A sharp crackle announced the start of the broadcast, but anything spoken was drowned out by an ear-splitting screech from the dying ECHO.  Several violent outbursts of static punctuated the mechanical whine, eventually giving way to a series of howled words.

Though the ECHO clicked on, the only things picked up are a deep, inhuman snarl and the clang of metal on metal before a splash.  The broadcast shut off abruptly.

“Ya know what I totally enjoy?  Lookin’ for an entire pack’a zombies for the whole day ‘cause they’ve managed to get to god knows where ‘n leave no trace.  What the hell...”

“Kevin sat in the ocean ‘n didn’t move ‘til I picked him up ‘n carried him elsewhere ‘cause zombies gettin’ all wrinkly in the water is no good.  I guess technically he didn’t even move then, but...ya know.  He’s still sittin’ where I put him I’m pretty sure.  Weird little guy.”

“I think I’ve hidden all the firearms where the zombies can’t get to.  Hopefully I did ‘cause they’re...They’d be a handful if armed.”

“Do not let the ex-soldier zombies near weapons.  Trust me.”

“I tried to introduce Kevin to the other zombies ‘n they seemed to get along, but he’s still not stickin’ with the group when I leave ‘em on their own.  Either they’ve done somethin’ or Kevin’s got a wicked sense of adventure.”

“Kevin.  Kevin sounds good don’t it?  He looks like a Kevin.”

“The new zombies are up on their feet ‘n fittin’ in well with the older ones.  Except for that middle ground one, I guess.  He’s still just wanderin’ on his own.  I feel like I should give him a name...Craig?  Derek?  Rocco?”

“The other zombies are startin’ to wake up, but their buddy’s already wanderin’ around.  He don’t like stickin’ near the first group, but he ain’t causin’ trouble so I’m lettin’ him adventure.”

“I’ve drugged up the other bodies again, but I left the odd one out alone considerin’ he was sittin’ up ‘n lookin’ around real tired-like.  I like this guy.  We go at the same speed.”

“So the body that started twitchin’ yesterday wasn’t where I left it when I checked earlier.  Turns out the zombies somehow got him a pretty good distance from where he should’a been.  Dunno why, really.  He’s basically untouched so...Zombies’ve got weird thought processes.”

“One’a the newbies is already startin’ to stir.  Don’t think he’s gonna do much ‘til I hit him with another round but we’ll see.  I’m gonna hold off givin’ him anythin’ more for now ‘n just keep goin’ with the others.  If he don’t need more ‘n reanimates with a single dose, he’s either gonna be real strong or real, real weak.”
