âMy point being that you donât even know the worth of money, how much that kind of money could change someoneâs life. Iâm just saying, maybe try out the gym, itâs not so bad. Plus, if your plan works out, you wonât be staying here long anyway, right?âÂ
âIâve given loads of money to charity, not that I owe you an explanation for what I do with my hard earned money.â She rolled her eyes. âJust because I wonât stay long doesnât mean I have to sacrifice my comfort when I can have what I want with a little bit of money.â
fckdylankâ:
âYouâre going to be really upset when you realize exactly how much Springhill lacks compared to Los AngelesâŚâ
âIâm beginning to realise that.â
brionyhqsâ:
âYouâd really do that?â Bri frowned at her. The thought of being able to throw money around like that shocked her. âIt is a luxury, itâs just not a luxury for you, which kinda shows your privilege- what am I saying? Kinda- definitely.âÂ
âWhy not?â If she wanted something sheâd get it. âI worked hard to earn my own money, why shouldnât I spend it? Itâs not like it costs that much, a couple of thousands should cover the equipment.â Her new Birkin bag cost more than that. âYour point being?âÂ
j-shuahoodâ:
âTotally. I like to consider myself a badass.â Joshua chuckled at his own joke. âSmash it? Damn, I would have just removed it. I canât tell you how many times Iâve forgotten to get batteries for mine and had to do that.â He looked over at Kiana, glad she could take a joke. Usually, he liked to remain professional with his clients - and they were typically older, so he had to watch what he said. âOh yeah? Gotta see if I can walk the walk before we talk the talk.â It was a lame joke, but that was one of his specialties.
âOh do you? Thatâs hot.â She winked, letting out a soft laugh, humoring him. Itâs been a while since she talked to someone that seemed so... normal? Which was normally something she used in a negative way, but she didnât now. His work was mostly him using his hands, sheâd be terrible in anything going remotely in that direction. She couldnât even remember the last time she hung up a picture by herself. âIt was annoying, so we got our anger out on it. It got what it deserved.â The noise was unbearable. âDidnât you read? Iâm number three on Peopleâs list of most eligible bachlorettes of 2019. Canât be giving out all my secrets immediately.â
brionyhqsâ:
âYouâre going to have to,â Bri replied, not even looking up at Kiana. âWe donât have the luxury of working out at soul cycle or whatever that is.âÂ
âIâll get some builders have and transform the basement into a home gym. Itâs not a luxury, itâs a neccessity.â
dcnteismsâ:
â this place is fucking mental, â he remarked, shaking his head. â i barely even mind it being public, but you can fuckinâ tell there was just some sweaty motherfucker there before. â
âTell me about it. It looks like theyâre stuck in 2010.â She sighed, grown accustomed to the luxurious lifestyle sheâd been living. âEw. Just the thought is making my skin crawl.â
fckdylankâ:
ââŚitâs literally a tiny town in the middle of nowhere New Jersey. Can I ask what made you think there WOULD be aâŚwhatever it is youâre looking for?â
âBecause there should be one everywhere. Again, itâs called soulcycle. Look it up.â
j-shuahoodâ:
âItâs similar to when you wonât change the batteries in your smoke detector. You hear the beeping for a bit but after a while you donât even notice it until someone points it out to you. I have a bunch of ear plugs in my van but rarely ever do I use them. Probably not good but what can I say, I live my life on the edge.â Joshua didnât know much about Kiana. Her assistant didnât mention much about her, just that he had to sign an NDA and that the word ânoâ shouldnât exist in his category for this job. Definitely made things interesting. âNo current projects right now. Just moved here last week, so word isnât out yet that Springhill has a new handyman in town. Your assistant must have searched all over for me.â He chuckled. Joshua was unsure how he landed a client with no budget for his first job here, but he wasnât complaining. âWell, I hate to disappoint - it is the dirty talk I specialize in. You donât want to hear my actual dirty talk. Itâs a trainwreck.â It was true. After being with his ex for so long, he had no idea how to flirt anymore.Â
âYouâre living quite dangerously, huh?â She chuckled. âI just had someone smash the one I had in my other place because the noise was annoying me. Went off every time someone as much as light a cigarette.â Kiana rolled her eyes at the memory. Safety wise it definitely hadnât been the best idea, but she didnât think twice about that if she was being honest. Having a good time and enjoying herself were always on top of the list of her priorities. âGlad to hear that.â At least that should mean that her house would be finished sooner rather than later, which she was pleased about. Still she refused to give credit to her assistant, she wouldnât have found him if Kiana hadnât told her what she wanted. âI have been told itâs one of my many skills. âd offer to give you lessons, but I think itâs better to wait until after my houseâs finished.âÂ
j-shuahoodâ:
âIâve been a carpenter since I was eighteen and was working with these things way earlier than that. Iâll be thirty this year. You get used to the sound when youâve been around it for so long. Either that or my hearing is shot. Iâm sure a lot of people would appreciate silent tools.â Joshua began to examine the basement, walking around and taking in everything. He listened as Kiana talked, nodding his head. âMâalways down for a challenge. Being new here, I donât have much going on, so might as well put my heart and soul into some projects. Iâm not afraid of much.â When it came to houses, Joshua could always see what others couldnât. âThe floors alone - see, upstairs used to be carpet and underneath was the hardwood you have now. All you gotta do with those floors now is sand them and stain them and theyâll be a beaut. Itâll be nice too if you ever decide to sell the house.â Joshua noticed the look on her face and he chuckled. âSorry. Renovation talk is like my dirty talk. Gets me excited.â He joked. âCanât help but crack a few jokes. Iâll remain professional for the rest of this.â
âIâve begun professionally acting at eighteen as well. Moved out to L.A by myself. Oh, if I had to bet Iâd put money on you not being able to hear it anymore if youâve been working with that stuff for so long.â So he was about her age, which didnât matter in the grand scheme, but he was nice to look at so it was good to know. Beards did a lot for guys, so she wouldnât have been that surprised if heâd told her he was younger or older than he actually was. âI like the sound of that. I want this project to be your top priority, Iâll pay more if you wonât do other places in the time youâre working on my house. Splitting your time up between different projects means mine will take longer and patience has never been my strong suit.â Money wasnât the issue, but there were only 24 hours in a day and she was thinking of what would be the best for her and that would be having her house done the way she wanted it to as fast as possible. âI donât understand half of what you just said, but for the record, I prefer actual dirty talk.â She winked. âI can take a joke.â As long as it wasnât about the work sheâd done or herself.Â
j-shuahoodâ:
âIâll try my best to keep quiet, but it gets a little impossible once I have the tools running. They donât make âem quiet. Itâll be worth it in the end, I promise.â He flashed her a smile. He had every intention on keeping that promise. Ever since he was young, Joshua took pride in his work. As soon as his dad could hand him power tools, he did. He looked up to his dad and was thankful for everything he had taught him. âAwesome. I can work with whatever you may through at me. I didnât earn those five stars for nothinâ.â He chuckled. It wasnât gonna be an easy one man job - he definitely would be missing his crew from back home - but it wasnât impossible. It took only two people to build up his parents house, so this shouldnât be too bad. Plus, Kiannaâs budget wasnât really like anyone else he had worked with - hers seemed limitless, which did help. He nodded and kept mental note of her requests. âThis house is definitely a beauty, even without my work.â
âYeah, no worries, I understand. Itâs not your fault. Although someone should definitely consider working on figuring out how to lower the noise levels. There surely would be a big market for that. The money some people would save on noise complaints would surely be enough to fund this.â Kiana was speaking off handedly, not putting much thought into if something like this was actually possible or not. It wasnât really her area of expertise, her talents laid elsewhere. âIs that a challenge?â She raised an eyebrow, a smirk appearing on her lips once again. This was only the first room of the house she was going through with him after all, there were still quite a few to come, but she liked that he was up for her requests. She knew what she wanted after all and if he didnât want to do it she would find someone else. âI guess itâs fine. For a last minute buy. My parents sold the house I grew up in once they retired and I bought them the house in Florida, but it wouldâve been too small for me anyways. Small places make me claustrophobic.âÂ
j-shuahoodâ:
âMy mistake. Kiana it is. I promise those werenât my intentions. I think youâre far from an old woman.â Joshua chuckled. Maâam was just a habit of his - if his momma heard him referring to someone other than by their name or maâam/sir, sheâd probably slap him. He didnât question Kiana any further when she made the comment about her assistant. It wasnât his place to pry. Besides, this was just a job. No need to get any more involved. âAlright, seven it is.â He followed her through the house, eyes roaming and checking everything out. He made mental note of some of the things he may have to come back to - and some of the supplies he had to pick up. He was grateful that her assistant had gone over some of the things Kiana had wanted, but he had a feeling there was going to be a lot more than what had been originally planned. He wasnât nervous though, as he knew his work was done well and had never received any complaints in the past.Â
âThank you. Oh, donât worry, I figured it wasnât.â The corners of her lips turned upwards slightly, a small smirk playing on her lips. If there was one thing she wasnât lacking it was self confidence, but everyone had insecurities even if they put up a good front. âGreat. Iâll have Mandy let you in, but I doubt Iâll be able to sleep much with the noise anyways.â Might as well put her to work if she was living in her guest room now, reporting back to Kianaâs manager. She thought it was unnecessary and that she didnât need a babysitter, she didnât have a substance abuse problem, she just liked to have some fun from time to time, that was all. There was no harm in that. There wasnât a lot she knew about him, but from previous clients accounts she hadnât seen any complaints so she hoped heâd be able to deliver what she wanted and in her desired time frame. âMandy has been in contact with my personal trainer back home, heâll send you a list of the equipment that weâre ordering so you know the size of everything. I want new flooring and all the walls need to be painted a fresh coat of white. Also I was thinking about installing AirCon and adding a bathroom down there as well seeing as this house only has three bathrooms.â She was used to living in a big house, several of her friends staying over. Each Bedroom in her Mansion back home had an Ensuite, obviously.
j-shuahoodâ:
Joshua offered Kiana a sheepish smile before stepping inside of her home. âMâsorry, maâam. I like to start my work early - especially when Iâm the only one on it.â He adjusted his toolbelt that was slung over his shoulder. âMhm. First thing that was done. I had barely given any details on my work before that thing was handed to me.â While others might argue Joshua lived under a rock at times, he did know who Kiana was. She was an actress, he wasnât sure on what, but he knew she was a pretty big name. First gig working in a celebrityâs house, thatâs for sure. He was used to doing house calls for little old ladies or newlyweds. Not a job heâd say no to, especially being new to town. Heâd take anything he could get. âIf you really do have a problem with the time I show up, just let me know and Iâll make sure I swing by at the times youâd prefer. Either way doesnât really matter to me.â
âYou can call me Kiana. Mâam makes me sound like an old woman from the 18th Century.â Although it didnât sound quite so bad coming from his lips she still grimaced at the thought of getting old or someone perceiving her as such. Being in the business she was youthful appearance was extremely valued, especially for women. Men were constantly cast to have love interests in their twenties even when they were well above forty. âOkay. Thatâs good. Iâm glad sheâs finally doing some things right.â She didnât start of on the best foot with her new assistant as her manager had fired her old one for supplying her with the pills in the first place. âI appreciate the flexibility, but I do want to get everything done as quickly as possible and if that takes waking up a bit earlier, then so be it. I canât live like this. Thereâs a lot to be done. Come on, follow me. We can start with the basement. I was thinking of converting it into a gym.â She wanted her privacy while working out.Â
âWhen I said you can come by the house between seven and twelve, I was more thinking about twelve and not eight-thirty in the morning...â Kiana sighed, stepping to the side to let him get inside. Being on set so much made her get used to early call times, but that still didnât mean she was a morning person. âDid my assistant give you the NDA to sign yet? Itâs standard protocol since youâre gonna be working in my house.âÂ

âWell if youâre worried about getting bruised or something, just cover yourself in bubble or something. Youâre guaranteed to be bruise free and you get the fun of the popping the bubbles if you fall.â She smiled.Â
âAny other genius ideas you might have?â Kiana scoffed, rolling her eyes not seeing the humor of the situation at all.
