T: “Stellano! My good friend, I have arrived! It is I, Templar,”
Templar waited at the door for a bit, doubting Stellano even heard him. The waves from the sea were so loud, and the home in the lighthouse was so far up. But the door opened quickly, and a tall man came stepping out.
St: “Templar! My dear, welcome! Long time no see! Tell me, how is the Princess? Her Lady-In-Waiting? How is the clock I sent you last year, I forgot to ask! I hope it isn’t broken, Oh my, I could make you a new one or come in for repairs! Which reminds me, last month the fence broke in my garden and a deer ate all my flowers! And I have not a clue for gardening, they took me so long to grow!”
T: “Stellano, Stellano, please. I am here on urgent matters, you can tell me about your lovely garden some other day. And yes, the clock is quite alright,”
Stellano chuckled, but he nodded and gestured for Templar to follow him up the stairs. The way to the top of the lighthouse was long and old, but the home upstairs was welcoming, although a mess
T: “Ah, still disorganized, I see,”
St: “No no, It’s messy, but it’s an organized mess! You see, I have been working on several projects. I have been trying to track and mark down all the stars in my current sky, while trying to see how old some of the stars are. A lot of math, yes? You see, if one just looks hard enough you can know all the secrets the sky has to offer. A lovely thing, really. Oh! And I have been building a machine! Something to hopefully be faster than horses!”
T: “Faster than horses you say?”
St: “Yes! Oh! And I have been trying to create something faster than paintings! You see, if you have a very small pinhole in a very dark box, it will project that very image but upside down! Isn’t that remarkable! Yet I want to try to capture that and retain said image. You see, if you take some simple silver chlor-”
Templar held up his hand for a second, stopping Stellano in his tracks.
T: “Stellano, please. I have something very important to show you. May I sit?”

Selene rushed down the hall, her footsteps quiet and careful. She knocked gently on Lailah’s door, holding a folded letter in her hands. She was bouncing on her heels.
S: “Lailah, My Lady! Open up, guess what? I have a letter!”
L: “What? Is it from Lexiel! Let me see! Let me read it!”
Lailah flung open the door, pulling Selene in before slamming it back shut. The girls giggled like a bunch of school girls.
L: “And I was just about to go to bed! Selene, don't let Father know!”
S: “Of course not! Now hurry, open it, open it!”
Selene sat in her usual spot on the bed, looking over Lailah’s shoulder as she opened it carefully. Lailah read the letter, the words of the poem written in messy calligraphy.
L: “‘Your hair, tall grasses on a summer's day. Your voice, a murmur of windswept trees’ Ugh how lame! Goodness, at least he is very sweet, although not a very good poet!”
S: “His intentions are sweet! How does the first letter feel, Lailah? As good as you imagined?”
Lailah laughed, her cheeks a bit flushed as she read the poem over once more. It was long, and not well written, but it still made her heart flutter. Selene giggled, looking at the postscript written in a much nicer handwriting
S: “Let me see that! Oh! Oh…”
L: “What does it say? Let me see, I haven’t read that part yet!”
S: “Nothing, nothing! Just read your silly little poem, this part is private!”
Selene and Lailah both laughed, Lailah trying to grab the parchment once more from Selene. Selene tore off the postscript from the letter, handing the upper part back to Lailah.
S: “Here you go Princess, your pristine poem,”

QC: “My Dear,”
KG: “Charlotte. What is it, can’t you see I am busy?”
Queen Charlotte came to stand next to King Giaseric’s desk. She ran her fingers along the wood before folding her hands in front of her.
QC: “Don’t you think you should give our daughter her letters? They have gathered quite the numbers,”
King Giaseric raised an eyebrow, putting his quill down. He rubbed the bridge of his nose, having just had the same conversation with Lailah days prior.
KG: “No. She is a grown woman, she has no need for foolish love games. She always has her head in the clouds and her heart in the wrong place. Something you know quite about,”
QC: “Don’t start with that. She is indeed a grown woman, and a grown woman who may read her own letters. She is very ill and she is to be married. I do not see what harm some letters could do,”
King Giaseric stood up, his hands on his desk in an angry manner
KG: “I said those letters are foolish love games!”
The King slammed one of his drawers open, the unopened letters inside sliding about. He grabbed a large handful of them, taking them over to the fireplace. Queen Charlotte just watched as he tossed them in all at one time.
KG: “Grab the rest for me, Wife,”
She didn’t argue. She grabbed the rest of the letters, placing them in a neat stack in her hands before handing them all to the king.

T: “Lailah, My Lady, I have come to say goodbye,”
Lailah flung open the door in a second, having just woken up. She looked concerned and tired, and it was clear she must’ve been crying a bit. Templar chose not to say anything.
L: “Goodbye? Where are you going? Oh please tell me you will return and this is not a forever goodbye
T: “No no, of course not! I will be back in a few weeks time, okay? I am just going to visit a friend of mine. You remember Stellano, don’t you? He used to babysit for you when he was a teenager and you just a little tot,”
Lailah’s eyes lit up as she remembered. Of course she remembered, the man was a genius and hard to forget. She grabbed Templar’s hands and bounced on her feet for a bit.
L: “Oh Templar! Please tell him I said hello! And tell him I miss him quite a bit! Oh! Allow me to come with you please!”
Templar laughed, placing a warm hand on Lailah’s shoulder, trying to get her to calm.
T: “Well, My Lady, you cannot come with me but I promise to tell him about how much you have grown and that you said hello. I am sure he misses you as well,”
L: “Oh thank you, Templar! Why are you going? How long will you be gone?”
T: “Well, the reasons are between me and him. And I am unsure how long I will be gone for, it depends on the time it takes to travel. He moved quite far away you know. Between the coast of Falcon Isles and Finchfar,”
Lailah sighed, but she nodded. She gave Templar a tight hug, wishing him the best for his journey. She was curious as to why he was going, but Templar has always been a secretive man. She trusted him.
L: “Oh, goodbye, Templar! Good luck and safe travels. I shall miss you,” T: “And I too, My Lady. Goodbye,”

Lexiel burst into Iliana's room. She looked up from her vanity, dropping her hairbrush. She scowled, rolling her eyes before turning to face the intruder.
I: “Can’t a girl have her privacy?”
Le: “I don’t care, look!” I: “Another letter from Princess Lailah?”
Le: “Yes… she-”
Lexiel sighs, giving the letter another long read. He sighs, running his hands through his hair.
Le: “She says she hasn’t been getting my letters. King Giaseric has been hiding them. I wrote her so many poems and she hasn’t been able to read them even,”
I: “Good riddance. Those poems were trash,”
Le: “That’s not the point! Iliana, I should be able to write to the woman I love without someone interfering! She wants me to write her a letter addressed by you. So will you sign it for me?”
Lexiel goes over to the mantle, grabbing his usual quill and parchments. He starts writing, glancing at Iliana.
Le: “Please, sis? I promise I’ll write fast so I won’t keep you waiting,”
I: “Fine. I guess it makes sense. But let me write a postscript too. For Lady Selene,”
Le: “Deal,”

Lailah stormed to Selene’s chambers, her hands still clenched and her face scrunched. She threw open the door and sat on her bed in a huff. Selene raised an eyebrow
S: “I assume it went poorly?”
L: “I got grounded, so I am technically not supposed to be in here. And you won’t believe this! Lexiel has been writing to me, but Father hasn’t been giving me the letters! Isn’t that absurd?”
Selene looked at Lailah, the shock clear on her face as well.
S: “You’re kidding me,”
L: “No! And then he noticed my eye color after reminding me of my engagement!”
S: “Oh he’s so dense!”
L: “That’s what I said! I’m going to write another letter to Lexiel and tell him to address his next letter to you, okay?”
Lailah laid down on Selene’s bed, wanting nothing more than to scream into the pillow. She was frustrated and hurt, and surely Lexiel would be too.
S: “Have him send it under Iliana’s name, so your father won’t take it again,”
L: “Oh, Selene, you are a genius! I shall get to writing it now. Goodnight!”
Lailah sprung to her feet in a huff, making her way back to her own chambers.

L: “Father, May I come in? I want to ask you something,”
Lailah slowly opened the door to the King’s chambers without waiting for a response. She sat down on one of the cushions, sighing before thinking of what to say.
KG: “What is it, Lailah,”
L: “Um… well… I was wondering… You know how I send letters to Endymion? I am just wondering if he wrote me back at all. I haven’t received any from him and I was wondering if you knew why at all,”
KG: “Do not lie to me, Lailah,”
Lailah gasped at his sharp tone, before rolling her eyes.
L: “I am not lying! I have been writing to Endymion!”
KG: “I did not even say what you were lying about! I know you have not been writing to Endymion, you have been writing to Lexiel. He has written you back many times, but I have not given them to you,”
Lailah stood up, her fists clenched as she heard what King Giaseric just said. Lexiel has been writing to her… but those letters are held hostage.
L: “Father! How could you? How long have you been doing this? How many do you have? Give them to me! Ugh! You’re the worst!”
KG: “Watch your tone around me, Daughter! You are not to write to him. You are marrying Endymion and that is final! Now stop arguing about it, I will not give you those letters. And what happened to your eyes, girl?”
L: “Oh of course you notice now! Father, you are so dense! I cannot believe you!”
KG: “Go to your room,”
Lailah groaned and rolled her eyes once more before simply just stomping out of his chambers.

S: “Still writing to Lexiel, Lailah?”
Selene came up behind Lailah, placing her hands on her shoulders gently. Lailah jumped, gasping as she saw Selene
L: “Selene! You frightened me, goodness! Yes I am writing to Lexiel. I do not know why I do it anymore to be honest… he never sends any letters back,”
Selene tilts her head, sitting down at the chair next to Lailah. The library was quiet, just the two of them. She glances at the letter Lailah was writing before meeting her eyes again. She knew Lexiel had been writing letters, but it was still odd that Lailah wasn’t getting any.
S: “Really? Iliana says that he wrote you poems. I am not sure if he sent them, but he did write them. Lailah, he does love you, I know he does,”
L: “Poems? He wrote poems for me…? Oh goodness, why wouldn’t he send them?”
S: “Well, Iliana said the poems weren’t good, so maybe that’s why,”
Lailah sighed, looking down at the letter she was currently writing. She had an odd gut feeling that that wasn’t it. Lexiel would still try to court her with his poems. He’d spend hours reciting them to her in the past. Something wasn’t right.
L: “Well… maybe they aren’t good, but why wouldn’t he just send me a regular letter? Should I ask Father? I don’t know what to do,” S: “Okay, but don’t be surprised if he says something about Endymion. I’m fully expecting it,”

S: “Oh gross! Why did we take this! What if this was from a crime scene? We just tampered with evidence!”
Selene held the blanket-wrapped bone away from her body, rolling her eyes as Lailah shushed her once more.
L: “Shh! I do not want the servants or the maids to hear us! If this was from a crime scene, there would be more bones. Plus this is glowing! We must get this to Templar!”
Selene groaned, but she followed anyway. The girls barged into Templar’s office as quietly as they could.
T: “Girls, please only come in if this is an emergency, otherwise please just wait a bit,”
L: “We found a dead body!”
S: “Lailah! You said it wasn’t a crime scene!”
Templar’s brows furrowed, not really wanting to deal with more drama than has already been happening. He heard of what happened at Moonloss, as well as the eye color change.
T: “Whatever do you mean? In your arms, Selene? Let me see?”
Selene showed him the wrapped bone, placing it on his desk. It looked crystalline, glowing a soft white. Templar looked at it for a long while, trying to figure out what to do with it. The words of the mysterious figure echoed in his mind. ?: “She’ll need a new body soon”
T: “Yes… Thank you, girls. I’ll… where did you find this? I’ll look into it,”
L: “We found it at the ruins. Templar, is it something important?”
T: “I… don’t know. Just please leave for now, girls, okay? I shall get back to you two later,”

S: “Lailah! Look, the squirrels are fighting! I wonder what happened?”
L: “Oh, those are chipmunks, Selene! I think at least,”
Lailah went ahead a bit, following the chipmunks. She giggled slightly, enjoying her time in the ruins and fields. It’s been some time since the girls have been there, and it was a nice break from reality. Selene enjoyed it as well. The two girls stopped at a tree.
S: “Let us set up the blanket here, we can cloudwatch, yes?”
L: “Oh yay! Just like when we were kids!”
Selene laid out the blanket, and the two girls sat down, gazing at the sky and the trees. Lailah sighed, laying back slightly.
L: “Selene, my father is a fool. He hasn’t noticed that my eyes have changed color. Isn’t that absurd?”
S: “Well, it’s not like they changed to pink! He’s a man, he’s not very observant,”
L: “That is very true. I’m sure I must get used to it when I look in the mirror. At least Lexiel still loves me!”
The girls laughed, trying to make light of the situation. Selene leaned back as well, but she quickly winced. She sat up, looking at where she sat and at the lump in the blanket S: “Lailah, get up, there’s something under the blanket and I want to move,”
Lailah tilted her head, but the two girls got up and moved the blanket. They gasped, seeing the odd glowing bone laying in the dirt.

L: “Mother, may I come in? I want to speak with you,”
QC: “Lailah sweetie, yes of course,”
Queen Charlotte looked up from her book, watching as Lailah walked into her bedroom. Lailah came over and sat on the bed, quickly coming over to her mother. Queen Charlotte wrapped her arm around Lailah, comforting her daughter.
QC: “What is the matter, my dear?”
L: “Oh Mother! It’s horrible… Everything is going so wrong, and I don’t know what to do. Templar has now locked himself in his study, Lexiel won’t return my letters… and- and I’m engaged to a man I do not love!”
Queen Charlotte sighs, stroking Lailah’s hair gently. She wasn’t the one who suggested marriage. She was against it, even with the political effects it would have. She knew of everything going on, the eye color change, the love issues, the emotions brewing.
QC: “I know, sweetie, I know. It’s stressful. Your father loves you very much and I’m sure he understands the stresses. But please try to understand his viewpoint. The tensions between the kingdoms are-”
L: “Tensions this, tensions that! Mother, I am a grown woman and I want to marry whom I want. And if I must marry a prince, then I shall marry Lexiel!”
QC: “Sweetie… I know, but… I am sorry, sweetie,”
Queen Charlotte rubbed Lailah’s back gently, knowing that saying anything would upset her more. She knew that Endymion was the crown prince, and Lexiel was the youngest. The situation was difficult
QC: “How about you go to bed, Lailah. Tomorrow, you and Selene can go to town or to the village. I won’t tell your father, and I shall cover for you two, okay? I love you,’
L: “Okay. Thank you, Mother. I love you too,”
Lailah stood up from the bed, kissing the queen’s cheek before leaving her bedroom for the night.

Templar descended down into the basement once more. It’s been a while since he was down here. He knocked once, to no response. He knocked again, and still nothing.
T: “Is anyone here? I am coming in,”
Templar pushed open the door, and the scene quickly took him aback. It was empty. All the fey wings having been taken. A lot of the equipment remained, however most of the ingredients were missing from places.
T: “What…? What happened here? Where- Hello? Is anyone there?”
Templar kept looking, but the once owned basement seemed nearly abandoned. He raised a brow, deciding to pick up some random things. He found a few papers, reading them.
T: “Honey? Why would honey be in… doesn’t that attract fey? I… That worm, it was supposed to be an anti-fey potion!”
Templar slammed the paper back down, rubbing his eyes behind his mask. He looked around, noticing a small parcel for him, wrapped up. He grabbed it, noticing the handwritten letter to him.
?: “‘Dearest Elf. I had to leave but I thought I should return something to you that I was given a long time ago. I am sure you will get this.’”
Templar’s brows furrowed, having a sinking feeling in his stomach. He quickly opened the parcel, but made sure to be careful. A pair of folded, but pristine wings.

Selene walked next to Iliana as she led her through the gardens. The two girls seemed both very stressed. Iliana tired, Selene worried. The gardens are much darker than the ones in Starcrest.
S: “Enjoying yourself, Your Highness?”
I: “No, not really. Can’t believe this. Princess Lailah will be married to my damn brother. As if he deserves it anyways,”
S: “Jealous?”
Iliana turned to Selene without a blink, her hands on her hips. She raised an eyebrow, Selene crossed her arms, her brow raised as well
I: “Don’t even suggest that. I do not like that fool of a cursed princess, I would never want to be married to her. She gets on my nerves and nothing else.”
S: “Lexiel is jealous,”
I: “Lexiel is always jealous,”
The girls continue walking. They walk through the statue garden, and Selene notices something she’s never seen before. A purple glowing crystal, suspended in hair surrounded by statues. She stops and stares at it, her eyes drawn to the glow.
I: “It’s the Evening Star. It grants a wish every eclipse. Something like that. I dunno, I don’t really care for it, I just think it looks cool. I don’t think my family ever even wishes on it anyways,”
S: “Indeed. We have something quite similar in Starcrest. The Evening Star. It does the same,”
I: “When’s the next eclipse anyways?”

E: “My Sweet,”
Lailah and Endymion greeted each other, the tension in the room palpable. Lailah sighed, looking away before crossing her arms. Endymion stepped closer to her, taking her chin in his hand and turning her head towards him.
E: “Your eyes are blue, My Sweet,”
L: “Blue? No, my eyes are green. Are you colorblind, Endymion?”
Endymion chuckled deeply, guiding Lailah gently over to a nearby mirror, where she could look at herself. Her eyes widened seeing the difference.
L: “What-”
E: “Maybe you are colorblind as well, my dear? Tell me, how was the night with my brother,”
L: “Endymion! My eye color is different and you care about my night with your brother?”
Lailah kept looking at herself in the mirror, feeling her eyes start to water. Endymion’s gaze softened slightly, gently pulling her back against him. He spins her around, embracing her with surprising gentleness. Lailah looked up at him, but she didn’t pull away.
L: “You are cruel to me,”
E: “Yet you are so calm,”
