Yes it’s called the mammalian diving response and it’s also why doing face masks and taking a shower is soothing. Our amphibian ancestors used this mechanism to slow down the heartbeat and lower body temperature so as not to waste calories while swimming (which is very calorie intensive). It makes you feel safe because predators are less likely to get you in water than on land. The fish brain is alive and well in all of us.

And boom, a couple hours later, the show is over. I head back to my dressing room to change, get out of my makeup, and laugh and discuss the happenings on stage tonight. I absolutely love my dressing room mates (@kbreencombes @rieichi and @misakuranaga ) because we’ve known each other for so long, get along so well and have shared a lot of fun times. I’m not one for sitting around though and pretty soon I’m headed home. Another T journey to my cozy house, to rest up and do it all again tomorrow. I absolutely love what I do even if I’m pretty tired. Can’t wait for the show tomorrow! - Lia Cirio
