Idk whether this is just me but like do you guys have a certain word in a language that you just randomly repeat to yourself throughout the day for no reason? Like I’ll have a shower and I’ll just say to myself “kjærlighet”. I’ll have breakfast and as I’m eating I’ll say “kjærlighet”. Like? I don’t know why I do that?

안녕하세요! Can you please help me with something? It is said that 의 has three ways of pronunciation, 으+이 or 에 or 이 Do you have any idea if there are general rules to this?
Hello! That is a good question. I recalled reading a specific set of rules about this but wanted to verify the information, so I looked at a few online language forums. The results were varied, but here is the general consensus:
When 의 is the first syllable of a word, it should always be pronounced as [의]. For example, 의사 must always be pronounced as [의사].
When 의 is used as the possessive marker/possessive particle (which is added to the end of a noun), it can be pronounced as [에] (to make pronunciation easier) or as [의]. For example, 나의 could be pronounced as [나의] or [나에].
When 의 is not the first syllable of a word and is not being used to show possession, it can be pronounced as [이] to make pronunciation easier. For example, 여의도 can be pronounced as [여이도] or [여의도], and 거의 (meaning “almost”) can be pronounced as [거이] or [거의].
Posters in online forums who were Korean emphasized that although you can pronounce 의 as [에] or [이] in the above situations, it is technically incorrect to do so (although many Koreans do it anyway). Their main point seems to be that it’s okay to use these changes in pronunciation since it’s easier, but you should remember that the most correct way is [의], even if most people don’t always say it.

Word of the Day
편의점 - (n.) convenience store
I thought "bam" was night?
Yeah, 밤 (bam) = night. 야 (夜) is hanja (Chinese characters which are used in Korean) meaning night and is used in some Korean words as you can see. There are lots of cases where Korean uses both a native-Korean word and a word taken from Chinese (sino-Korean) so don’t be surprised to see different words for things for which there is only one word in English! i.e.해 = Sun (native-Korean) 태양 (太陽) = Sun (sino-Korean)날 = Day (native-Korean) 일 (日) = Day (sino-Korean)
