The Reason Why

After reading for several hours, she put down the book to rest her eyes as it started to sting a bit already. She closed her eyes for a minute. Suddenly, she heard a voice outside her room. 

“Hey, can I borrow a book? I want to read again,” her favorite person said. Confused, but she complied. Scanning her book shelf, she found her favorite book. She gives it to her favorite person in the world.

“I’m just asking this because it is surprising. When did you start to take interest in reading?” 

“Baby, I don’t read the book. Are you not wondering why I finish it quickly?” 

‘Right. I didn’t notice because I got lost and immersed while reading,’ she thought. 

“So why?”

“I read  your annotations. They’re fun, exciting, and amusing. I also want to know your thoughts while reading. I also want to experience what it is like to be lost from the world and enter a new magical world. In this way, I can also enter your alternate universe.”

The First Try

“She got it right for the first try guessing my favorite color”

It is a sunny day and the air blows coolly as they sit on the bench facing the fish pond. They quietly hold each other’s hand but the silence doesn't bother them as it gives a comforting feeling between them.

She suddenly broke the silence and faced him to ask a question. “We’ve been together for two months but I’ve realized that I don't know what your favorite color is.” He just nodded as realization also dawned to him. Before he could open his mouth to speak, she interjected right away.

“So let me guess. It will be more fun if you won’t tell me about it, right?” she smiled excitedly like a kid who is about to eat her favorite ice cream. He just let out a smile and listened to her intently.

She paused to think for five minutes. While she was thinking, he was observing how her brows creased from her forehead, pouted her mouth - she does this when she is in a deep thought, and her eyes moving sideways from left to right. He finds it very adorable so much he can feel his heart beating so fast like it’s gonna explode any moment from now.

“Okay! Here I go. It’s yellow, right?” she yelled and smiled while her eyes were blinking like a curious little kid.

To be honest, he didn’t have a favorite color. Maybe black because he always wears black shirts but he doesn’t have any. But for some reason, he just agreed to her when he saw her face like that. It made his heart warm and haven’t seen yellow the same as before. ‘Well, she got it on her first try,’ he thought.

“Yes,” he replied happily and patted her head and kissed it after. Satisfied with his answer, she pulled him for a hug and rested her head on his shoulder. The silence enveloped around them again but there was a smile on their faces as they watched the ducks swimming around the pond.

Title: I leave my heart on the sea

Under the beautiful sunny hot day,

I can clearly hear the crashing waves of the sea

Which took me back to the memories that I pray to disappear,

And ease my breaking heart.

I walk and walk and walk along the shore,

To clear my mind and soul,

But both of them are travelling with the waves and,

It took me to the thought that I've tried so hard to conceal.

If I leave my heart on the sea,

Will the sun still shine brightly at me?

If I leave my heart on the sea,

Maybe I can dance gracefully like the trees.

Title: Somewhere

This flowers that are planted in the park,

I guess you've already sighted them.

The path that I'm taking now while riding in my bike,

Maybe you've walked on it already.

On this cafe near on my workplace,

I think you've already bought latte here.

And here in my usual spot that I'm sitting right now

Did you already saw me here before?

We never know but I believe

That somewhere at a random day, time, and place,

We've already met,

But we didn't just notice it.

For now I will just look up in the sky,

Staring at the guiding star,

Wishing that someday and somewhere in this world,

This star will guide and lead us to meet.

Title: Occupy

It is a cold wind that passes through the night.

I'm holding a blank piece of white paper and pen,

Spacing and zoning out.

Don't know what to write,

Because you occupy my mind right now.

I'm walking through the fields while embracing the sunlight.

I listen to the music the you played yesterday..

It makes butterfly to my stomach,

And flutters my heart that's pounding for you.

You wanna know why?

Because you occupy my mind right now.

I'm learning numbers and chemicals right now,

Please get out of my mind just for a second.

I can't seem to concentrate,

Because you occupy my mind right now.

You spared me a glance in a split second,

That causes me to be glued in the ground.

Like a lifeless statue,

And leave me in awe.

How is it possible that I lay down for years,

Not moving a muscle,

Staring at an infinite universe,

But you all I think about.

This is my mind..

But seems that you are the owner of this.

Because you're residing already here,

Day and night.

I know why,

Because I love you,

Even though you don't love me.

Title: Can We Just

Can we just enjoy each other's company?

Talk casually while having a cup of coffee,

And praise the lovely weather,

Until the rays of the sun pass through the window.

Can we just stare at each other’s eyes?

Because I want to see myself reflecting to your eyes.

I want to see your cute face.

Also can you smile? But not too much…

I might melt you know.

Can we just appreciate our song playing in this café?

Do you still remember the day I sang this to you?

I hope you don't forget,

Even though sometimes it annoys you when I hummed it randomly.

Can we just go back to where we used to be?

Because even if you're only in front of me,

I feel that you're miles away from me.
