
Finn just clenches his jaw and nods slightly. He can do this.
To anyone who’d been watching the dynamic between you and Finn, they would have been confused. To them, Finn would shower you with attention and praise and you would brush him off as if he were a pesky gnat.
They would wonder why Finn isn’t with someone who’ll treat him right.
Finn wonders why he’s spending all this effort to get you to even look at him again.
I think, Finn muses as you go over your script one last time, mouthing the words, the second she commented on my post I was a goner. It’s always been y/n for me.
This is hard. You can’t help but remember what it’d felt like when Finn had smiled at you, fire erupting in your cheeks and spreading down your cheeks
“You fucking whore!”
and how amazing it’d felt when he’d told you he loved you
“Cheater!”
and what it was like to have his cool fingers intertwine with yours.
It’s harder to pretend disdain or disgust when you look at the soft curls you were addicted to running your hands through
glare melting your smile
and how entertaining memorizing lines became with him.
she was holding me back
You can’t help but remember laughing at him as he wiped out on the Flow Rider at Great Wolf Lodge
hardly controlling or abusive but could have steered down that path if I hadn’t ended it
and how adorable he’d looked while being frustrated that the dragon in MagiQuest wasn’t dying.
“I swear I’m going to change my hotel room if it’s Finn again!” you shout, rubbing your eyes and running a hand through your hair before flinging your door open.
Big surprise. Finn beams at you, ‘Miss Missing You’ by Fall Out Boy playing on his phone. He hands you a bouquet of marigolds. “Can I show you something?” he asks without preamble.
“Why?” you grump, looking down at your pajamas and just now realizing with some embarrassment that you’re not wearing a bra.
Okay, Finn gets some brownie points because you can feel his eyes fixed firmly on the crown of you head as you crane it—he’s not using this chance to ogle.
“I have a surprise!” he says simply and is delighted when you don’t trash the marigolds immediately—you set them carefully on the nearest footrest in your humongous hotel room.
“This better be good,” you frown, crossing your arms over your chest. “It’s—what time is it?”
“1:24,” Finn says. “Don’t worry about that; tomorrow’s Saturday.”
“We still have a rehearsal,” you point out.
Finn waves his hand flippantly. “Eh.”
“Where are you taking me?”
“To the roof.”
“There’s a roof?” The second that comes out of your mouth you feel extremely dumb. Finn snickers. “You know what I mean.”
A squeal leaves your throat when you see what he’d prepared for you—candles are arranged in a big heart with just enough room for a tall thermos of hot cocoa.
“Aww,” you coo, your hands on your cheeks. “How sweet!”
“That’s not all,” Mike murmurs. You can see the reflections of the stars in his wide eyes.
“What?”
He points up and you gasp. You’ve never seen a meteor shower in real life before!
“Wanna dance?” Finn asks shyly, holding out a hand.
You shouldn’t.
You do.
Finn twirls you under the stars, you in your pajama-clad glory, with your retainer in and uncombed hair and then he tells you he loves you and he’ll keep telling you until you say it back again.
“What if I can’t?” you ask and neither of you have noticed that you’ve stopped swaying to the music.
“Then I’ll still say it every day.”
You can feel his breath licking over your face like fire and you inhale sharply.
“Can I?” Finn asks, tilting his head.
You close your eyes and his lips brush against yours for one millisecond and one eternity and then you pull away, resting your forehead on his. He can see the conflicted look in your eyes.
You turn and glide back to your hotel room. When you wake in the morning, the thermos of hot cocoa is on your bedside table.
“I will sing to you every day If it will take away the pain Oh and I’ve heard you got it, got it so bad ‘Cause I am the best you’ll never have…
Baby, you were my picket fence I miss missing you now and then Chlorine kissed summer skin I miss missing you now and then Sometimes before it gets better The darkness gets bigger The person that you’d take a bullet for is behind the trigger Oh, we’re fading fast I miss missing you now and then…”
