My new book, The Jealous Brother (https://amzn.to/3fZa2N0) is now available for pre-order (out Sept 10th):
Since birth, Kay has been certain of his destiny as a knight, and the role that his foundling foster brother Arthur will play in it. But, as the truth of Arthur’s parentage is revealed, Kay faces a new destiny in Camelot. As the battles are fought, and the fate of Britain hangs in the balance, Kay will learn that the ghosts of the past are rarely laid to rest, even for royalty.
Can all my wonderful fans and Arthurian peeps please reblog?
Mordred has broken the Round Table, and King Arthur's knights are scattered.
Why Mordred always gotta be breaking sh*t?
As a historical figure, there have been hundreds of different iterations of King Arthur & his adventures. Here are some best & worst movies

Great video (if a little repetitive) on what castles actually looked like inside. Many people don’t realise that castles, even for kings, weren’t really that different from large houses today, and that the distinction between classes was much smaller, nowhere near the difference between rich and poor today.
In my books, Camelot is so large because it was actually a Celtic hillfort that the Romans built on and then the various extravagant residents like Uther added to. By the time Camelot is in its heyday under Arthur, it’s grown to enclose the small houses outside to form a bustling town, with the bulk of the action we see taking place inside the keep.
Guinevere (and Sir Kay, and Elaine when acting in their stead) spend a lot of time moving people about depending on rank and privilege. Not everybody is deserving of chambers, and some people would even have to share a bed with someone they don’t know.
It wouldn’t have been uncommon for families resident in a castle they didn’t own to be separated by age and gender and only see each other at dinner.
Elaine’s castle Caer Mor is much more realistic. It has only a main hall, an all purpose antechamber (which Elaine attempts to convert into a solar on multiple occasions - I imagine Nentres telling her no because they can’t afford to lose the space) the kings chamber, a few bedrooms given to Nentres’ highest ranking men, and the kitchen, though most of the basic cooking is done on the fire pit in the hall. The servants slept in the kitchen and the fighting men slept in the hall, which Elaine observes on her first night. Everybody else lived in the outbuildings within the palisade, or else on the nearby steadings and travelled to the court to fulfill their function - the first commuters.
Caer Lot, the home of Morgause is also very realistic in size and rooms but with the little added extravagances of Lot’s whims, such as a tiled room for bathing.

Kit Harington is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Black Knight, who will make his debut in next year's The Eternals.
Kit Harrington to play the Black Knight, an Arthurian-descended hero in Marvel’s The Eternals.
In the land where wizards and magic swords meet 21st-century ringing tills and Cornish freedom fighters, a new bridge has furiously divided opinion.
Totally imagining here that Gavanndra Hodge is cosplaying as Elaine.
Elaine of Garlot before you make me clarify which one, I know there’s twenty bajillion of them.
Hannah Baker from 13 Reasons Why will star in a new Netflix show called Cursed. It’s an Arthurian retelling set from the point of view of Nimueh.Â
Excited and dreading it at the same time!
Didn’t realise this but it’s actually based on a illustrated book. Don’t know whether to read beforehand or not.

Lady Pendragon is one of Top Cow Productions' most memorable '90s heroes, combining Arthurian lore with a story that stretches across the ages.
Need to read this!
It's not every day you get to recreate the journey of a legendary king, but visitors to Tintagel Castle will now be able to do exactly that.
Beautiful bridge completed!

Elizabeth Hurley will be bringing some dark magic to Marvel’s Runaways on Hulu in the Season 3 role of Morgan Le Fey, a sorceress with considerable history and even greater power. The Royals …
YASS QUEEN!
Might start actually watching Runaways now.
However, still prefer the DC incarnation of Morgan.
