❝ i wish i could protect you from everything. ❞
diggadiggory:
you can break my soul, take my life away, beat me, hurt me, kill me. but for the love of god don’t touch him.
This is about you. This is about what you didn’t do.
malbrockway:
“I know,” Malcolm replies, bereft of any semblance of modesty where his culinary skill is concerned. “If ya’ wanna’ enjoy it in a better atmosphere than this steamin’ Hellscape you oughtta’ come have dinner at Three Peaches Bistro sometime.”
"good that you know.” jae pointed at him and he leaned back. “that would be good actually, i might do that before i go to korea.” he hummed. he needed a night out and he’d enjoy going and getting food if he was honest.
minho had his reading glasses on and had the files in his lap. his lawyer had given him all the documents he needed and would be meeting him in korea. he needed to go through everything so that soyeon couldn’t pull a fast one on him. he was feeling stressed out as he read through the copies of texts she’d provided. the man had taken a few anxiety meds before getting on the plane but they weren’t helping. he reached and took sunny’s hand, squeezing it softly before looking at her. he noticed jae looking at him. “can i have a whiskey? its a long flight.”, he said with a sigh. he hated having to ask for permission, he wasn’t a child. minho looked over at the seats in the middle which were noah and minnie’s seats, except minnie was sleeping in noah’s lap as noah was deeply invested in a movie playing on the tv on the back of the seat in front of him.
jae began scrolling through his own phone and he wet his lips glancing over at minho as he spoke about having a glass of whiskey because it was a long flight and he sighed. “no you don’t need to drink, minho, i know it’s a long flight but it won’t do you any favours.” he wasn’t trying to be an asshole to his friend, he just knew that one drink turned into another and how easy it was and minho knew it too. jae pursed his lips and he sat a little back in the seat. sunny’s fingers curled around minho’s as he squeezed her hand and her fingers brushed over his knuckles. she didn’t bother coming in between this dispute because despite her being in a relationship with minho, it was dispute between him and his friend and she hoped changing the subject would work. “i’m so excited to be going back to korea.” she breathed, squeezing minho’s hand with a bright smile on her face and jae smiled at her.

Mal has to hand it to the fellow; he takes his food seriously and if nothing else that’s something the chef can respect. “Alright, fair enough,” he concedes, “Well for starters, ya’ might try thank you. My restaurant’s caterin’ this clusterfuck.”
jae looked over at him as he took another drink and he looked around raising an eyebrow. "well i have to hand it to you, the food is pretty fucking good." he was honest about it, he hadn't tasted food this good in a while. even his own food was beginning to suck.
roxxies:
The masks were definitely not her favorite part of the event, nor the dress code, but she could deal with it until it was over. After all, she was here to do her job and nothing more. Having a little fun was just a bonus. “Ya don’t think I have a shrill voice? I think it’s at least loud enough to make my presence known like the queen I am,” she teased in her thick New York-British accent, “Oh, I know I look amazin’, sweetheart, don’t even start- I look like a real princess. I think I’d look pretty in just about anythin’. You definitely do look young, by the way, maybe you should dress up like that more often. It makes ya look dignified.” Sipping her drink now that she had settled at the table, she surveyed the people around again. She was being extra attentive; this event was busy and it would be busy enough that people could slip right by if she wasn’t paying close enough attention. Looking back to him when he mentioned he had dropped his friend’s girlfriend off, she raised her brows over her mask and smiled, nudging him with her elbow. “Wow… What a gentleman, as always. Ya tellin’ me there’s not one girl here whose got her eye on ya? They’re missin’ out if not. I’m here with my girlfriend.” It occurred to her she had mentioned having a male date when they had first met, but it had been a few weeks now and hopefully that was enough time to not make that seem suspicious. She didn’t want to hide the fact she was dating someone. “Not much fun? Well, we’re gonna have to change that, maybe ya should hit the dance floor with me.”
jae wet his lips and he leaned back against the bar, drink in hand and he looked over at roxi as she spoke and he offered a smile. “no i don’t think you have a shrill voice. it’s different than most around here.” he let out a chuckle at her words and nodded his head. “well it’s good you know you look good.” he looked down at himself. “maybe i will, i usually do look like a scruff, huh?” he laughed again unable to help himself. jae looked around and he shook his head speaking of woman he shrugged. “not to my knowledge, .” he breathed, he didn’t think there was anyway he hadn’t been paying attention. wetting his lips he took a drink and he nodded. “girlfriend, right. where is she?” he asked, wondering why she was standing with him and not with her girlfriend. though he was sure she’d said male date last time in the bar, he decided not to mention it. he finished off his drink and he looked down at her. “you want to go out to the dance floor with an old man?” he asked letting out a laugh.
the plane journey was long but he knew they’d get there eventually. jae’s nerves were getting the better of him, he hadn’t been in korea in ten years and going back was nerve wracking. he looked out the window briefly before back towards his son and his two friends, sunny looked as excited, she hadn’t stopped smiling since she’d gotten on the plane, it made him smile. at least someone was excited, he glanced at noah just a brief glance to see if he was okay, he knew he still needed to talk to him about what he’d seen in the store on their day out with minnie, but he wouldn’t do in front of minho or sunny. he found the silence a bit awkward but apart from that he knew there wasn’t really much to say, he knew at some point the stress would be a bit much for them, minho especially.

You finally seem human. You’ve been acting far too noble until now.

“my mother looks at me & sees my father’s mistakes (plural noun; fragmented families don’t know how to coexist). my father looks at me & sees everything i used to be (noun: innocent & soft hearted). my brother looks at me & sees the worst of my parents (verb; shaking, hurting, burning); he looks at me & sees the only thing in our family that might get out alive. i look at myself & see a monster (noun; blood hands & a venomous mouth & a failing heart).”

parkercullen:
“Sure. a drink sounds good.” Parker replies, nodding over in Jae’s direction. “I am! Are you? Everyone looks so nice.”
"alright." jae ordered another two drinks, one for parker and one for himself. "yeah it's not bad. they do. you're looking good."
jxnekim:
Inhaling softly and shakily, Jane attempted to calm herself down as her brother called her by her birth name. “Don’t call me that, that’s not my name Jaeshin…“ Her knuckles were white as she gripped the glass he just refilled, hand shaking as she took a sip. It seemed so stupid that something as simple as her birth name would set her off, though it was the history behind the transition into Jane that made her so standoffish. Sometimes her name was spelt Jaegyeong, sometimes it meant something utterly stupid like planting or even the word talent. Her parents never remembered the Hanja they used though, leading her to never really know the meaning of her name. "If you don’t class me as a customer, then what do you class me as? When I’m paying good money for your alcohol I’d expect to be treated better…”
jae stared at her, sighing deeply and shaking his head. it was difficult to deal with her sometimes and he didn’t understand her, it had simply been a joke but again what had he expected from it? “it’s your birth name. it’s on your birth certificate whether you call yourself jane or not. it’s your name, just like mine is jaeshin, like it or not.” he crossed his arms and took a step back. she wasn’t the only one who had issues with their parents, hell, the only reson he had their number was simply because of noah. “i class you as my sister. i was teasing you, just like you do with me there was nothing personal in that statement but if you’re gonna be so standoffish about it, jane, then you know where the door is.” and with that he moved to serve another customer.
malbrockway:
“Well that sounds kinda’ like a medical issue ya’ might wanna’ get checked out,” Malcolm replies dryly, reaching over with a lighter to re-light the flame on one of the sterno-burners that had gone out under a chafing dish.
"i honestly don't think it's a medical issue. maybe some food doesn't agree with me, but that doesn't mean shit, because i won't stop eating it." he popped something else into his mouth.”i mean foods that good. what can i say?”
valgiacomo:
“Sorry, but what is that?” she pointed to the small bite the man placed into his mouth. American food was greatly different than what she was used to in Italy. The labels didn’t state what the actual ingredients were, with her dietary restrictions, it made things a thousand times more difficult.
"a mini quiche i think." he shrugged. he looked down at the plate and examined them. “yeah mini quiche.” he breathed looking over at the woman and he offered her a smile. “do you want one?” he asked trying to be at least the slightest bit polite,
