âŚË⥠ICONIC ANIME LOVE CONFESSIONS â [5/10] âĄË⌠Ⳡsakura kinomoto & syaoran li đ¸Cardcaptor Sakura (1999-2000)đ¸
Catch You, Catch Me
At 16, and with more magic than she or her family know how to handle, Sakura is sent abroad to study magic, or at least get it under control. Only to come home to discover the true beginning of her magical journey in her father's basement.
An aged-up, and very Syaoran/Sakura canon-rewrite.
Fandom: Cardcaptor SakuraÂ
Genre: Fluff/Romance/Canon-Rewrite
Word Count: Multichapter, should end around chapter 24.
Rating: PG

Comments: This is my current self-indulgent SyaoSaku project. I felt conflicted making a most about it here, as self-promotion gives me the heebie-jeebies, but the world need more of these two falling in love with each other. âĄ
It's already May 1st in Japan, and finally the day is here: it's time to wish happy 30th anniversary to our beloved Cardcaptor Sakura!!! đĽšđĽšđĽš
30 years later, Sakura continues to charm people with her sweetness, courage and empathy, and the story still captures people's hearts for the message of hope and acceptance, which was further explored in its most recent arc and direct sequel, Clear Card Arc.

Comments: Reposting a fic I had posted on ff.net back in 2013. I gave it an edit and uploaded it to AO3. I also gave the paired fanart, above, a partial redraw and full recolor.
Prince Sakura and her Sleeping Beauty. â¤ď¸
I saw this trend on Twitter and I inmediately thought of these two!
[6]
So when a few pages ago Sakura was saying she had âJUST one dreamâ that wasnât the same as the journey theyâd gone on in their previous life, that was technically a lie.Â
If we turn it sideways and think hard enough maybe she first meant that [In the category of dreams that were visions of the life they had already lived] there was [just one] [of those specific category of dreams] [that actually hadnât happened to them yet].Â
And now this new dream is actually in an entirely separate [category of dream] that she wasnât talking about before at all. And they both know enough about her dreams at this point that she doesnât has to specify it to Syaoran. Sadly, we the readers are not Syaoran (I think), so it makes less sense to us as we read it.
I THINK?
Either way CARDCAPTOR SAKURA TIME
Iâm not sure why she corrects herself from saying that She met Cardcaptor Sakura into WE met Cardcaptor Sakura, but she sure does say that.
What does that mean.
IâŚÂ
I actually am not sure I understood anything that happened in the second half of this chapter.
Wait wait wait let me try that again.Â
So. We are ignoring the fact that we know that Sakura and Syaoran are the ones that go in the Jam Jar, perhaps, and this is the origin of how that ended up happening?
Sakura and Syaoran are worried about the vision of the âSakuraâ and âSyaoranâ (Meaning Lava Lamp and Not!Sakura) who get separated forever.
They know even if it was them it wouldnât change the future, because they are the same people in essence.
But Sakura then remembers meeting Cardcaptor Sakura in a dream who told them that it didnât matter how their existence began and that they should just believe it will all work out.Â
AND SO... maybe they were inspired by this and realised, hey, yes, actually, she's right! We CAN go in the Jam Jar of eternal suffering in their place and change the future after all! Except the chapter ends before that revelation happens.
I think thatâs my current interpretation.
Uh, mass confusion aside, I suppose the other big lore drop was Sakuraâs Dream of The Jam Jar That Hasn't Happened Yet (Even Though We've Already Seen It), what it implies (it's the one thing they haven't lived through yet), and how itâs the key event that will help them break the time loop.Â
Which is good to know!
And also Cardcaptor Sakura was there.
So, I can at least clear up one small part of this, probably.
The part where Sakura Li is talking about meeting CCS!Sakura can also be translated as:
"I had... one more dream."
"It was me from another world. No, us [from another world.]"
Japanese is notoriously vague, and both translations are correct, but I think what Sakura Li is saying here that yes she only technically met a Sakura from another world. But because they are all Sakura and Syaoran, CCS!Syaoran's existence is a given. Where one exists, so does the other, sort of thing.
"I'll definitely tell you next time..." ----------- "I can finally say it...I love you."
I hear that Xiao is put in front of someoneâs name to make it a nickname in Chinese. Does it make sense for his teacher to write his full name out like that when heâs introducing him?
Everyone always acts like it is a part of his name in this series. Can xiao actually be part of someoneâs name or is it actually like a cute prefix or something and the Japanese authors of the series didnât know?
Many reblogs and no answers. Help! 8 of us need answers now!
My understanding is that yes âXiaoâ can be part of a full name or used as part of nickname.
Iâve heard from Chinese speakers that single syllable first names âfeel wrongâ so theyâll often add another syllable to the name (a lot of the time itâs xiao or even their surname) as a nickname.
CLAMP did (probably) make a mistake with Syaoranâs name in that since heâs from Hong Kong and would therefore (more likely) speak Cantonese. âĺ°çźâ would be âsĂu lòhngâ rather than âxiÇo lĂĄngâ. Granted there could be plot reasons his name is the Mandarin pronunciation, but CLAMP gave us very little on Syaoranâs family so weâre left to wonder.
Thank you. Thatâs very helpful. I heard from some other ppl on tumblr say that his name would probably be sĂu lòhng. I also hear that his name is based off of one of Bruce Leeâs nicknames which was ćĺ°éž which I see different spellings of too.
Iâve never seen an explicit reason for that pronunciation in the plot so Iâm trying to make some kind of headcanon to make it make sense.
I would rename my blog to fit but Iâd lose the pun on Lalaâs name lol.
My headcanon is that Yelanâs family is from a Mandarin speaking sect of the Li Clan (since her name and the sisters are all Mandarin as well) which is just an opportunity for drama with the Li Clan. Mostly just for fun.
The largely unexplored âmagical communityâ of CCS really catches my interest.

Syaosaku will always be my roman empire
I love them so much,,, I could cry,,,
Syaoran starts being jealous of seeing Sakura with Eriol, and he decides to stay a little longer because of Sakura.
Syaoran is cute in this scene.
Fun fact. What Tomoyo actually says here in the original Japanese is closer to:
âToday Li-kun found something new to worry about.â
Which is a much more Tomoyo-like thing for her to say. Itâs subtle, but on point. Sheâs not wrong so Syaoran canât deny it and itâs not an obvious enough word choice to pique Sakuraâs interest, but Tomoyo still gets to tease Syaoran.
Like, Syaoran (naive tsun that he is) doesnât even realize he likes Sakura yet, Tomoyo knows this, why would she throw around the word âjealousâ?
Also, Kodansha translators, why change this? There was no reason to. Your readers arenât five, we all know Syaoran is jealous. Well, except for Sakura and Syaoran, but thatâs sort of the point.
Syaoran has no poker face and we love him for it.
Card captor sakura art I did for a secret santa on discord!!! I was given the chance to draw one of my favourite pairings of all time and I ran with it.
