I keep seeing this meme going around.  I’m sure you’ve seen it, too.  For example:

This is just further justifying creepy male behavior, right?  Am I wrong?  I’ve seen a whole bunch of them over the past week, and I generally only follow very liberal, feminist leaning blogs, and yet, here are jokes where the only thing that has agency is the man, and the two women he’s with are turned into objects, robbed of their humanity, and silenced, it’s gross.  Not only are the women seen as purely pleasure/sexual objects for the… I don’t know, protagonist seems like the wrong word, but…  They are also pitted against one another, as rivals for the all important central idea’s attention/affection.  I can’t help but be disgusted by it.  Can we stop?

i watched camp camp when it first came out and the season 1 finale was literally just a shit ton of racist anti-native jokes. anyway, roosterteeth is an online production company who make shit like RWBY, Red vs Blue, Achievement Hunter, Funhaus, Off-Topic Podcast, etc. Aside from other minor things, I can tell you this as an ex-fan of RT/current fan of Achievement Hunter: Burnie Burns, one of the founders of RT, literally said the n word hard er on the RT podcast once and the entire company has been known to be incredibly antiblack, racist in general,incredibly transmisogynistic, and just all around awful people. just from a moral standpoint, the wife of the late monty oum (creator of RWBY), was completely kicked out of Roosterteeth and cut off from any production knowledge about RWBY after the passing of her husband because she didn’t “technically work for them”. RWBY has since taken a noticeable nose dive because they no longer have the information only Sheena Oum knows lmfao. On top of this, RWBY has been known to steal from other content creators who make things for MMD (you’ll notice almost immediately that the characters in RWBY look like they popped right out of a miku miku dance video).

More notable moments of awful: 

Geoff and Gavin of Achievement Hunter came out about a “game” they play called connect the hots where on their drive home would follow hot women in their car until they saw a hotter women and followed HER. Geoff then issued a non apology. 

Ray Narvaez Jr. worked for them for YEARS and was infamous for racist, transmisogynistic, and overall awful awful jokes. He said the T slur multiple times and when people asked for an apology if mostly ended up being like “Eh people will forget about it. Who cares.” He also boosted a really shitty anti sjw blog because why not on his twitter. 

Just a lot of racist/transphobic/homophobic jokes. 

The time during a live stream they played CAH and a card had the f slur so they pointedly said the f slur MULTIPLE times during a stream. 

The time Geoff and Gavin on another live stream made an entire joke about rape and were moved to tears over how funny they found it. 

The time they had an entire 15 minute episode of their most popular series Red Vs Blue that was nothing but a trigger joke. 

Also side note, the main writers behind RVB, RWBY, AND Camp Camp? The same two guys. 

Honestly the monty situation is even worse than that lets on. It wasn’t just his wife who lost her position (Her being blacklisted was literally months after his passing btw; she had to move out of state) but basically his entire creative circle lost their jobs. The only people who knew what Monty wanted with the series were cut out of the project after his sudden death. The two people in charge of it now have abandoned any of monty’s plans to have wlw on the cast, (They’re not comfortable writing gay characters or some shit) and have shifted focus to a male character voiced by one of them. The sole male in a cast of almost all women lmao. 

They’re garbage. 

Tldr: It was a “video game company” started by like 4 guys in the early 2000s that is now a huge company that still holds onto early 2000s internet humor.
