It's very funny that the straw that broke the camel's back for the shill media is, apparently, Supergirl. It's not even that terrible. Definitely better than The Marvels and The Acolyte and a bunch of other utter dogshit they all salivated over for ideological reasons. Maybe it's because Supergirl doesn't actually have any discernable message unless you're really looking for one? Or maybe it's because it doesn't have a female director they feel the need to prop up? Whatever it is, it's hilarious to see the shills having almost the exact same opinions as the reviewers and culture commentators they constantly complain about with this one.
For anyone who hasn't seen it yet (which, based on the box office, is most of you) and is wondering how it is (which, based on how many people are talking about it, is not many of you) it's a very solid 4/10. The very last 5 minutes of the movie are decent, but the journey to get there is a slog. No thought was put into this movie. It's like they just kept chopping up whatever the original script was and adding more scenes with Lobo and Superman after every failed test screening, then eventually just threw up their hands and released it. It has no interesting ideas or visuals, the plot might actually be the most contrived I've ever seen in a superhero movie
Pointless little girl: Help me fight the bad guy.
Bad guy: Haha, I, the bad guy, have poisoned your dog instead of killing him like I do with literally every other person who attacks me in this movie, he will die in three days!
Supergirl: Oh no, my dog! Well, the plot says I can't move him to a yellow sun that would heal him instantly, so I guess I'll kill the bad guy. But don't you kill him, little girl. Revenge is bad.
Pointless little girl: But I want to kill him!
Supergirl: *eats alien shit* (yes, literally)
Bad Guy: I'm kidnapping women to impregnate them, because the woman who wrote this watched too much Handmaiden's Tale.
Supergirl: Give me that very conspicuous necklace, the one you've only been wearing since we wanted the audience to notice it, that has the cure for my dog in it!
Pointless little girl: I want to kill the bad guy because he killed my family.
Supergirl: Oh no, I didn't get the necklace in the second act. Who could have guessed?
Pointless little girl: Don't worry. I'll kill him!
Supergirl: No. Revenge is bad.
Bad guy: Oh shit, I almost died. I guess I'll go to that planet with the hidden green sun and wait for Supergirl to show up.
Supergirl: *goes to the planet with the hidden green sun* Oh no! Green sun kills me! How very inconvienient.
Pointless little girl: Luckily I'm here to save you! Good thing you took a ship here instead of flying so I could stow away. How very convienient.
Supergirl: Ugh. Death and stuff. Ow.
Pointless little girl: Oh no, the bad guys are convieniently right where I went to go get water! I've been kidnapped.
Supergirl: Oh, good, the green sun set and the yellow sun came back up. I'm strong again. Glad that little girl brought my Supergirl uniform I haven't worn once along for some reason or we wouldn't have any cool shots of me wearing it for the trailer.
Pointless little girl: I overpowered a guard that outweighs me by 200 pounds and escaped. Oh no! I'm about to be killed!
Supergirl: Good thing I'm here to save my dog. I mean you.
Supergirl: Take that bad guy! You are defeated!
Pointless little girl: Now I can kill him and take my revenge!
Supergirl: No. Don't. Revenge is bad.
Pointless little girl: Okay. You're right. I won't take revenge.
Supergirl: Great. Now go over there for a few minutes.
Bad guy: So...I'm not going to be killed?
Supergirl: *kills the bad guy to get revenge for her dog*
Supergirl: Hey, little girl, we've bonded I guess and now I'm going to take you on my ship to party across the galaxy.
Pointless little girl: Yay! I can't wait to get in a space van with an alcoholic adult I just met without telling any of my remaining family where I'm going. Will we be back before supper?
Pointless little girl: Yay!
Supergirl: Okay, I'm back on Earth now and I'm ready to stop being a little bitch I guess.
Superman: That's great! I was the best part of this movie even though I was only in 5 minutes of it.
Supergirl: My dog's eating your apartment.
But it's not terrible. It's not "funny bad" or "so bad it's good". It's definitely not great. It's just kind of...there. A mishmash of ideas and tropes and first draft dialogue and a plot that only exists to get the characters from point A to point B. There have been much worse movies this year. But this is the one the shill media is allowed to hate.
