A self indulgent aesthetic for a humanstuck Gamzee.

One of the most important things about the finale of season 7 is that Aaravos forgets about family. Despite spending thousands of years fighting against the Cosmic Order for Leola he doesn't recognize the very relationships that would undo him.
The only people he doesn't anticipate at the final battle are, in order of least to most anticipated,
1. Sir Sparklepuff
2. Runaan
3. Zym
He isn't surprised by Ezran bringing Zym. He, however, doesn't realize Thunder's unfinished business is his son, despite him demonstrating to Terry that it's the easiest way to tether someone to the In-Between. Thus, he doesn't expect for Thunder to break free and fight him.
It's unclear if he knows that Runaan is Rayla's dad or just her troop leader so to speak, but he likely thought either way that Runaan would go home to his husband. When Runaan steps out dramatically with his bow trained on Callum, Aaravos actually hesitates because he knows Runaan IS a killer and would follow through when Rayla can't.
Lastly, his LITERAL son, his own creation, shows up and surprises him because he didn't believe Sir Sparklepuff had a soul. Aaravos gave him one purpose: lead Viren and Claudia to his prison, aka him. It shouldn't be surprising that he is still seeking out his "dad" because he died before he met Aaravos. Yet, it's the final nail in his coffin because he forgets about family. For all he playacts with Viren about "our son", he never believed Sir Sparklepuff had a real consciousness.
In fact, Sir Sparklepuff's appearance most likely caused Aaravos to lose focus for just long enough that he lost control of Thunder. It's the last in the rule of threes, being closest to Aaravos personally. Sir Sparklepuff literally lands on Aaravos' nose to show him what he's been missing this entire time.
Aaravos' true undoing is exactly how Terry describes in season 6: what was originally a story of love has become a story of revenge. His original motivation, the love between father and child, has become so twisted that he no longer recognizes it.
Harrow: wow, I've spent so many years being a bird, surely this is the most radical change in my life - why is half my family married to elves
JUST PLEDGED $1000 TO THE KICKSTARTER ON THE SIDE OF THE STACHE!
Moonshadow illusionists over 100 don't do anything cool anymore all they know is get divorced, look like ur estranged mom, have pet phoenix, eat grub chip and tell half-truths
As much as people meme about Callum trying to impress Runaan, I don't really think that's going to be the case. It's funny to imagine Callum in a "meet the parents for dinner" scenario, and even though I think he'd definitely have that awkward "so, your daughter and I are kind of, a thing?" conversation he wouldn't allow Runaan to walk all over him. If Runaan tried to set some sort of bar he has to clear to be "good enough" for Rayla Callum wouldn't accept that. In arc 2 Rayllum and Clauderry have been contrasted; Terry clearly seeks Viren's approval and does his best not to rock the boat by not challenging Claudia on most things. Rayla and Callum aren't even "together" until late s6 even though they still love each other bc they have a lot of stuff to work through before they're ready to be on a relationship again. And especially by the end of s6, Callum knows that Rayla is his guiding light and his deepest truth. He's not going to care about living up to Runaan's standards because his and Rayla's relationship is already secured. Callum would of course appreciate having a good relationship with Rayla's parents, but he's not going to feel like he needs to earn Runaan's approval.
Shout-out to whoever is in the TDP writer's room who loves lightning powers because between the s5 Zubeia library scene and Zym's teleportation this is the coolest show in the whole world! I hope all the season 4 haters are seething and malding because I was so right to stick it out this show rules! ⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡
