When is it time to bail? (Until December, of course)
I came into The Force Awakens in an almost perfectly unspoiled state, and it was wonderful. Since I’ve immersed myself so deeply in fandom in the months afterwards, there’s a lot I already know (or have guessed) about The Last Jedi. The new Entertainment Weekly coverage of TLJ feels revealing enough that I’m wondering if the moment has arrived to bail out of the Star Wars fandom until the film is released in December.
How are others handling this? Is it possible to participate in fandom without spoiling big chunks of the story?
If I disappear, it’s not because I don’t care; it’s because I’m so excited about the next chapter, I don’t want it ruined before I get to experience it in the theater.
It was the same for me when TFA came out, and I’m also starting to think about whether I should carry on sticking around as Dec 15th gets nearer, or whether i should ‘go into purdah’ (I was actually surprised that EW gave so much away, tbh).
…I am also slightly considering this. Because I’m on mobile, tags are meaningless.
ive definitely been considering dipping out for the time being until TLJ comes out, i went into TFA completely blind and i think that worked very much to my advantage as a movie-goer and now i kinda feel like I’m setting myself up for disappointment if I’m keeping up with everything as i do now lol
