Interview: Troy Holden
Full name?
Troy Holden.
City and country where you live?
San Francisco, California in the United States.
ÂHow did you get started with street photography?
I’ve always been voyeuristic and curious about what others are doing. A long walk through the city is a great way to people watch and pass time. Sometime in 2011, I picked up a point-and-click camera and started recording what I was seeing in the streets.
Why do you shoot street photography?
It’s a personal preference. Terminology aside, I look for unposed candid moments throughout each day.
What and/or who inspires you?
The city and people of San Francisco.
Would you be uninspired outside of San Francisco?
No, but it usually takes me a couple of days to feel comfortable shooting in the streets of a new city.
Do you go often to other cities to take pictures?
I don’t leave San Francisco very often. Twice a year, I drive south to visit in-laws and shoot in downtown Los Angeles.
What is it about SF that inspires you so much?
