Dada noticing i’ve been struggling to fall asleep lately, wandering into his room almost every night crying that i can’t sleep. Giving me special gummies while i color before bedtime, already in my pjs and teeth brushed. Telling me only good boys get to have them. Eating them without another thought, thanking dada for the treat before continuing coloring.
My eyes start sagging in the middle of coloring a page, head and body drooping against the table. Feeling dada pick me up, i wrap my legs around him. Weakly beating my fists on his chest, whining that i wanted to keep coloring.
“No, sweet boy, it’s your bedtime. I’ll leave your stuff right there so you can pick it back up in the morning, okay baby?”
Nodding my head against his neck, as he holds it there, stopping me from looking back. Dada sets me down in bed, but not my bed, much too big to be mine. Determining it’s his with a quick look around the room, dada’s clothes strewn across the floor and his stuff on the nightstand.
“You want me to go get your stuffie and blanket for bed, baby boy? Mhmm? Okay, I’ll be right back, hun”
Curling under the blankets, sinking into the well worn spot on dada’s side of the bed. Smelling his scent embedded into the sheets, a mix of clothes detergent, shampoo, and sweat. Rubbing my face across the cool fabric of his pillow, just cause it felt nice. i must’ve looked funny cause when i opened my eyes, dada was staring at me with a really weird face
“What’re you doing, sweet boy? Oh the pillow felt nice, huh? I guess that makes sense, who doesn’t love a nice, cold pillow. Well, here’s your stuffie and blanket, now move over, you’re in dada’s spot. Oh I know, you’re super comfy. But won’t it be even better to be cuddled up with dada? Yeah, it would? Well to do that, dada needs to be in his spot, cause that’s where he sleeps. Oh you’re gonna move? Thank you hunny, now I can just slip in right here….. alright c’mere baby, come cuddle up. That’s it, I know, dada’s warm, huh? Perfect for keeping his baby boy nice and cozy. Lemme just turn off this lamp….there we go. Goodnight baby, dada loves you”
