I saw a trashcan today that said ‘a habit is not a need.’ . Whoa. . What are the things in my life that I think I need, but are really just habits, things I’m used to, comfortable in. What’s the definition of a need? . Travel has taught me a lot about what I can do without, and what I 'need’ to feel like myself. Now that I’m a city boy again, those lessons get a little hazy. . Part of the problem seems to be that nobody these days is content to merely put their dent in the universe. No, they have to fucking own the universe. It’s not enough to be in the market, they have to dominate it. It’s not enough to serve customers, they have to capture them.
Most of you have probably already read this piece by Basecamp co-founder, David Heinemeier Hansson. I wanted to add it to the blog because it deserves re-reading every now and then. ;)
