“When you were in law school you had some noble idea of what a lawyer should be. A champion of individual rights; a defender of the Constitution; a guardian of the oppressed; an advocate for your client’s principles. Then after you practice for six months you realize we’re nothing but hired guns. Mouthpieces for sale to the highest bidder, available to anybody, any crook, any sleazebag with enough money to pay our outrageous fees. Nothing shocks you. It’s supposed to be an honorable profession, but you’ll meet so many crooked lawyers you’ll want to quit and find an honest job. Yeah, Mitch, you’ll get cynical. And it’s sad, really.”

Letting go doesn’t mean that you don’t care about someone anymore. It’s just realizing that the only person you really have control over is yourself.

I think everything in life is art. What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art.

The Real Highlight of the Bataan Day Trip (though not initially planned) - Revisiting the Boat People Museum
At 11:00 a.m. on June 4, 1981, a group of nine men and three women, led by Dien La Tan, left Nha Trang, South Vietnam aboard this vessel in ten days, they negotiated 850 kilometers of rough, open seas.
At 8:20 a.m. on June 14, 1981, they were sighted drifting aimlessly off Napot Point, Morong, Bataan. Their vessel (the actual one seen in the photos) was first mistaken for a piece of floating debris since all its passengers were too weak to stand, having been without food and water for two days.

From then on, Philippines had been accepting 20,000 Vietnamese refugees seeking for relief per batch. All in all, our Philippine Refugee Processing Center (PRPC) had helped almost 400,000 refugees by providing them different sorts of training for six months. These were done to train them to become more responsive and independent as they will be relocating to the USA or to other financially stable EU countries.
According to our tour guide, Sir Clemens, UN had awarded the Philippines for dedicating the largest rehabilitation center for these refugees despite the onset of political crises at that time. By the way, to date, we only have these artifacts and photographs to prove that once in history, they landed in one of our peninsulas. Actually, some are currently living in Palawan but has no definite report on how they had thrived after the period of six months of rehabilitation.
Please let's plea for the preservation of this national heritage which was almost forgotten after the Marcos' Administration.

Just not yet..
Resting in one place, I tried to see things in this perspective.
Effort, patience, diligence -- all to only remain so prospective.
Until I got fed up, woke up and moaned “I’m such a rogue!”
Then hearing someone, this is just your prologue.

We’re not supposed to be together. That’s what the universe says, but my heart calls for you, it cries for you, it wants you.

You can understand and relate to most people better if you look at them — no matter how old or impressive they may be — as if they are children. For most of us never really grow up or mature all that much — we simply grow taller. O, to be sure, we laugh less and play less and wear uncomfortable disguises like adults, but beneath the costume is the child we always are, whose needs are simple, whose daily life is still best described by fairy tales.

Just finished J. Grisham's A Time to Kill. I almost lost all hopes of Jake Brigance winning his murder case, but from a "redneck" jury, a no guilty verdict came a surprise. How come? Read the book. Compelling, utterly compelling. :)
Everyone always wants to know how you can tell when it’s true love, and the answer is this: when the pain doesn’t fade and the scars don’t heal, and it’s too damned late.
