Iām a Food Blog and Iām about to give you some Very Un-Food Blog-Like advice.
Fresh Fruit is great but expensive. Buy Frozen Fruit.Ā Make sure itās IQF if you can. It keeps forever and is amazing in the Summertime. Especially peaches.Ā
If you have to buy canned food, rinse it first. That kills 65% of the salt.Ā
Never buy chicken breasts. Buy chicken quarters. They are under 5 dollars and if you separate the legs from the thighs, you have 6 pieces of meat.
Donāt bother with Salads. Those Steamfresh and Birdās Eye microwave veggies can go a long way.
No cereal.Ā Milk is expensive. Cereal doesnāt keep. Youāre better off oatmeal, rice or grits for breakfast.
Potatoes and Beans are great but Rice keeps for so much longer if you keep it in a ziploc bag. In spite of what other food blogs say, Uncle Bens is not the enemy. Avoid Seasoned rice if youāre sensitive to salt.Ā
Donāt bother with Olive oil or Coconut oil. Get Vegetable oil. Itās more for less and Itās still vegan.
Bottled Spaghetti sauce is good to make tomato soup.Ā
Freeze your bread. You can always microwave it.
If you taste metal in your food, switch to kosher salt.Ā
Chili can save your life and you can make it gluten free or vegan.
Be careful of frozen meals if youāre sensitive to salt or have blood sugar problems.
If you wanna go to a Farmerās Market, load up on preserves. If youāre not using ALL your fresh veg within two weeks, donāt bother.Ā
You donāt have to invest in a $30+ knife block. One chefās knife from a local supermarket is like 10 bucks. Buy that instead.
Add anything else you want but if it involves asking restaurants for leftovers or live pill bugs, donāt bother.
it finally looks like spring outside!Ā āæ

5 things I did that improved my mental health in the last 1 year
1. I realized my worth. It was so hard because it meant letting go of those who didnāt. And those were the people that I loved. It hurt so bad. When the ropes that tied them to me were cut, I got cut too. I bled. It hurt. But then those wounds healed like they always do. And Now? I am free.
2. I started taking care of myself and that involved going back to the things I learned as a child. Brush your teeth. Take a shower. Sleep on time. Sleep enough. Drink loads of water. Walk. Let your skin shower in sunlight. I keep a habit tracker. Itās simple. It lets me be conscious of my daily needs and whether or not I am fulfilling them.
3. I learned that you donāt always have to respond. To what people say, to that person texting you after 8 months of complete silence, to negative comments, to accusations. It doesnāt make you a coward. Not in the least. What it really does is, is let you be at peace. But the hard part? I also learned that you donāt always have to respond to āI love youā either.
4. I learned to not be extreme. Yes I donāt want to do anything with them. But do I need to burn their letters? Delete all pictures? Even when Iām not sure how that will make me feel in the long run? No. I learned to store it all away in a place I wouldnāt touch until I wanted to. Itās been a year. I havenāt once touched.
It works for all aspects of life. Had a bad day at work? Do you just yell and quit? No. Have 100 bad days at work where they donāt respect you but still continue to be silent and work? No any extreme isnāt good.
5. Food is important. So important. They just donāt say āyou are what you eatā to sound silly. Food is literally you putting something in yourself. You gotta be more mindful of what, when and how much youāre putting in. Donāt restrict yourself. But donāt not monitor yourself either.
let your heart be soft
Itās a whole new day! Anything could happen.
