Now that I’ve finished my exams, I want to put what grades I think I’ve gotten and then when I receive them in August, I’ll reblog this and put what I actually got. Let’s hope I don’t completely embarrass myself here!!

English Literature : 7

English Language : 8

Maths : 7

Biology : 8

Physics : 6

Chemistry : 6

History : 6

Spanish : 7

Art : 6

(For those who don’t understand these grades, they’re relatively new and used for GCSEs in the UK. The scale is from 1-9 with nine being the highest and equivalent to an A*)

RE: 8 (the papers went really well but I only started trying for RE a month before the exam. The practice essays I'd had marked had near full marks but in mocks before I took it seriously, I was getting 6s)

Biology: 8

Chemistry: 8

Physics: 9

Hospitality: Level 2 Distinction

History: 8 (always been confident with history papers but some questions messed me up and I always get less marks than I presumed)

ICT: Level 2 Distinction* (easiest GCSE ever lol)

~ From a state schooler who had a not so great time and needed to do everything in 6 months

Design Technology: 8 (had three days to learn the content, it makes sense tbh)

English lit: 5 😔 (girl don’t even talk to me about this 😩 I had something similar happen during my A-level geography exam it was ROUGH)

English lang: 8 (happy with this)

Geography: 7 (had that issue of potential heatstroke and not being able to focus during paper 3, idk why I keep getting this curse for subjects that I love but oh well)

French: 8 (few marks off a nine because I forgot to do the last question ARRGHH it’s been over two years and I still remember precisely how my heart DROPPED once I realised lol)

Citizenship: 7 (genuinely don’t think I did much revision for this in comparison to other subjects? Just a lot of quizzes and listening to podcasts, then a stellar infodump during the exam)

Chemistry: 6 (I got two marks off of a seven for all the sciences and maths. Genuinely that’s a feat and I’m not sure how I did it HAHA)

Physics: 6 (literally fell asleep in one of the exams so…huh)

Biology: 6

Maths: 6

Outcome: got into the sixth form I wanted, but most of all, gained better study skills and self discipline (also helped my mental health a LOT)

A little note: A lot of the study content online features people from good schools (no shade at all, they’re just making the most of the opportunities they’ve been born in to), so I just want to mention that I got the best grades out of all my cousins. Yes I did try hard and my specific school was shit, but I also live further south, in a more affluent area, and had good sixth forms/colleges nearby that I could aspire to. I also didn’t need to get a job. Even if I was in a bad situation, my geographical location was the biggest thing that helped me. So please don’t feel bad when comparing yourself to people with better grades than you, because it likely comes from privilege.

Hey guys, sorry I pissed off for a few days lol. I couldn’t think of much to say about DT since all I felt before, during, and after that exam was fucking numbness. I’m so glad I never have to learn it again though. I reckon I did pretty decent in the paper and that combined with the NEA score will hopefully mean I do well, but I guess we won’t know until august.

Time to review the physics papers! They were so goddamn good I actually had a blast taking them. Honestly sure I got a 9 LOL. And the magnetism questions were damn well delicious. Not even to mention it was an extremely satisfying final exam. So glad exam season is over. Can't wait for results day and to see what I got!
