Three Light Applications of Make-up Tutorial

Class Recap (March 31, 2014)

Today in class, March 31st, 2013, for Computers for Artist my professor went over several things. She started off by explaining to us when we should register for our fall classes. Also, she asked the class how we did on our freshmen portfolio review.

Next, she go into how we were supposed to print our tutorial book. Our tutorial book needs to be printed in the Adobe InDesign Application. We also need to make our tutorial diagram in Adobe Illustrator, which can be done in various different ways. The tutorial diagram could be a flow chart, schismatic, or illustrations. She asked us to make our tutorial in a way that would really explain to someone how to do what we are making our tutorial on. Ways to do that would be creating an illustration of whatever step you are trying to demonstrate to communicate with the person what you are trying to do. Another way would be to type out steps next to your illustration to make it even clearer. My professor explain to the class why she was having us make a diagram in illustrator even though we have already made a video tutorial, and a book tutorial. She wants us to become more familiar and skilled with using Illustrator. The best way for us to learn how to use it is for us to us it to work on some form of work or assignment. She also wanted us to know how to use the points, lines, and curves. It is a very hard application but she explained that with practice and time we would get better. Next she told us what we should have next in class which was a printed diagram that we previously discussed, a mock up, and our printed tutorial book. She explained that our mock up could be small, rough or anything. It is just used to show the layout of our tutorial book. There are many ways to make a book. You could print your book in saddle stitch format, accordion fold, and many other ways. She also explained what a reader spread and printer spread was. We are not too concerned about printer spread, just reader spread at the moment. In class she also explained that our images must be in CMYK color format. We have to make sure that our images are edited in Photoshop. We have to have a minimum of six images. Each Image must have a caption. My professor also went over how our blog posts should be and that we must check each of them for spell checking. We should use proper English and no slang. We much also must remember our color mode and resolution for print. There was also clarification about what my professor mean by print (hard copy). Everything for this class was mainly to prepare us for our final examination for this class, it was a long list of everything we must have in order. Each thing is very important and is needed for a good grade in this class.

Class Recap(March 26, 2014)

Today in class, March 26, 2014, we were covering more information on Adobe InDesign.

Before we got into what we will be learning for the day, my instructor gave us a sample sheet of what is to expected for our final examination.

The checklist includes:

Required External Hard Drive

Printed tutorial present with all components in a printed, bound booklet.

Photographic images (at least six color corrected and enhanced in Photoshop)

Another thing my professor touched on before getting into InDesign, was a few words of encouragement. She told us that we should always take as much as we can out of a lesson or assignment. It allows us to grow and get better as artist. When you are playing around with an application during class it does not really do much for you. But when you challenge yourself to creating an actual project or giving your all on an assignment, the information you learned really sticks with you. Because you are applying it in your work.

My instructor also gave us a little information on codex. She states, “Every book is a codex but not every codex is a book.”

We covered a good amount of information on InDesign such as:

To import an image, got to “file” and click the button “place. It opens up your documents and allows you to import an image from your libraries.

We learned the importance and how to set style sheets.

The space found between a text is called “leading”

We also went over stoke, color, and color swatches. These tools we use for InDesign are similar to the tools that we use in Illustrator. We also covered information on “text drop”, where you have a text surrounding an image. On InDesign, you are able to add a text to a line (a line or pattern made with the pen tool). When adding a text to a line, the line will either disappear and the only thing left is the text in the same direct the line was going. Or the line can remain visible with the text still present. I enjoyed everything we learned on InDesign in class. It was very informative and I hope to get better with using this application in the near future.

Tutorial Direction

Subtle Look - The subtle look is an everyday make up look for someone on the go.

Step one: To start off with this six step look, first wash your face with a facial cleanser followed by a shimmer facial moisturizer for an added glow.

Step two: Take an eye lash curler and carefully curl the upper lashes and the lower lashes.

Step three: With any form of eyeliner (liquid eyeliner has a cleaner and more defined look) brush a thin line of eyeliner on the upper eyelid.

Step four: Take a nice lengthening mascara and brush over the lashes and under for the best results for lengthening.

Step five: Take a volume adding mascara and apple over the first coat of mascara for a volume-added lash look.

Step six: Apple any lipstick that flatters your look of the day for a complete look.

Moderate Look – The moderate look is for a lunch date with the girls or a day shopping at the mall.

Step one: Wash/cleanse your face with a facial cleanser followed by a shimmer facial moisturizer.

Step two: Take an eyelash curler and carefully curl the upper lashes and the lower lashes.

Step three: Apple any eyeliner of your choice (liquid eyeliner works the best for a cleaner and more defined look) and wing the end of your eyeliner at the end of the eyelid.

Step four: Take a nice lengthening mascara and brush over and under the lashes for the best results for lengthening. Take a volume adding mascara and apply over the first coat of mascara for a volume-added lash look.

Step five: Apply a thin amount of blush to the upper cheek bone for a natural lifting appearance.

Step six: Apply any lipstick that flatters your skin color to complete the look.

Semi-Full Makeup – This look is great for a special occasion, date, or a night out on the town.

Step one: Wash/cleanse your face with a facial cleanser followed by a shimmer facial moisturizer. After moisturizing, apply your shade of BB Cream to any dark circle to lighten your face for a younger, fresher look.

Step two: Take any eyelash curler and carefully curl the upper lashes and the lower lashes.

Step three: Apply any eyeliner of your choice (liquid eyeliner works the best for a cleaner and more defined look) and wing the end of your eyeliner at the end of the eyelid.

Step four: Take a nice lengthening mascara and brush over and under the lashes for the best results for lengthening. Take a volume-adding mascara and apply over the first coat of mascara for a volume-added lash look.

Class Recap

Today in Computer for Artist class of March 12, 2014, I learned more important things about Adobe Illustrator. The following things I learned and reviewed were the menu windows such as file, edit, window, and path. I also learned and reviewed the following tools: Type tool, line segment tool, black arrow, white arrow, magic wand, lasso tool, pen tool, and the convert arrow anchor.

In class, my professor was talking about the grading that will done for the class. She was explaining that we need to keep up with our blog posts, and our final project which is the tutorial video. Also our printed tutorial book which is at least six pictures along with six steps on how to go about doing the tutorial.

The main assignments that counted for a large sum of our grades includes the following:

Charrette Ideation: We were to create three 18x24 sketches of our ideas for the Charrette being held in the department.

Midterm Test: A test going over everything that we covered in class for the first half of the semester.

Final Charrette Submission: The final composition of your finished piece for the charrette for the department.

Blog Posts: All of the blog assignments that have been given on the class worksheet. Currently we are up to 19 posts. Our professor will be checking them towards the end of the term. She will be checking the quality and quantity of the blog posts.

External Hard drive: She will be checking whether we have them or not.

Online Tutorial: A print out of images from our tutorial showing all steps (at least six) that we use to complete the tutorial.

Attendance: Our performance on showing up to class on time.

The application that was covered in class today was Adobe Illustrator. My professor reviewed the content we covered last class. The things we covered were the drop down menus like file or edit.

A tool she showed us today was the clipping mask. This is where you take an object and put it over an object that you want it to fit into.

For example if you have a background and an object you want as a foreground. You can take that foreground object and place it over the background object and erase the areas you don’t want to be in the background.

Another thing my professor showed me in class was how to create an outline for a type. This can be used well for typography art, word art or logos. You do not want to hand over a file that has type in it because someone could change it. How you create an outline for whatever type you are doing you go to create outlines (shift+ctrl+O). Next the object is no longer letters, they are now shapes. I enjoyed learning how to create type outlines.

Adobe Illustrator is a very amazing and creative tool. I look forward to learning more throughout my CPU for Artist class.

Class Recap

Today in class for Computers for Artist, I learned about the drop down menus for Adobe Illustrator. The menus used for Illustrator are very similar to the menus used for Photoshop. There is a lot of common likeness to the Adobe program. The only differences you may see are applications purchased by Adobe like Dreamweaver and Primere for example.

Throughout the class we went over several drop down menus used in Adobe Illustrator

File deals with the file itself. For example if you would like to save the file or save as (save under a different file name), print, email, export or close the file, you can do all of that located in the file drop down menu.

Edit deals with the many things you can do to the file you are working on.

The Tools panel contains tools for creating and editing images, artwork, page elements, and so on. Related tools are grouped. In addition to the tools on the Tools panel, which are used for creating and editing objects, you will also find color controls, a menu or icons for choosing a drawing mode, and a menu for choosing a screen mode. If the panel is hidden, choose Window > Tools to display it. To convert the panel layout from single column to double column or vice versa, either click the double arrowhead at the top or double-click the top bar.

The Control panel displays options for the currently selected tool. In Illustrator, the Control panel displays options for the currently selected object. (In Adobe Photoshop this is known as the Options bar. In Adobe Flash®, Adobe Dreamweaver, and Adobe Fireworks this is known as the Property Inspector and includes properties of the currently selected element.)

The Document window displays the file you’re working on. Document windows can be tabbed and, in certain cases, grouped and docked.

The Application frame groups all the workspace elements in a single, integrated window that lets you treat the application as a single unit. When you move or resize the Application frame or any of its elements, all the elements within it respond to each other so none overlap. Panels don’t disappear when you switch applications or when you accidentally click out of the application.

Aside from the menus we learned how to make different paths from objects or shapes.

In class our professor taught us to not leave a line in a file because it can change. The stroke could be a different stroke size, or the line could change without the point size changing. Also someone could change the lines if they wanted to or by accident.

She also taught us that we can create a line the got to path > outline, and it will outline the line creating a narrow rectangle. If you were to have a curved line it would follow the shape given.

If you take a dotted line and go to path > outline stroke, it will select them and give you a series of dots/different shapes that are grouped.

Final Tutorial Idea

In one of my blog entries I gave three ideas for a tutorial I was going to do as my final project in my "CPU for Artist" class.

The three ideas I have for the tutorial final project is a “How to Dress (For Younger Women)” tutorial, to help young women understand what is appropriate and how to dress for their body types. There is a “How to Annoy Your Boyfriend” tutorial, for girlfriends who are very excitable and a handful for their boyfriends. And lastly, a “How to Wear Make-Up” tutorial, for those who like to wear makeup but apply too much. I chose these three topics because personal beauty and my boyfriend are a major part of my life today.

I am excited to make any one of those tutorials because I think it will be a fun experience and can help young woman with daily issues in their lives.

Out of the three ideas I came up with, I am going to do the make-up tutorial. I chose this one because I love make-up and how it enhances ladies natural beauty. Girls’ now-a-days cake on too much make-up for everyday use. I can see wearing dramatic make-up for a photo shoot, wedding or any special occasion but every day is too much. Also all of the make-up on your skin all the time is not good for you. I want to show girls that there is a way you can wear make-up without wearing too much and also looking good. I am going to choose cosmetics that are good for your skin like Arbonne, Bare Minerals and MaryKay. There are also a few other products that are good for you. Once I do that, I will give a tutorial for 3 simple yet feature-flattering looks. I will have the looks in order by level of make-up that is being applied. So there will be a subtle look, a moderate look and a semi-full make-up look. For the subtle look, it is going to be very simple I will apply a thin line of eyeliner onto the upper eyelid. Next I will apply two coats of mascara to finish off the look for a more defined eye. And for the cherry on top of this simple look I will apply any lipstick of my choice to make the rest of my face pop.

For the moderate make-up look I will apply a sleek strip of eyeliner with a wing on the end. For an elegant and defined look, I will then apply two coats of mascara. i will apply a very peachy blush to my cheeks to give me a fresh spring look. And to finish it off I will apply any lipstick of my choice. Now, for the last make-up look, I will apply an even amount of BB cream under my eye (where dark circles might be). By doing that it makes me look brighter, clear and polished. After doing so, I will apply an elegant strip of eyeliner with a winged end. After that, I will apply two coats of mascara. Next I will apply a peachy blush followed by the lipstick of my choice.

"Who Are You"

In one of my previous blog entries I discussed my three ideas I had for the Charrette going on in the art department at my school.

The sketches that I displayed in my first blog post were the first sketches of my ideas. In this entry, I have refined my ideas and have completed my final composition of my ideas.

I will give you a description of each of my charrette ideas and how I have refined them.

For idea 3, "Who Are You?"

The second thumbnail is a simple yet deep idea to me. I drew four different silhouettes of female faces, and in front of the faces is a text that read, “Who Are You?” The image is implying that at VSU, I have been finding out who I am. Also, that college is there you find yourself and who you want to be in the world.

I really liked sketching this idea out. To me it was very simple but had a large meaning behind it. The meaning behind this is my favorite out of all three ideas. I do believe that college is where you find out your true identity. Who you are and what you are going to do with your life. When I was sketching and brainstorming for this piece something in me wanted to make the faces I drew look different. So I chose to give the girls hair very vibrant and different colors. By doing that, I wanted to imply that while we are out finding who we are, we should dare to be different. That was something my father always told me. Also in the sketch I did not give the faces eyes because while we are going through this journey of finding ourselves, we can not yet see the finished outcome of ourselves. I thought that I might change the fact that they did not have eyes but I did not. I liked the idea and concept of it all.

Another thing I changed was the medium. I was originally going to do the finished sketch in marker but I wanted to change it up. During this semester I have been branching out and trying different mediums more. So I thought that I would give water color a try. It was really fun and cool to try. I would definitely want to try this medium again. Using the water color really did the piece justice. The way it made the hair flow so beautifully was my favorite thing. I did two layers of water color for the faces. For the text, "Who are you?", I used India Ink because I know it would show up very well above the water color.

I hope when people see this piece they think..."Who am I?" and "What can I change in myself to be a better...ME?".

"Thoughts of Growth"

For Idea 2 "Thoughts of Growth"

The sketch was of my growth in healthy choices. This was something I already had knowledge of I just did not have the resources or options to live the healthy lifestyle I wanted. Now that I have a gym available to me on campus I can workout whenever I want. Also, the cafe has a lot if healthy choices I can choose from,

The last thing I drew in the thought bubbles were friends. In the past couple of months I have been learning more and more who to call my friend and who to not call my friend.

This piece took the longest out of all three of my charrette ideas. I put a lot of time and effort into this piece. It honestly made me frustrated at times, but one way or another I got it done. I changed a few things that I thought needed to be like instead of having four areas of growth, I only used three. I wanted to use the most important things that changed me personally as a student. I chose to show my growth in the arts, my growth in my studies and my growth in making good friends I chose to not include my growth in healthy habits because it did not seem essential to my growth as a student.

Another thing I changed with this piece is the way the thought bubbles would be positioned. Instead of having it as three separate cloud bubbles I just sketched out a single large cloud with three large opening s where I will draw the areas that I have shown growth in. Once I drew it out I liked how it looked. It was a lot better than my first idea. After I drew the cloud into my piece I noticed it looked a little dark and gloomy, so I drew an opening in the cloud for a ray of sunlight. Once I drew in the sun-ray. It brightened the entire piece and gave a sense of hope. By that I mean that in the clouds where I have my three points of growth, that ray of sunlight represents my future. And my future is BRIGHT!

"College Mind"

I will give you a description of each of my charrette ideas and how I have refined them.

For idea 1, “College Mind”

The thumbnail I drew was a back shot of my head being divided up into my life at VSU. I came up with this because my mind is where I grow the most, so why not add the growth that has taken place within my mind, I show the areas where my priorities have changed, and what areas I put most of my time and energy into.

I absolutely love the refined, final composition of my first idea. It is a lot of more crisp, clean and organized. A lot of what I changed was the line definition and the font of the words listed in the boxes in my head. I came up with the idea of adding different fonts into my charrette piece shortly after my first sketch. The first sketch was nice and the beginning of a great piece. It was just missing interesting and more creative aspects to it. So I looked on the web for some diverse hand-drawn fonts. I eventually cam across two website <WEBSITE 1> and <WEBSITE 2>. The fonts i found on these two websites were creative, fun and not too difficult to draw. It took me little over an hour to complete all of the designing of the words in my final composition. I actually had a lot of fun creating this piece. It is a fun, simple and creative piece to me.

Other than the font, I want to point out the composition of the head. I looked up a back-shot of a head on Google. I found a very simple silhouette that I molded into my own. I have short hair so I left a clean-cut hair style on my image. I did not pay much attention to the eyes and I did not draw a mouth or any other details to face because my focus was on the mind. I did that because that is where all forms of change begin, in the mind. “You change your thoughts, you change your destiny.” -<AUTHOR OF QUOTE>. That quote helped me create this piece because it is so true and I believe so strongly in it. I would like to one day paint a larger scale of this drawing as a memory of how I grew in college.

Class Recap

During class of February 17th, 2014, my professor was speaking on housekeeping for the class. By that I mean we need to know and prepare for.

The first thing she mentions is the freshman portfolio review. The freshman portfolio review will be on Friday, February 28th. The portfolio we should be preparing needs to have at least twenty pieces of artwork in it. My teacher suggests that we put our best work in our portfolio for review. The freshman portfolio review happens to be a very big deal. With your portfolio you must submit an application for concentration for the art department of VSU. You will either get approved or declined. If you are declined then you will have to leave the art department.

The next thing my professor talked about was the sophomore portfolio review, which is on Friday, March 14th. This review is different than the freshman review. It must be presented in person. My professor stressed in class how your art work should be mounted and neat. Another thing she mentioned is to practice presenting your work in front of friends, professors, or your roommate. It is good to get practice before and important presentation.

Next, she explains to us the junior portfolio review, which is Friday, March 21st. This review is also presented in person. She mentions to make sure that we are dressed up for all presentations. My professor also talks about how we should go over how we are going to explain and talk about our work. She also tells us that we should be prepared to answer many different questions about our work since we are being critiqued by faculty in the department. And again, she stressed to make sure that your artwork is mounted and neat for presentation.

The last thing she talks about concerning the portfolio review is the senior review. The seniors happen to have a different way of doing the review that she never gave any info on nor a date.

She then begins to mention to us fall registration for classes. The dates to register are March 10th through April 4th. We are to meet with our assigned advisers in the department to register for classes. If you do not have an assigned adviser we have to speak to the director of the department to register.

The next thing my professor mentions is the student juried show. She explains that we will have a juror from outside of the school to review our artwork and they pick certain pieces to be in the show. She explains that this is a very big opportunity. It will look good on a resume, there will be prizes and your artwork will be displayed in a show. The deadline to submit work for the show is February 28th. The show will be from March 10th through April 11th. The person who is selected in the show will also be mentioned during honors week at the university.

Later into the class we began to talk about different types of software like Adobe and Photoshop. She also explains to us the difference between Vector and Rastor. For example Vector is used in Adobe Illustrator. It is a program basically made up of points and lines. This type of use is good for type and logo work. Rastor, on the other hand, is used in Photoshop. It is a program made up of pixels (PPL,DPL). The number of pixels you have per inch determines the quality. The more information you have the higher the quality.

And the last thing she touched on were color modes. She gave us lists of them. List as follows:

Solutions For Charrette

For the Art Department at my University, Virginia State, we participate in a Charrette every semester. A Charrette is like an art how that various Art Departments from different colleges participate in, and whoever has the best artwork in the show wins a prize. The theme of the Charrette changes every semester. This semester, the theme is “Personal Growth at VSU”.

The three solutions I have for my charrette project are listed below in the following images.

The first sketch is of Virginia Hall, which is displayed in the front of the campus on a large hill. In the background I will draw four thought bubbles that shows four areas i have shown growth in while attending Virginia State University are healthy habit development, are progress, study habits and friendships. I chose these four because these are the areas I have shown significant growth in since I have been attending Virginia State University. I chose these foreground of the sketch to be the front of Virginia Hall to represent VSU. Then I came up with the thought bubbles coming out of Virginia Hall to represent the things that I have growth out of attending this school so far.

The second sketches are of four female faces. In front of the four faces reads a text saying "Who are you?". I chose this idea (my favorite so far) because college is really where you find yourself as a person and adults. You can make it a positive and productive experience with a prosperous outcome or the complete opposite. You can experience all that college has and remain the same wasting your time and money. It is all up to you on what you let it mold you into. I chose the female faces because I am a girl so I thought I would relate more to it by doing so.

The last sketch is a silhouette of the back of my head. In the back of my head it is being separated into different regions. These regions represent what I think or where most of my time goes to and how my priorities have been attending Virginia State University. Some of the things I have placed in the regions are the building where I spend most of my time, my major and some of the things I like to do on the side non-school related.

I chose to create my sketch like this to symbolize how going to college has changed what is important to me and my priorities. I chose to put it on the back of my head because it has plenty of room for me to be able to draw it the I planned. Also to symbolize those things that I have my focus on are embedded in my mind. I think this is a cool and creative way to show my growth at Virginia State University.

The theme for this charrette really gets you thinking on how you have changed since leaving for college. In my case, how one has progressed and has began the start of their career. I am excited to see my fellow peers ideas on the charrette topic for this semester.

Charrette Ideas

When my teacher told the class the theme for the Charrette in class, I immediately began thinking. I thought of sketches in my mind, I also browsed Tumblr and the web for ideas to get my thoughts flowing. These are the thumbnails I came up with in class.

The first thumbnail i of the front of my University.In the background of the school are thought bubbles. Inside of the thought bubbles are areas that I have grown or have shown growth. The following things i have inside of the thought bubbles art related work, me doing homework, me eating healthy, and me making good friends.I thought about what really impacted me while I have been here at Virginia State University.

In art, I have grown so much. In the past semester, and this semester, more so in knowledge than anything else. I say that because I have skill in the arts.I just never applied it as much as I am now. I have grown in knowledge of the arts because of the great knowledge the my professors have sharing with me during my class periods.

I have grown from study habits through trial and error unfortunately. What tends to happen is I will get overwhelmed in homework, and I will bot be able to incorporate studying into the process due to lack of time. So through that trial and error, I learned to add studying into my everyday routine by managing my time better. When I go to the cafe I will pull out my notes and review while eating, or I will post notes all around my room for me to review. Also, I will create reminders on my phone to give me a recurring reminder everyday to study.

My Class Processes

The processes that I go through to complete my homework for my Computers for Artist class is quite difficult. What I do is begin to understand what the assignment is about when it is presented to us in class. Once I understand it, I will start working on it as soon as I get back to my room after class.

In my Computer for Artist class my professor has the class post all of our homework onto a blog. The blog can be created on any blogging website in the design of our choice. All we have to include is an “About Me” page. We can add anything else as long as it has to do with the class. I chose to make my on Tumblr since I have plenty of experience with making blogs on that website. It did not take me long to create my blog since Tumblr has a lot of simple templates to choose from to get you started. Most people just open their computer up and begin typing their assignment with whatever comes to mind. Instead, I like to write everything out on paper to get all of my ideas together. I will usually use three to four sheets of paper when writing everything. Doing that will usually get me up to at seven hundred word count. I noticed after my fifth blog entry if I use over two sheets of paper full of writing it will be at the required word count for the assignment. A lot of my class mates ask me how I am able to provide information on the chosen topic for homework and get up to a five-hundred word count (The word count requirements is a 500 word minimum and 1000 word maximum). My advice to them was 1.) Go into detail about everything, 2.) Do not leave any information out, and 3.) Give multiple views on the topic if necessary. I believe out professor gives is such a high word on a short topic so that we can exercise our thinking skills. Getting back on topic… Once I have written my post out completely I will type it up on the computer. After I type up my blog post on Microsoft Word, I will save it on file to my computer so that I can have an extra copy of the post. My professor like to stress backing up our work into multiple places. Of course, after I have typed and saved my assignment I will post it onto my class blog. Sometimes I will add images if I think it will aid my post in any way or make it look more interesting.

What I usually do while I am in class is listen to my professor give lectures on computer knowledge, brain storming ideas and so on. I will also takes note on whatever she has written on the board or any important notes she has written. If I have enough time I will begin to start any homework we have just to try to get ahead to lower my work load for the week.

To me, this class is only as difficult as you make it. As long as you follow directions, do your homework correctly, and do it on time this class should be a breeze.

Inspiring Tutorials

Right now, I am watching my favorite beauty guru’s video tutorials on YouTube. Her name is Lindy Tsang-Ng, otherwise known as Bubz of Bubzbeauty. She makes so many video blogs/tutorials that are great for the girls and women of this generation.

The first tutorial I watched was titled “4 Easy & Cute Hairstyles”. I always get excited whenever she has new hair tutorials…well I used to. I chopped all of my hair off and sadly her tutorials are for long haired people *sad face. I thought I would still watch it. I wondered if the styles would be “easy and cute” like she said they would be. Just about all of her tutorials are, so I was not questioning her judgment that much. What I liked about the video was that she provided great step-by-step directions to creating the four styles. They were also indeed cute and easy. Which is needed for women today because of how busy we are and how little time we have. So a tutorial that provides an easy hair style we can put together will be helpful for any woman on the go. Another thing I liked about this tutorial was the mini humor. Like all of Lindsey’s videos, there is always something happening unintentionally but pretty funny. I guess she was talking to her dog in one tutorial but all you could see is her talking. It looked like she was talking to herself but in her tutorial she explains she was arguing with her dog. I thought it was funny and cute like all of her other videos.

The next tutorial I watched was titled “Beach Makeup”. This is a tutorial about how to wear makeup for the beach or pool. What I like about this tutorial is that I’m learning something new. I’ve always wondered how to successfully wear makeup to an even at the beach or pool without it running all over my face. I also like the fun vibe about the tutorial. It gets you excited for the summer because you have a new look to try the next time you have a beach outing. The music in the background is also fun and girly. The music she has in her tutorials are always girly and cute.

The last tutorial/video blog I watched was titled “Small Boob?” I kind of wondered what the video would be about. I thought it would either be on how to make your boobs look bigger or how to live with small boobs. After watching the tutorial/video blog, I thought about what I liked about it.

The one thing that I liked & I always like in all of her videos is her personality and vibe. She has a very humble and beautiful personality which makes you want to watch her videos. She is very inviting. The second thing I liked about this video was how un-staged it was. She lets all her videos have a natural flow to it. Any mistakes that are made in the videos are what makes them so genuine. Also, she is known worldwide through her video blogs/tutorials and thought her beauty project but she still records her own videos. Rather than getting a video recorded or professional she does it herself or has family and friends help, I love that. I like how her husband or dog will interrupt her in the middle of a video, but she will not edit it. It seems like she likes to incorporate her at home life in with her videos. The last thing I like about the video was the topic. She did begin her video about how she has small boobs and how she struggled with her self-esteem growing up because of that. Then she begins to transition into how women should being comfortable in their own skin. She also touched on how the media and the world are so superficial, which is why girls think they are not good enough. At the end of the video she encouraged her viewer by telling them that they are all beautiful the way God made them. I went into this video trying to complete a homework assignment and left with a better sense of self-worth.

I could watch Lindsey’s blogs and tutorials all day long because of how fun they are and how nicely they are put together.

Tutorial Ideas

The three ideas I have for the tutorial final project is a “How To Dress (For Younger Women)” tutorial, a “How To Annoy Your Boyfriend” tutorial and a “How To Wear Make-Up” tutorial.. I chose these three topics because personal beauty and my boyfriend are a major part of my life today.

I will begin talking about the first tutorial, “How To Dress (For Younger Women)”.

Who will my tutorial help?

I believe my tutorial will help up and coming women learn ow to cress and carry themselves better. Since you attract what you display yourself as, why not dress appropriately, professional and cute to attract a better crowd. It will also help women to learn how to dress by their body types. Something that looks good on one persons body type may not look as good on a different body type, vise versa. I have noticed how some of the young women on my campus dress. Either it is inappropriate, unprofessional or they dress well. The reasons that women dress how they do is because of the lack of care, money or knowledge on how to dress better. That is where I come in. My tutorial will inform women on how to dress effectively with what they have. I will also include tips on how to shop smart.

What does this tutorial offer?

This tutorial offers information for women who do not know how to dress. Also it will inform them on how to shop smart. There will be no reason why young women should not carry themselves better in the way they dress and display themselves unless they just do not care for the topic.

Why am I a good fit for this subject?

I am a good fit for this topic because I like to uphold myself to a proper self-image. Since my senior year of high school, I changed how I looked completely for personal reason. When I did so my self-esteem rose. I was more confident and people looked at me more professionally. I went from not knowing how to dress to being an exceptional fashionista.

What is my expertise in this subject?

I look at myself as a professional dresser because of my experience. I have modeled throughout y life which gives me a sense and knowledge of what looks good. I was employed at the very preppy Hollister and Co, which gives me even more knowledge on the latest fashions season by season. I am also an experienced shopper. I know to find the current styles for cheap and what stores to search in for the best deals.

The second tutorial idea I have is a “How To Annoy Your Boyfriend” tutorial. This tutorial is intended to be humorous for those in a relationship.

Who will this video help?

I believe this video will help couples and the boyfriend understand why their girlfriend does the annoying thing that they do. Also, I think it will aid girlfriends on the proper way to annoy or bother their boyfriend. So you don not go overboard.

Why am I a good fit for this subject? I am a good fit because I am a girlfriend. I have an amazing boyfriend who is my life partner. We have a healthy relationship which puts me in a good position to give relationship advice. I have also been known to council couples with small problems they may have.

What is my expertise in this subject?

I have been best-friends with my boyfriend for three years. I began dating him in the second year and on New Years we made it official. I have learned so much about how to maintain a healthy relationship over the years. I have also learned when I have been wrong in a situation and how to improve myself to better the relationship. This video will be a fun twist on couple counseling and will help many young adults on understanding their partner.

The last idea I have for a tutorial is a “How To Wear Make-up” tutorial. I notice in women that they either wear no make-up (which is perfectly fine, I prefer it) or they wear entirely too much and look like a ghost or clown. Make-up is not needed because we were all born beautiful, but it is very resourceful when you want to enhance your natural beauty.

Who will this tutorial help?

This tutorial will help women understand how to evenly apply make-up. Also, to know how to compliment their features and make it look natural at the same time. A lot of the girls attending my college would greatly benefit from watching this tutorial.

What can you offer through this video?

Through this tutorial I will offer a make-up guide for those who do not know how to apply, for those who apply too much and for those who want to enhance their natural beauty. I will also give women a chance to raise their self-esteem and help them realize how beautiful they really are.

Why are you a good fit for this subject?

I am a good fit for this subject because I have come a long way when it comes to make-up. I started wearing make-up in my late fifteenth year. I did not know what looked good so I experimented. I found out over the years what looked good and what looked bad. When I first started wearing make-up I just used colorful palettes. When I was seventeen I started using natural colors because I learned that they looked a lot better and complemented my skin color.

What is your expertise?

I have plenty of experience with make-up. I have participated in make-up parties and have taken a class on how to wear make-up when attending a summer modeling school. I also take the time to watch make-up tutorials online to get new ideas. I have been wearing make-up since I was fifteen, so that is four years worth of make-up skills.

I am excited to make any one of those tutorials because I think it will be a fun experience and can help young woman with daily issues in their lives.
