Let's Help Hurricane Sandy Victims!!!
Howdy!
I was recently touched by a fan who hand made a blanket for me! What an amazing gift! Needless to say I was really moved by the gesture and it got me thinking...
I would love to show the same courtesy to the victims of Hurricane Sandy. So many people are still without power and/or a home and they need our help! When I wrap up in the blanket I was given, I am warmed by its fibers and the heart of the sweet person who made it. It truly gives me hope while pursuing my dreams out on the road!
I want to share the same feelings of warmth, comfort and hope with those who have lost so much as a result of Hurricane Sandy. I know it's not much but I hope to start the healing process for our fellow Americans. Hopefully, some of my fellow artists will join me and donate to the cause as well! I believe we can make a real difference in the wake of one of the worst storms in recent memory.
So what am I asking of you?!
On behalf of the Dunn Good Foundation, I want to donate at least 100 hand made blankets for the families victimized by the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. The deadline for blankets is Wednesday December 19th. That gives us a little over 2 weeks to make AT LEAST 100 blankets. I myself will make as many as humanly possible (and I've already started!!) The blankets will be donated to Occupy Sandy, a New Jersey based relief organization.
The blankets that I have chosen to donate for this project are called Tie Blankets. They are very simple to make and do NOT require a sewing machine! Here's a quick how to video I found on youtube:
HOW TO VIDEO
If you do not have time or are unable to make a blanket but would like to help, you can click HERE to make a donation through Paypal. I've made a few blankets already and the materials cost around $20.00 per blanket. If you are gracious enough to contribute, I'll make sure your donation is put toward the rehabilitation of our storm stricken neighbors through the warm gesture of giving! How fitting seeing as Thanksgiving is right around the corner!
All finished blankets can be sent to the following address to be received on or before December 19, 2012:
Attn: Kimberly Dunn
C/O Alpha Facilities Solutions
11503 NW Military HWY, Suite 300,
San Antonio, TX 78231
Thanks for taking the time to read all this, I hope you'll consider helping out!Ā
Warmest regards,
Kimberly

KD Road Blog!!
Howdy Y'all! Itās been so busy in my camp that Iāve been neglecting my news page! I promise to do better!! Today is August 8, 2012. Itās Wednesday! āŗ Iām sitting in my living room while Johnny Cooper & his drummer JCIV take naps before their show at the Rattle Inn in Downtown ATX. Tonight heās asked me to sing āMovinā Onā with him. I LOVE singing with Johnny and I always end up learning something new about myself. Canāt wait to hit the stage! This past weekend my band and I played in Ben Wheeler and Graford Texas. Ben Wheeler has got to be one of my favorite places to play and visit!! The venues are great, the food is spectacular, and the community gives the warmest of welcomes to visitors and musicians. I think itās safe to say that given the chance, Iād move to Olā BW and build me a house. ;) It was Friday night that we strolled into town to play an acoustic set at the Forge Bistro (which, by the way, has AMAZING bacon and blue cheese chips!!). Scott, my guitar player, and I played a two and a half hour set for a very captive and responsive audience! The crowd was extremely sweet and very attentive. Itās always nice to play a really intimate show where eye contact and crowd interaction are readily available. I guess that could be a good or bad thingā¦.depending on how Iām singing ;). Ā Saturday night I was with my band in Graford TX! I had never been up to Possom Kingdom Lake before but I had a blast. The folks at the RockināS Bar pleasantly surprised me, everyone seemed to love the set. I had great crowd participation with some cover songs that I do and some great feedback from my new single āCommon as the Rainā...currently spinning on Texas radio and available for request (hint hint!!) ;) Over all it was a really successful weekend. Thanks for stopping by, I promise to keep yāall updated more from here on out!! I better get going, I need to get ready for the show tonight with Johnny!! Over and Out! KD
