hEY FAM !! it’s your great aunt marls here and for those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of meeting him -- this is my son, liam hwang. he’s just misunderstood and wants to be adored -- why can’t everyone just get on board with that plan ? but basically he’s got a mix of a privileged and a nomadic life all leading up to his first loop. hmu if you want to plot something out with him ? fair warning, he can be pretty annoying if he doesn’t get the attention he craves but if you’re willing to give him the time of day, he’ll actually be pretty charming and nice.
minjve:
Minjae was a solid 95% sure that the boy before him had some sort of death wish ; or, at the very least, found amusement at the verbal hits he was constantly faced with from the younger. Either way, it baffled Minjae constantly— and maybe that was what Liam was intentionally aiming to do : catch the boy off guard. After all, there weren’t many that could. —-Though Minjae was mostly sure Liam was just determined to be an obnoxious little shit. “I dunno— you seem pretty self-destructive to me,” he smirks in response, admittedly satisfied at watching the other kneeling over to nurse his leg. Serves him right. A soft scoff passes through his lips at the pseudo-threat, eyes rolling and gaze averting to the side. “Please— I’m pretty sure the o n l y thing you have going for you is your face, darling,” he replies through a snort, a sarcastic quirk to his lips curling over the words. “And even that is completely ruined by your personality,” the boy continues to quip back, begrudgingly following the elder to whatever destination they would find themselves at. “Besides … my peculiarity isn’t limited to books, you know. Judo, Jujutsu, Capoeira, Muay Thai— you’d be surprised at the sort of shit my mind withholds,” he grins cockily, finger tapping against his temple for emphasis. Okay— so that was MOSTLY bullshit ; he definitely k n e w the various techniques of each sport, he just … you know … had never actually PRACTICED any of it ( seeing as he self-identified as being allergic to all physical activity outside of sex ), but what Liam didn’t know wouldn’t hurt him.
Liam rubbed his aching leg for a few moments until the pain dulled and he couldn’t stand up right once again. Minjae was an asshole -- that was a given -- but he was an entertaining asshole, all things considered. Even though he lived, ate and breathed every second of every day with the other peculiars, he wasn’t particularly close to anyone. It was a little bit lonely to think about if he considered the way he used to live his life. Albeit his previous life wasn’t filled with deep meaningful connections either, but he had been worshiped in a way that this group did not seem to appreciate and it left his socializing skills ... lacking. All things considered, Minjae was probably the person he was closest to -- merely based on the fact of how often Liam went out of his way to annoy the younger male. Speaking of which, he threw on his most dashing and ‘princely’ grin as he placed a hand over his heart. “ Oh, your sweet words, what they do to me ! ” he sighed, before chuckling and returning to a somewhat normal stance. “ At least we can agree on the fact that I have a very attractive face. We’re making progress here, Minjae-ah. ” Liam stepped closer ( a really foolish choice in hindsight ) and tapped Minjae’s forehead. “ I think that mind of yours ‘withholds’ a lot of gay porn, ” he chuckled before backing away, placing his hands in his pockets. “ Come on, stop talking or we’ll never get anywhere. ”
minjve:
Minjae realized that the only actual way he could manage surviving their time together without cracking and strangling the elder’s neck, was if he were to simply ignore the load of crock Liam was saying— though that would certainly prove to be a helluva lot easier if the boy would finally shove off with those god-awful pet names. “You’re literally ASKING for someone to maim your obnoxious face, aren’t you?” He n e a r l y tacks on a ‘ pretty ’ somewhere in that sentence, but he was almost entirely certain he would never hear the end of it had he done so. He offers nothing more than an annoyed eye roll in response to the other’s rambling, following behind the taller male with a heavy sigh and a rumpled expression. “And I only ever repeat said threats, because I’m nearly positive they intermingle with the air between your ears and don’t actually register with your small, incompetent mind,” he responds with a self-satisfied grin, pausing in his step beside the other in order to aim the cocky smirk up towards him. There was certainly nothing more pleasing than tearing down the intelligence of another, was there? —Though the quirk of his grin doesn’t last, of course ; lips falling down into a grimace at the nickname, his boot delivering a swift kick to the back of the elder’s shin in response. “Every pet name from here on out is met with a kick, just so you’re aware —The moment you get to five, I’m aiming my shoe directly towards your balls … got it?”
There was probably something wrong with Liam’s brain if he was being quite honest with himself. There was not a single sane person that would react to months of verbal abuse with the kind of twisted glee that Liam did. He was certain that there was absolutely nothing stopping Minjae from strangling him in his sleep and yet he continued to goad the younger male. No, it wasn’t very sane behavior at all. But still, it was Liam’s behavior and he was going to own up to it if nothing else. He figured that being maimed by Minjae would be a preferable way to go in comparison to whatever death he would suffer at the hands of a Wight. “ Hm, I don’t think I’m that self-destructive. Close, but not quite there yet,” he quipped, tapping his chin as if he was actually considering the option. He was vain enough to know he’d like to keep his r e m a r k a b l y handsome face in tact, thank you very much. When Minjae tossed more insults his way, he almost smiled affectionately. Okay, yeah, definitely not sane. “You know exactly just what to say to get my heart racing, Minjae. Quit it,” Liam teased before falling forward with a yelp as his leg was kicked out from under him. His hands spread out immediately to prevent himself from falling flat on his face and he glared over his shoulder at Minjae. “What the hell--” he stopped when the younger explained that the next few assaults wouldn’t be quite so nice. “You say that as if you think I can’t take you, Min. I’m more than just a pretty face I’ll have you know.” Liam huffed and rose to his feet, dusting off his hands and fixing his hair. “I’ll let that one attack slide for now. So, how about we continue about our lovely day out with a little less violence, hm?”

chungha: i mean chungha: idk if u can count having lunch with me, the local antisocial loser, as socializing but sure chungha: and ofc im paying i wouldnt offer if i wasnt
liam: it involves interaction with another human being liam: i’m pretty sure it counts liam: well then if you’re paying than that’s a totally different story liam: i want all you can eat
minjve:
The moment he’d turned to the nearest source of human interaction— demanding with his usual air of superiority— he’d hardly even acknowledged who he was speaking to until it was too late. Because he CERTAINLY never would’ve openly agreed ( much less demanded ) to willingly spend the day witth Liam fucking Hwang had he realized. An agitated sigh is quick to fall past his lips, fingers massaging against his— now throbbing— temples in an exaggerated show of frustration. “First of all, fuck off with the ‘ darling, ’ it’s not as cute as you probably assume it is,” he points out with a cocked eyebrow, face contorted into an expression that was c l e a r l y unimpressed with the elder. “Second of all—” he finally pushes himself up from the couch, tossing the blanket and the forgotten book off to the side. “Don’t flatter yourself. And do not refer to this as a date again, Hwang. —-I know you don’t take my threat of castration seriously, but I have no qualms with cutting your dick off if you get on my nerves enough … just saying.” Despite his words, and his vocalized distaste towards the idea of spending an afternoon with the other, he’s already moving to bundle himself up in his various outerwear, pointed gaze directing its way back towards Liam. “Well— are we going or what?” A huff of impatience breathes out alongside the words, lips pursed and head quirked as he waits.
Even if he had wanted to Liam wouldn’t have been able to keep the shit-eating grin from appearing on his face the moment Minjae realized who he was talking to. “First of all, no. It’s my favorite nickname for you. Can’t stop, won’t stop,” the elder shrugged. Honestly, Minjae was pretty scary when he wanted to be, but there must have been something in Liam that had a bit of a deathwish, because it was never scary enough to get him to stop teasing and taunting the younger male. It was one of his few joys living in the house and he’d be damned if anyone took that joy away from him. “If you know I don’t take you seriously, then why do you insist on repeating the same threats over and over again?” Liam sighed, dramatically. He crossed his arms and cocked his hip and head to one side, looking down at the other with some kind of sympathy in his eyes. “C’mon, let’s get going. It’ll even be my treat, sugar,” Liam moved straight passed Minjae and out the front door. “Ah, just smell that city smog. Reminds me of the good ol’ days,” he stopped on the porch to take a big whiff of the air before continuing his way out, giving Minjae plenty of time to follow.

“you’re right, i have a better sense of style than you. i’m surprised you didn’t see it before,” she smirked, partially teasing. “honestly, i’ve never taken the subway before in my life. is it true it’s really hard to understand what the conductor says over the announcement speakers?” she asked referencing the how i met your mother episode she watched. “why do you do that? don’t you get curious?”
“you’re so funny. stop it. my sides hurt,” liam quipped back with a straight face. “yeah, that’s true. if you can understand the conductor, it’s a brand new train and you just need to give it a week before the speakers get vandalized. you just need to know your stop, or pay attention to the map.” liam pursed his lips at her question and shrugged his shoulders. it wasn’t exactly that he didn’t care. “it’s not that. it’s just safer if we’re not in constant communication. it’s not like i never hear from them.”
romance is alive
minjve:
Minjae had noticed it the moment he’d woken up that morning ; the small, subtle shift of something that had him feeling just the t i n i e s t bit off from his usual ( obnoxious ) self. It was a feeling he directly associated with the first morning following his introduction to his original time loop— a tiny, four-year-old ball of fury and overwhelming anxiety, fearful and sleepy-faced as he woke up to a house filled with strangers for the first ( and, unfortunately for Minjae, himself, not only ) time in his life. It was a feeling he usually combatted with familiar things : an old, tattered book— read and loved to the point of near destruction—, a thick, knit blanket he’d bought whenever they were somewhere further down south, and a cup of tea from the stash he constantly hoarded for himself in the cupboards. Even those things, however, weren’t enough to halt the anxious twitch to his fingers ; a sigh tumbling forth from the boy in question’s lips, hands moving to close the delicate book with a frustrated snap. He needed something. Something MORE. Sex was his usual go-to outlet, of course … but even t h a t seemed like nothing more than a momentary solution to a more deep-rooted issue. His fingers continued to tap against the spine of the book he currently held within his grasp, teeth clasped down on his lower lip as his eyes anxiously searched his surroundings. It’s with the uneven breaths currently puffing out between his lips that he’s FINALLY able to pinpoint the cause of his current anxiety : he felt suffocated— breathless and claustrophobic from being constantly cooped up within their current constraints. He needed out. And with another heaved out sigh, he shrugs the blanket from his shoulders and looks up at a nearby passing roommate with a determined, set gaze—— “—-Take me out. Out of here. Anywhere. I wanna go out.”
There was an itch that was crawling just beneath Liam’s skin. Being in a city that felt more like home than anywhere else in the world, yet not being there with his parents left him feeling sort of disassociated. It made him feel nostalgic and it made him worry about his parents -- the people he tried not to think about as he might never see them again. The city was too filled with memories of only them and he needed to counter them with new memories -- ones that didn’t make him feel like crying. With a newfound determination, Liam sprung up from his seat and dug through his piles of clothing. He slipped on a nice silk dress shirt and fixed his hair before grabbing a peacoat and scarf and heading towards the front door. “ I’m heading out !” Liam shouted out, not really caring if anyone decided to join him or not. He knew the Ymbrynes would want someone to go with him, but he didn’t need a babysitter. Liam only paused when he heard Minjae’s voice ordering him around, as usual. He turned his head and raised an eyebrow at Minjae’s sudden request seeing as how the other male typically would hide from him whenever possible. He smirked -- the temptation to tease him was almost too strong if it weren’t for the look in his eyes. The look of a caged animal longing for the freedom of the outside world. Liam nodded his head, tilting it towards the door in invitation. “ Grab your coat then, darling. If you wanted a date so badly all you had to do was ask. ” Okay, so maybe that counted as teasing, but Liam could have said something much worse so hopefully Minjae would understand the restraint he had just demonstrated.
taempath:
The aspect of settling down anywhere was still something of a foreign concept— an idea he’d really only ever allow himself to linger on in the dead of night, when worry WASN’T wracking every single one of his nerves, for once. But s t i l l— the idea, itself, was a rather appealing one, and he couldn’t quite help but think of a life lived in the city his mother had always spoke so highly of. “Is this your first time in New York?” Tae, himself, could only recall snatches of memories— blurry images of a ballet his mom had taken him to see whenever he was much younger, as well as an overwhelming feeling of nostalgia that eased from his mother’s palm into his own as they watched the show.
His mouth quirked upward into a hint of an arrogant smirk at Taemin’s question. Was it his first time in New York ? Did he look so uncivilized as to have never set foot in one of the most famous cities in the world ? He almost said as much before remembering that manners were sort of a thing and Taemin was humoring his little train of thought. “ No, it isn’t. I’ve stayed here a few times with my parents -- before loops were dissolved entirely, of course. We never stayed long, but we’d stay here longer than other places. There’s a lot of people in New York City ... makes it easier to hide. ” Since before he was born, his parents had been running. His father had fallen so deeply in love with his mother that he couldn’t bear the idea of keeping who he was a secret nor putting her in danger by staying in one place for too long. His mother had taken the revelation in stride and had agreed to be his wife, to love him and live with him as nomads. Things only became more complicated when Liam was born, but he had never lacked love and attention -- he never feared for his life until he was old enough to realize that there was something to actually fear out there. He never feared anything more than harm coming to his mother. “ My mom liked it here best. Since we could stay for a couple months, I guess it almost felt like what having a normal life would be like.” He paused to look over at Taemin. “What about you ? Have you been here before?”
