let me. innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
the year is 2035. the new beauty standard is for women to cut their ears off, as ears are a masculine trait which make the face look too big and hearing isnt necessary as it doesnt align with being demure. evil feminists say perhaps this is unnecessary and ears are natural. women are agressively proclaiming they are cutting their ears off due to sensory issues
you would think that being a polygot opens your world up to different worldviews and opinions from different cultures and backgrounds, and yes it does but at the same time it opens me up to racism but in 5 other different languages bc tell me why am i reading and watching random news channel in south korea about the recent flood in guangxi, china and every 8 out of 10 comments are like "the god is giving punishments to the commies finally" "poor snakes the commies are going to eat them" "snakes are doing humanity a favor by eating chinese" like ???
i have been following news of the typhoon maysak that caused the big flood in guangxi, china and it's so mind-blowing every time a big natural disaster strikes china, they always bring out new ways to rescue and help their people, which is so touching to see because after one of the biggest earthquakes that happened in modern years aka the wenchuan earthquake in 2008, you know chinese people are nothing but serious and determined in saving every single live possible.
so this time this state-owned corporation has brought out the giant metal platform thingy that could literally float on top of water, and you could even control its direction to bring it to where you want and let people board on top of it. so they brought these platforms / bridges thingy to a school that had 6000+ students and faculty members stranded and they were all rescued successfully. chinese people were even saying that if only the sewol students had these too, then so many lives could have been saved back then cause we still remember seeing the recent reported news of a sewol survivor passing away after years of survivor's guilt basically.
and then the drones, gosh the drones were mind-blowing af this time. both public rescue teams like the pla, or the firefighters have drones, but a lot of farmers with their drones, and citizens have also travelled in to the city from other regions in the country with their drones to help bring in supplies to the ones who are still stranded and rescue couldn't get out yet. so many people are saying that what lights up the sky during this difficult period is the drones lights, instead of stars. and decades ago when people hear whirring and engine noises from above, it's planes and jets dropping bombs onto them but now when they hear the same noises, it's these drones that are bringing them hope in forms of food, drinks, medicine, clothing and so many more.
at one point when the flood hits, electric supply was cut off. so people couldn't contact their family or even reach the rescue teams immediately, and it was drones that flew around dropping these network hub thingies so people could connect to the internet and get cell network working again, and immediately there were programs and group chats and links made to gather and spread information.
what's even more touching is how big corporations do in this. the ones who can donate supplies have donated tons, there are a lot of local guangxi f&b brands are donating in food and drinks without even counting, they're just stuffing whatever they have in their factories into boxes as quick as they can just to get those shipped out to the relocation centers and to the affected areas as quick as possible, and those who donated money are donating in millions and millions too. the one that left the biggest impression is undoubtedly dji, the drone company that's undoubtedly leading the industry bc not only most drones that are being used in this entire rescue mission is owned / manufactured by dji, cause technically as mentioned in my previous posts too, drones aren't exactly designed to carry humans due to the risk factors too, especially when you're at such a dangerous situation where it's still raining and the flood level is still increasing, but it's a desperate time so desperate measure, and the way people go by this rule is that they cover up the dji logo on their drones and continue to use these drones to bring victims out.
and since these drones are technically working overtime a lot, so dji has also officially announced that any drones that have taken part in this rescue mission can go for service checkups and parts replacement anytime at any outlet / branches nation wide as they will now be operating 24h every day, completely free of charge too
there's also people driving in from other regions, travelling 1500km and more than 12 hours just to prepare and cook hot food for people there, and this guy apparently cooked 6000+ bowls of noodles non-stop a single day since he arrived
it's so wild on chinese social media bc there was also a flood that hit another city recently and the zoo there was hit, so most of the animals went missing and dead like zebras, deers etc and they managed to find back one (1) deer and the remaining (about ten) were missing, so obviously the zoo owner was feeling down. and then in the comments section, there was a screenshot of another post with a picture basically showing the deers huddling together next to a random wall in the flood
once again if you don't already boycott western luxury brands for all of their problematic stuff and wildly expensive / unethical prices, what are you doing honestly because these brands also heavily participate in cultural appropriation. in case you haven't heard about LV suing a chinese tea brand 'molly tea' for trademark infringement over flower design patterns that have actually been in used in chinese culture and history for over centuries, most well known in tang dynasty artifacts, it is time for you to read up on it and boycott western luxury brands like -
LV (cultural appropriation),
DIOR (cultural appropriation and never once apologized or took down their products when called out - mamianqun),
Van Cleef & Arple's (cultural appropriation without giving credit - four leaf clover design from chinese culture over 2000 years)
Givenchy (cultural appropriation without giving credit - their iconic logo vs chinese culture's huixingwen / huixing pattern since 4000 years ago at least)
Gucci (cultural appropriation without giving credit - their iconic GG logo vs the same pattern that found on ancient china's warring states artifacts 400-200+ BC)
Celine (cultural appropriation without giving credit - celine's double c logo and
and so many more brands that i could not list right now like Goyard, Cartier, and non-western based brands too or entertainment media from other countries like especially those within the sinosphere where the cultural appropriation gets hard to determine
you might think that 'it can't be possible, chinese are just overreacting as usual' but if someone is pointing out things like this and being upset, and could bring up proofs, the least you could do is listen. here's a good place to start to know why chinese people are growing more uncomfortable with these brands taking inspiration (regardless of their lack of admission) bc after so long of being the receiving end of baseless accusations and fear-mongered against by sinophobic western propaganda, the case of lv suing against molly tea and winning the case is deeply upsetting.
ending this post for now before it gets too long and people get tired of reading, boycott luxury brands and support the original !!
I'm the one using the utilities at home anyway. Why would you pay? I'll be using them from now on too.
drones are being sent out to send food and emergency supplies, they're even used to carry people (which technically isn't the best practice but it's either that or risk drowning to death, so desperate time desperate measure esp since the rescue boats and whatnot would prioritise the injured or weaker ones first) apparently during the guangxi flood that happened recently due to the typhoon maysak?? apparently these drones are used to help farmers carry fruits and stocks and they could carry up to 300kg, so lifting an average healthy adult male isn't too difficult for these drones but damn, my mind is blown bc wdym you just experienced a terrible flash flood, prob got stranded for a long time and by the time the rescue team reached you, they sent you into the air while you could only see flood and rooftops beneath you 😭😭
heard a adp song for the first time randomly on the radio and man, icb this is what people were hyping over. y'all call that singing??

once again battling sinophobic claims and remarks from my manager cause he asked about pinduoduo, which is the original chinese version of temu that mainly targets chinese users. bc to him all pinduoduo does is cheat and scam and send the wrong products different from what you order. as if all other shopping sites don't do that. he would rather buy something manufactured in china through another seller / site like amazon or shopee despite knowing these sites mark up the prices and most definitely still get their products from china too. he basically said "yeah these sites make mistakes sometimes too but i don't trust chinese sites"
all to say that he has never even used a single chinese shopping site in his life.
and the only reason is bc he's sinophobic and racist lmao.
anyway he was basically yelling that i'm talking bullshit when i said pdd is legitimate lmao. and that he has to pull up western based news from 2023 that pinduoduo has security issues.
anyway at the end he seems pretty offended or speechless that the same things that he paid 600+ (which is prob 1000rmb) for over here is only less than 100 rmb on pinduoduo. and i consider that a win ✌🏻
as a chinese player who has more or less witnessed the entire drama ever since infold announced the addition of the sixth li, valko aka ao yin which started bc people were complaining about the slowness and incompetence of infold in things and how they sometimes don't respond clearly quick enough to user demands and requests and whatnot, which is understandable cause as consumer and player, we absolutely hv the right to complain.
but what i'm about to say next is prob something that non-chinese people shouldn't comment on bc this is not your history. so what escalated this entire thing of deleting / removing ao yin was that people found out about this serial number 0731 that was being used in one of the chapter lores. and if you don't already know what that stands for, it is likely a subtle reference to unit 731, or better known as one of the many worst crimes that imperial japanese army did when they invaded china and said unit did countless inhuman experiments on chinese people that they captured. you can read more on this (please read up on this), wikipedia is a good start.
while infold never officially stated that this part of their lore is referring to unit 731, it is clear enough bc that lore was telling stories about unethical medical experiments that ever group did on humans and whatnot, so naturally that could mean unit 731. many believe that this is infold's attempt to bring more light onto such tragedy especially to a global audience bc jp has never admited their atrocities nor apologized for it.
now you may ask, why didn't infold just make it clear officially? bc a lot of these historical things in china, especially ones that involve such a heavy topic and tragedy during the invasion of jp, have to go through tons of paperwork and approval process from the official departments aka the government, this is so that the history is treated right and with respect, as this is still a very painful tragedy that still hurts chinese people very bad. plus, infold is merely a gaming company, to admit right away that they're mocking jp with how they did with the lore would quite quickly turn into a whole another drama, since they do have jp server and jp players are around too.
and then jp server caught onto this too, bc they also started a petition to remove/rework this "0731 serial number" part of the lore, with the shameless excuse that unit 731 makes jp people awkward and uncomfortable bc they're being accused of something that never happened.
so what happens now is that these cn players who are fighting to get ao yin removed, suddenly caught onto this and the fact that infold never made it official that they were just trying to bring more awareness to the unit 731 tragedy, so they are now saying that infold is downplaying the entire tragedy by including it into the game.
they are even more offended now that infold decides to change the serial number, which they are saying that infold is catering to the jp server's shameless request, which was not the intention at all. and then at first infold changed it to "0611" which is another random set of number, but it was also the date of another battle that took place and lives were lost fighting against imperial jp army.
mind you, there were endless battles that took place during all the years of jp invasion onto the chinese land. lives were lost every day. infold hadn't meant to disrespect the heroes who fought and the victims that were sacrificed. so at the end infold removed the serial number altogether.
the problem now isn't that infold wasn't sensitive enough, the problem is that the girlies who started complaining were being absolutely ruthless in spreading misinformation and baseless rumors.
what started as calling out infold to do better and treat the five LIs better first before introducing a new one out of nowhere turned into calling infold (and the rest of us who still think infold's intention was good when they initially put the 0731 part) sinophobic and that we're siding with imperial jp.
granted not all cn server is like this, but they were the loudest and craziest. mind you, lads was one of the few games appointed and praised by official departments for cultural export of chinese culture constantly, there is zero reason for them to be on imperial jp's side (especially when majority of the profit made by infold from lads is still from cn server solely) or even jp server who was being shameless in their request to remove 0731 bc according to them "it never happened", and they are now exceptionally happy bc they think infold has finally admitted that unit 731 is baseless and something that chinese people conjured up to play victim.
so you see, even if the complaints made by the cn girlies were good at first, but this part of history is not treated right any longer? they were calling our own people sinophobic and insensitive, and calling other female players as misogynist and a lot of other misogynistic terms. and the only winner in this is imperial jp. so this is why i wanted to bring up how insane this entire thing is, both sides are wrong, and infold could honestly do so much better, but i do think they shouldn't be treated this way.
more EDIT below now that i'm awake enough
there's people saying that this entire shitshow was made worse than the several other dramas that happened these few years with lads and infold, bc we all know there barely is any competitors in the market for otome games, esp for 3d otome games so lads is always the one at the top ever since it came out
and this entire shitshow has been manipulated or influenced or made bigger by other competitors (bc the players that initially complaint, some of them turned out to be that they were never lads players). not to say everyone is like that or that some concerns raised in these complaints weren't valid, but that entire 0731 lore has been around since april, so why wait till now to spin the sinophobic and imperial japan stance against infold? people were initially trying to raise concerns about infold's treatment of their players like how they're slow or how they barely update the main storyline, and they should address those before adding a new LI. how has that taken a wrong turn so fast?
it's believed that some of these players who complained and their initial (mostly, depending on what exactly we are talking about) well-meaning complaints are being manipulated and pushed toward a direction that literally brings no benefit to anyone.
ao yin gets deleted, then what? this same thing has happened previously with the other otome game of infold, that is still ongoing now but that newly added LI atm were never seen in the actual main storyline anymore. he only ever appears in special events and merch.
a lot of people have been losing their trust in infold now, including normal players who never complained and were calling out the ones who complained with malicous rumors for their double standard. the ones who complained have already happily left the game, yet they still want the entire game server to be shut down.
how exactly does this benefit anyone?
it is so disappointing and upsetting to be on the non-chinese internet sometimes bc there recently was a 5.5 earthquake in sichuan and the comments were all saying "bc the 2008 earthquake did not take them all out" "tangshan earthquake needs to happen again" "god is punishing commies" and many more that i could not finish reading. it is an earthquake, a natural disaster that has nothing to do with governments?? plus the cn government is known for their quick actions every time natural disasters strike like flood, earthquake etc?? it's so upsetting to see that people downplaying a natural disaster where there are losses and casualties, just to be fucking racist and sinophobic. plus half of these comments are from chinese diaspora from overseas too

one thing i'm extremely proud of this year is that both love and deepspace and where winds meet are using the correct term when referring to 端午 / duanwu festival (or more commonly known as dragonboat festival) instead of always referring to it as dragonboat festival cause that leads to a lot of misunderstandings and other cultures trying to underplay the entire festival or stealing parts of it, but it's good that we're referring to it as duanwu !!! it is an unique festival that originated in china, and its correct name in chinese should be named all times !! that said, wish everyone who sees this a very good duanwu festival and have some zongzi while you're at it !!
