Kiara always loved this time of year; even when her parents didn’t give her the attention she wanted and needed, her nanny and partly her parents still made the holidays special for her, especially Christmas. She was at the winter market wandering around and taking her time at each table when she looked up to meet eyes with Luca. “Hey Luca,” she said with a bright smile, happy to see him and happy to be friends as her and his sister, Isla were pretty much best friends too. “How are you? Are you shopping for Isla right now?” She asked the last question more teasingly with a chuckle.

A couple of times a month, Kiara and Natalia always meet up at either of their houses to have a wine night and this time, it was at Kiara’s place. The newscaster really needed these wine nights with her best friend as she always had a hard time relaxing and having fun in general. Ever since the Halloween event, she had been getting out more which she was happy about but tonight was all about being with her best friend and catching up on everything. “I always love these wine nights with you,” she said with a grin as she poured their first glasses of the night and handed it to her when she joined her on the couch. “After our wine nights, I sleep like a baby and I always feel like a new person the next day,” she admitted with a soft laugh.

When Kiara wanted to go out and party, she usually picked Aero as it was more up her ally but the group of friends that she was with tonight wanted to go to Pit Stop so she tagged along. Kiara was known for being a workaholic so when her friends asked her to join, as much as she wanted to say no, she forced herself to say yes and she was hoping that it was going to be a fun night out on the town. After taking a shot and now sipping on her cocktail, she looked around and spotted Maverick sitting at the bar and decided to approach as she hasn’t seen him in a while. “Hey Maverick, how are you?” She asked with a smile as she slid into the seat beside him.

Out for a cup of coffee, Christian hadn’t been to the Hilltop Cafe in a while. He was on his way home from another long shift at the hospital - though it was one he signed himself up for. The surgeon received his cup of coffee, glancing at the pastries for a moment before turning around to head toward a table. He had caught the eye of a woman, so it seemed. Christian smiled as she wave and he placed her from the recent Halloween festivities. “Hey,” he grinned, moving closer to her with his coffee in hand. “I’m doing much better now that I have this,” he gestured with his hand that had the coffee in it. “What about you? You need a refill or anything?” He offered with a smile. 

“Right? Coffee is a necessity in my life for sure,” Kiara said with a chuckle before taking a sip of her coffee and smiling up at him. “I’m doing well and I’m happy that I don’t look as tired as I actually am,” she admitted with a soft laugh before shaking her head to his offer about getting her a refill. “No thank you but I appreciate it.” Seeing that the cafe was filling up, she glanced at the empty seat in front of her. “Would you want to join me for a bit? That is if you’re free,” she asked with more of a smile, wanting to get to know him more.

As much as Kiara wanted to stay at work and continue working on her stories for the next couple of days, she also wanted a drink so she brought her work to Aero with her. As lame as she looked to other people, she loved what she did and was passionate about it. Taking a sip of her cocktail, she took a look around and once her eyes spotted Seth, she couldn’t help but smile. “Fancy seeing you here,” she teased as her smile grew more. “How are you tonight, Seth?”

Kiara loved working on stories at cafes around town so she settled herself down at Hilltop and already was working away at a table with her coffee order in hand and sipping on it. Taking a small break, she looked up from her work to see the newer customers walking in and that’s when she recognized someone from the Halloween event; the sexy cowboy. It wasn’t until she was caught staring at him and before he could walk over, she waved at him to not make it so awkward. “How are you doing today?”

Xavier couldn’t help but laugh at Kiara’s words her confidence was always something he’d admired. “I see being humble wasn’t on tonight’s agenda,” he joked with a shrug, leaning against the wall next to her. His costume wasn’t all too hard to figure out, a boxer, but people had guessed a multitude of different boxers. Each guess fitting seeing as he hadn’t to be any particular one. “Thanks,” he smiled over at her, then turning to survey the crowd before them. “Probably not, just here to see who wins honestly. So, is there a superman in addition to your costume?” he asked, having seen some couple costumes tonight.

Kiara laughed at his words and shrugged, “I’m just being honest and I know you think the same,” she pointed out with more of a smirk coming across her lips before turning her head to look at everyone else, admiring their costumes for those who put in the effort like she did. Turning her head over back to him when he spoke, she chuckled to his words and shook her head. “I get that, and no. No superman with me tonight though I’m sure I could find one around here somewhere,” she said as she saw many of them out tonight. “I wouldn’t mind a badass boxer by my side though, if you’re interested,” she half teased with more of a smirk again. “How about getting a drink with me?”

 Isla was almost relived when her friend pulled her off from the dance floor. For some reason, two women dancing together appeared to be like an open invitation for all the single guys in town to come rub themselves up against them. She adjusted the strap of her tank top, before tossing the braid over her shoulder. “It was!” She chuckled. “Yes!! I really need something to cool off right now, and if we are heading back out there, something to pour over the next guy that thinks it is okay to grab onto me while dancing.” She said, rolling her eyes. Normally she would have loved the attention, but in this instance, not the way it was gone about. 

Kiara laughed at her friends words along with nodding as well. “You got it babe, come on!” She grinned as she took her hand and pulled her to the bar and once they approached she ordered them both drinks before turning around towards her. “I’m so glad that we’re out together tonight. I’ve been needing a night like this and I can always count on you for one, getting me out of my house and two, for having a great time.”

Kiara’s uplifting energy was something Natalia had been sorely in need of so to have her friend offer it up so willingly meant a lot to the principal. “Well, when you out it that way, I question whether or not you should be principal with all the intelligence that point shows.” She chuckled softly, glancing over quickly before refocusing on their project to make sure she didn’t accidentally give herself a paper cut or staple herself. “I’ve been alright, just giving everything to work, per usual. But that’s not something you’re unfamiliar with. Truly I question when you sleep sometimes.” The rest of the decorating went by in a flash and they were headed out to drinks. As they settled onto stools at the bar, Nat drummed her fingertips on the wood as she pondered what to order. “First round on me, what looks good?”

Kiara couldn’t help but laugh to Natalia’s words and she swished her hair back in a teasing way with a smirk, “I’d obviously be the best principal anyone has ever seen,” she teased. She continued to help her with her crafts and another chuckle left her lips when she mentioned sleep. “Since we’re both workaholics, we need this time to get out and have some fun and I’m glad we have each other to do so,” she told her. “I get enough sleep anyways.” Soon enough, they were done crafting and out at one of the local bars in town. Settling into one of the bar stools, she looked around and ran her fingers through her hair before turning back to her best friend. “How about a round of shots and then cocktails? You can get the shots and I’ll buy the cocktails to start,” she offered with a smile.

Xavier hadn’t originally planned on coming to the country club. When he heard that there was a costume contest happening though he was easily swayed to go for two reasons. The first because he was cold and hadn’t fully thought about the boxing costume he wore and all the time he had spent outdoors. The second was simply because he wanted to see who won and what other people had decided to wear. Unlike him, there were people who considered and decided on their costume longer than a few hours. Xavier wandered the club aimlessly only pausing to maneuver around small groups, finally deciding to lean against the back wall. “You entering the contest?” he asked the person that he was joining.

As much as Kiara loved working and finding stories for work, she took this time to actually soak in all of the fun of this event. She had fun going on the haunted hayride, listening to scary stories and now she was at the costume contest debating on joining or not. Leaning against the wall, she turned her head to look at the person speaking to her and realized that it was Xavier. “As hot and as I look being Wonder Woman, I think I will,” she said with a smirk as her confidence was high in this costume. “What about you, Rocky Balboa?” She asked with a chuckle liking his boxing costume. “I like your costume.”

Not only were Kiara and Isla killing it out on the dance floor already, but they were both already being hit on by guys who wanted to dance with them so they danced even closer together and they couldn’t help but laugh. Walking off of the dance floor after a while, Kiara moved her hair to the side as she started to sweat from all of the dancing. “That was so fun,” she said with a grin, a soft laugh escaping her lips. “Do you want to go get a drink or anything?”

Sure, living in New York City meant that Seth constantly had exciting things to do and new people to meet but there were some things that never held a flame to Fallbrook’s charm. One of those things were all the town events that happened several times a year. Despite the rough year they had, people moved on. That was the difference between a city and a town. In cities, people were strangers who occasionally came together. But in places like Fallbrook, well, they were family. Seth grabbed a marshmallow and stuck it at the end of his stick before he looked over to Kiara. “You’re not seriously saying you can triple stack s’mores and not get sick of the chocolate, are you? Alright then, Ki. Let’s see it. Are you all talk or can you walk the walk?”

While Kiara had been away for many years, Fallbrook and the events that were held always had a special place in her heart. Not only were the events a lot of fun, but after everyone has gone through in the past year, a fun event like this was needed and seeing a smile on everyone’s faces made her so happy. She was now spending time with Seth and they were roasting s’mores at the campfire. “I’m Kiara Brooks and Wonder Woman tonight, I can do anything,” she said smirking with a chuckle as she put a marshmallow on the end of her stick as well. “I’m ready to see if you get any of the chocolate on your all white costume or not,” she teased, nudging him gently with her arm as they stood at the fire.

While it was a shock for everyone to see Kiara in her wonder woman getup along with having some fun, she was a little surprised herself. Work was always a priority and was always going to be, but she needed to get out and have some fun. Plus, Halloween was always so much fun and she loved getting into a costume. She knew that she looked hot as wonder woman so her confidence was high and she was happily strutting through the decorative town. Coming up on the haunted hayride and scavenger hunt, she saw a man looking hesitant. “Have you been on the haunted hayride yet or still deciding?” She asked with a soft chuckle escaping her lips.

“Rough night? Or has the coffee not kicked in yet?” She teased, taking the seat. “Thanks.” Pulling out some apple slices from her bag, she handed them to her daughter to keep her busy. “I love how she has everyone fooled. She looks all innocent and adorable but really she’s a handful,” Mara joked, making a face at the toddler to get her to laugh. “Nice to meet you, Kiara. I’m Mara and this little one is Nora. So what are you working on? Something important?”

Kiara nodded and let a soft chuckle escape her lips. “It seems like you’re doing a great job by keeping her busy so we don’t see her true colors,” she teased with a soft laugh as she looked at the adorable baby. “It’s nice to meet you as well, Mara and Nora,” she said, looking back at Mara and taking a sip of her coffee before glancing to her work and shrugging. “Just working on possible stories. I’m one of the morning newscasters in town so I’m always working on something,” she said with a chuckle. “What are you and Nora up to today? Have any fun plans?” She asked, not really wanting to talk about work at the moment as she was very tired.

Dalila wandered around the local thrift store, looking for nothing in particular. Her shared apartment with Austin and Celine didn’t really need anything else but it was the thought that counted, right? One never knew what they would find in a thrift store. “Oh shit,” she muttered as she accidentally knocked into someone. “sorry, that was a tighter fit than I expected,” she had hoped to skirt around the woman, not making a peep but instead, her hips got the best of her and knocked into the woman. She looked up at the woman, her eyes flashing with recognition at her. It was the local newscaster. She wasn’t much older than Dalila, but she hadn’t really known her. “Again, so sorry,” she grimaced, “I was just trying to see this lamp, but now that I’m here,” she frowned again, “it’s not that great.”

Kiara found herself walking around Fallbrook, taking in the autumn breeze and enjoying seeing the leaves change colors with coffee in hand. With no destination in mind, she found herself walking into Thriftmania and slowed her steps as she let her eyes wander the place. Looking at the furniture, lamps specifically, she was admiring the look of one when she was bumped into. She turned to see a woman she recognized, though she didn’t know her well. “It’s totally fine, don’t worry,” she reassured her before following her eyes to the lamp she was looking at. “I like the color of that one, just not the shape as much,” she said and pointed to the one she was looking at before. “Even though I’m not shopping for a lamp, I like the looks of this one.”

Alex had a drink with a couple of people from his racing team a bit earlier, but he had stayed behind to look over some things when he was approached by a familiar voice. He looked up, seeing Kiara there. She was unmistakable every time and always made her presence known by the way she conducted herself so he simply smiled at the woman, knowing that she’d take a seat even if he did mind but at this point he’d grown used to seeing his ex around town. As a news reported, he often saw her. Kiara even interviewed him on the race track every now and then. “Only by you.” he said, barely giving her another glance before he focused on finishing the last paragraph. Once he was done, Alex set the pages down and shifted his eyes to the woman. “Long day? I heard they had everyone working overtime at the news station with the breaking news from earlier.” 

“Good,” Kiara said as she slid into the open seat beside him and giving a wave to the bartender to get his attention. She ordered herself a vodka soda to start and ran her fingers through her hair before turning to Alex. “Yeah, it’s been quite a day,” she stopped herself for a moment, “quite a few weeks actually.” She sighed, thinking about the earthquake and how devastating and terrifying it was. Shaking her head at her thoughts, she met Alex’s eyes again and smiled. “I took a long nap earlier today, tomorrow is a day off so I’m ready to have a good time tonight!” When her drink arrived, she took a sip and licked her lips. “How have you been?”
