“Did you honestly just speak those words… in that order?” Kili’s cheeks reddened with blush. “You can’t say you weren’t expecting me to laugh.”

‘’Hey do not judge me for not being able to articulate a sentence properly.’’ Tauriel smiled and turned away to hide it. ‘’I just got distracted and words did not seem the most important things for a moment.’’  This was not the first time this had happened, but sometimes when she was around him, she just could not find the right order for the words to place in. She did not know why it happened nor how it did, but it happened. They had just met, but they seemed to go along pretty well. It was when Tauriel went on an exploration in the woods, across their borders.   It had started to darken and Tauriel had a feeling that she should be heading back right now, but she did not.

“And what, pray tell, was it that distracted you, dear lady?” Kili’s smile spread clearly across his cheeks and illuminated his winking eyes with a brazen disregard for rules of public etiquette. “Perhaps all this dwarfish charm you’ve heard all about is going to your head.” 

Kili’s blushing cheeks betrayed the excitement he felt at this encounter with a not-unattractive elf maiden from across the borders. She’d taken quite the risk being on these lands in the first place, but he hoped that risk had paid off. Perhaps she’d return. 

He greatly hoped she’d return. 

In fact, he hoped she stayed.
