I took a break from re-reading ACOWAR to finish up Amren. Oh. My. GOD. There are some magnificent moments in this book. Future posts (starting on the 16th) may contain spoilers. You have been warned.

All the redemption (SPOILERS)

In order of broken-heartedness: 5. Jurian? Like what? Still skeptical. 5. Amren and all her glory finally getting her chance at life and finding all of it a gift. (Also let’s just bask in the beauty of SJM’s poetic language.) 4. Feyre finally loving ALL of herself even the bad parts. SJM could have gone through and described all of it, but instead she gave a panther and two sentences to it. I think that means more than if she actually spent a chapter on it. Besides, we were with Feyre during her darkest moments. The outcome of seeing all that is more important. 3. Their dad. We’ve been wondering for over a thousand pages where he went. Now we know. And while idk how he went from apathetic father to army recruiter, it was a bittersweet ending. 2. SURIEL BEING A DREAMER TOO LIKE NO IM CRYING JUST STOP. 1. Tamlin saying, “Be happy, Feyre.” Not that this excuses anything he’s done, but he STILL loves her so much and finally starts to understands that selfless love Rhys has for Feyre. This isn’t the end of his redemption but the beginning of finally realizing how wrong and broken he actually is.

Tamlin Tool percentage by book, IMO

ACOTAR–25%, maybe like a screwdriver? Mostly okay for a tool except one-sided story telling Feyre and taking care of her family conditional on her staying, plus biting and making out UtM instead of trying to help her escape.

ACOMAF–100%. The full toolbox, kit and kaboodle. We all read the book. No explanation needed. [kept under infinity only to place acowar in a reasonable comparisson]

ACOWAR–99%. The toolbox minus like… a nail. Only given because T-cubed helped Rhys survive, sent the wind after Feyre to fly, and said “be happy.” Points not yet finalized as he’s about as reliable as a snake.
