 It’s not working!  She knows him too well and knows exactly how to pull him right back in.  The walls he had constructed come tumbling down at the mere thought of her.  It’s not fair…This is his time to leave and yet he can’t do it…He can’t leave her!  ‘ Wake…up.     Wake up.    You…You say that to me like I know what waking up is…’  Countless nights spent withering away in his own sorrow.   The only real sleep he has known has been when laying next to her, but he had to convince himself those days were lies…They never existed and never could!   His insides want to scream how sorry he is, how much of a fool he’s being and how he just wishes the torment could stop. But that would mean admitting he was wrong once again.  To void this encounter would be to void his entire existence once more.   ‘ Tell me…    Who am I to you?    Who…was I?’ He just wants to hear it one last time.  Maybe it’ll change his mind…  Maybe it’ll be the final push he needs.  ‘ T-tell me why I can’t let go of you.    Tell me why you seemingly meant so much to me,    and tell me why...why you scare me so much?’

                          she’s on her knees now; hands placed flat against the ground as if she’d been DEFEATED before the real battle had begun. she listens to his voice closely, doing her best to memorize it in case she were to wake up alone in her bed -- he never having existed in the first place; perhaps akeno’s worst fear at this point. not once had she felt like this toward someone else, her friends something completely different. 

❛ you know what that feels like... i’ve seen your sleeping face---- listened to your heart as you slept... ❜ his arms wrapped around her as if he were trying to protect her still; regardless of how deep of a sleep he was in. when he was with her, he could relax to the point where all the pain was forgotten & he was FINALLY at peace. sleep finally taking over him, giving him the rest ghost deserved. if he left, would he still sleep ?

eyes peek through her crimson bangs, trying her best to memorize the details of his face; how he stands -- his clothes, how his hands felt in hers not too long ago. 

❛ ‘who are you’...? ❜ akeno paused, letting go a shaky breath before sucking in another. ❛ you’re EVERYTHING to me... you still are now, if you want to be... even if you vanish, you’ll still be everything to me--- since i met you, that’s perhaps all there’s ever been. ❜ akeno could only pray she gave the right answer, screaming from her heart as it beat harshly in her chest. nausea slowly building on her as she stood up with shaky knees.

⎣☎︎⎤- shitshitshitshiiiiii-itcantbehelped! The low rooftops of the buildings in this section of the city made searching the alleyways for delinquency while remaining unseen a breeze. The catch was getting down in time for class - there weren’t usually ladders. Kanon’d grabbed the vertical pipe to slide down without thinking or looking below, and - of course - someone had been down there. She tried to jump away from them, but they were moving, and she felt two bumps. One from her knee connecting with their head, and a second and much stronger one when a hard midair surface - their quirk? - pushed her off to the side and onto the ground.

⎣☎︎⎤- “…That’d be me…” She raised her hand from her position on the ground, pushing herself to her feet with the other. She could either stay and apologize and be late for class, or she could run off to school and abandon the innocent victim of her poor judgement. It didn’t take a second to decide which one was the greater justice. “If there’s anything I can do to make it up to you-!”

                       she’d been unsure as to where the other had come from in the first place; although now HARDLY seemed like the time to ask. remembering shortly after the pain had settled, class was to start in five minutes. still seven away from her class & ten just for sitting here gawking at her new found lump; which had started to shape nicely on the back of her head. 

❛ n-no, no, it’s fine--- j-just be sure to look where you’re going !! or at least shout a warning... ❜ rubbing at the spot, slowly she looked upward from where the other had fallen from -- it seemed everyone she met fell from the skies like rain. although, not one cloud in the sky could be seen.  ❛ just be careful next time, okay ?? -- oh, my quirk didn’t hurt you did it? ❜

 She’s making this so hard for the both of them…Hadn’t she made up her mind when she told him off before? Stop being so confusing…  ‘ No you don’t. ‘   Resorting to childish lines and denial was about all he had left in him. She didn’t actually want to be with him, she just thought she did. She’d realize in due time that he was nothing more than the fiend he said he was. Numbing himself came easier than expected, though there was a time limit as all things had. Regret would begin to settle in if he stuck around for too long. In fact it was already seeping through the cracks in those newly formed walls.      ‘ I–’   A hand would begin to reach back for her, only to fizzle out of existence and reappear back at his side as if it had never even moved in the first place. Self control was never his strong suit…  ‘ Are you saying you’re afraid of a ghost? ‘  He reply came softly and eerily. A tone never once used by him before. Soft words were used for more close moments between the two, but now…Now they felt like frozen daggers inching their way into your spine. Every movement she made was met with a subtle one of his own, keeping their distance and equal amount of steps apart.  ‘ We all both know ghosts don’t actually exist.’

                        ❛ you say ghosts don’t actually exist because YOU’RE SCARED TO LIVE !! ❜ like she wielded a blade of her own, she’d been ready to strike. cutting though the words he’d bested back at her. she wanted to fight, to protect what they had -- go back to the way things were. wasn’t that all she was good for ??

❛ how many times have i pressed my ear to your chest & heard a heart that beats so loud it would keep me awake no matter how FAR apart we were ?! how many nights have i stayed awake wondering who that heart belonged to before i found out it was for me ?! ❜ she can’t stop it now, her voice rising as tears now prick at her eyes; nails digging into her palms as she makes fists of them. ❛ who would be afraid of you...?? the dummy who came flying out of the sky one day--- who knew how that would all turn out --- & here we are... ❜

blinking a couple of times, tears finally leave akeno’s eyes--- pulling from her lashes as she slowly falls to her knees; hands now reaching to cover her face. she wants to reach out to him, to hold him, to tell him how much he means to her --- but she finds this FUTILE. simply because he’s now turned himself away, covered his ears & refused to listen. 

‘ i’ve already lost him ‘, she thinks.
