Neighbor

I was on my way home and passed by my new neighbor, who I’ve noticed has a dog. It was late, and tonight the dog was posted up outside their front door. I stop, and the dog and I make eye contact. I sense something so I go to the gate of my neighbor’s home where I can see her clearly. I kneel down and she almost instantly rushes toward the gate. At first I am startled, but quickly realize that she is coming towards me with excitement, not anger. I pet her and she seems so loving and gentle. She calmly trusts me and I embrace her - she slowly melts into my petting hands and I can tell she is happy. It was such a sweet moment before coming home, I hope I see her again soon.

I remember the first touch was electric. We sparked and it started a flame and we were engulfed. We had been waiting all night and finally were swallowed whole, every part. It felt like fire and falling and drowning all at the same time. We met our match... I remember you said it was chemistry.

They bring out the menace in you, a sick twisted spine. They take away from your whole and hide their claws behind their back. They get high, get by, and check in from afar; it’s in their blood. They leave every one and only fest with their selves. Aren’t you glad to not be a part of it? Can’t you see the webs they made, now shimmering in light? The careful objects in their tiny, small home; no family, no friends, no neighbors, no one? Can’t you see it all, the emptiness? Now don’t you remember who you are?
