“It went quite well, darling.” The Queen admitted with a smile. “The peace treaty has been signed and the Galafalor dimension is now in alliance with Mewni.”

“And I assume your lectures went over well?”

“Indeed! It was a smashing success and I believe much progress was made today, Darling,” the King said in a relaxed and warm confidence, as he had dislike lying to his wife: so instead he’d do his best to simply provide half of the truth for the most part.

Pressing the button with a skeptical look, the mp3 player suddenly emitted a cheery tune that surprised the King. Eyes widening in awe, “My word! It’s almost like a portable band!” he finished boisterously.

Looking quite intrigued, he exclaimed, “My word, what is this device exactly, Star!?” Whatever it was, it seemed to interest the King greatly as he examined it closer, poking it several times.

Shirtless and in the middle of The Forest of Death being accompanied by a few of his servants, he had spotted an individual in the distance that was out of place here. Raising a brow, “You there! Do you not know the dangers of this forest?” It was a good thing the King had spotted them before journeying further into a nearby cave.

She nodded, taking the sword and examining it, what a beautiful, if simple, weapon, balanced too, she didn’t know much about swords, but this one seemed well-made. Still, carrying it home would be a slog, it felt so heavy in her hands, never mind having to explain to Dipper or Stan or Ford why she came home with a sword, but she figured she’d be alright.

“Thank you, sir. I’ll… I’ll do my best. It was nice meeting you,” Besides that, I appreciate the thought, but I have no idea how to use one of these things! And so, the girl went on her way, all while quietly brainstorming a list of people she could ask/beg to teach her how to use her recently acquired weapon.

Sniffing the wind, his smelly quarry was nearby it seems as their meeting concluded for now. “Verily! May we meet again one day, but it seems like the beast is nearby: so I must go! Tally ho!” the bearded man bellowed, then ran off into the woods, but not before pulling out a massive extendable ram-club from seemingly nowhere.

Rushing ahead, his servants seemed like they were struggling to keep up as the King’s speed did not decrease in the slightest, the club resting on his shoulder like a younger boy would to a stick when playing around. Whatever he was seeking, he definitely could be followed as he made no attempt to be stealthy.

(Verse: the past) King Butterfly had noticed how his daughter's behavior had changed over the course of a few days. His concern had grown since then, and he thought it was time to address it. Knocking on her bedroom door, he could swear he heard something as he began to open it, "Sweetie, daddy would like a word with you, if that's alright?"

Star had been moping about, barely talking to her mother or father since the break up. They knew she had been dating someone but hadn’t gotten the details. Star didn’t want them to know the details. Dating a demon wasn’t exactly smiled upon anywhere and she knew that when they started dating. Now she really understood why it wasn’t the best idea.

Hearing her dad, the princess wiped her eyes to make sure no trace of tears were left. “Yeah, that’s fine. Come on in.”

“Yeah…He was a jerk, anyway.” Star stated plainly as if her words would be able to lighten the mood. She hugged her father a little tighter and offered a small smile. “Thanks, Dad.” Her words came out softly but firmly. He really did make her feel better.

Hugging her tighter in response, but not too tight–just enough to provide an emotional shelter to his child, the King spoke quietly, “Anytime, and well… then perhaps this was simply meant to be, for in life: we often have to learn our path.” The man half suspected she still had feelings toward them, but with love there is often conflict.

Despite the calm appearance: deep down, anger was still brewing within like a storm, but he’d show restraint in front of Star–she needed him more right now, and so he could vent that anger later.

I woulda remembered..” This really is strange. So far everything the man said made no sense to her. But boy was she glad she was able to stop him in time! She wouldn’t know what she’d do if someone just waltzed his way over to the Moon Cave. He was so close to being a part of the many who never returned..

Tapping his chin with a hum, “Hrm, never mind about that for now. Moving on, do you know the current year, perhaps? And your certain there is no other like you within the area?” If his suspicions were starting to ring true, then he was in the past, but he’d investigate the town a bit more to make certain if this information was true or not. Regardless, he’d have to be careful, changing anything within the potential past could have dire consequences.

The man was the one to finish the monster off. Once the monster was finished, they were both panting. Those fights had been tiring. After a minute or so, Charlotte caught her breath and deactivated her weapon. Now she doesn’t need to fight to help protect the people around here.

Noticing that people were beginning to wander over, the King’s eyes widened. Walking over to the adventurer, he handed them a small bag of gold, “You never saw that I was here and there’s no time to explain, I must move quickly,” the man finished before disappearing off into an alley.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, sir. My name is Mabel Pines.” No weapons, only two other guys, and clothes that suggested they were from another world. And not knowing which one it was, she had to assume this king and his men was no strangers to hunting. So with that all in mind, he could probably handle himself fine. “I hope you find what you’re after. As you might’ve seen, this world’s monsters can get pretty nasty.” Aaaaand that tone was her cue to wanna go.

“No thank you, I think I’ll be okay. I know my way pretty well around these parts. ‘Sides, my house isn’t that far from here.”

“Very well, my thanks to you and I wish you well, Mabel Pines. But, it is still quite dangerous to go alone, so take this!” The King attempted to hand a sheathed sword that his manservant pulled from a travel-pack. This would probably be quite strange to any human, but in Mewni: even his daughter had learned how to wield a weapon at an extremely young age; so this wasn’t strange to the King in the slightest, as the forests nearby where he was from were quite deadly at times--this one not so much it seemed, but he wasn’t going to entirely take that risk however.

The King finished in a calm voice of confidence before beginning to walk off, “May your strikes ring true.”

Star followed her dad’s eyes to the game and grinned. “Oh, that one’s called Pac-Man. You’re this lil cheese guy who eats ghosts.” At least, that’s what Marco told her. 

The princess held out a few coins and placed them in her dad’s palm. “Do you wanna give this one a shot? It’s super fun and easy~!”

Tapping his chin as his eyes squinted in thought, he inquired, “Pack-Man? But, what does he pack? Men?” It made sense to him, considering the name and the point of the game.

“Most certainly, I will give it a ‘shot’, but what are these coins for?” Had the King ever been to an arcade? It was questionable in the end, but he began examining the machine--looking at the coin-sized slot, he came to the conclusion to insert one.

The Queen felt like they were fourteen again, her heart soaring as she listen to his melodious tune. The night of the Grand Ball, many had come to court her, but none held her favor more than this little man right here.

The sparks she felt, will always feel, grew into an ember again as he finally finished. “Oh my dear,” she whispered, leaning down to narrow their distance for his kiss. “You always know how to put my mind at ease. But you are right. Star is our daughter, and we must let her know we love her with all our heart, and what we do is to help her on her way.” She stood, holding her hand out for him to hold. “Now come, my dear. The night is falling, and we should make for bed. We have a busy day ahead of us tomorrow.”

Giving a rather toothy smile afterward, the King had felt his heart soar: t’was as if the first time they had pressed lips, though it always was similar to the first kiss--full of passion and fire, one but of many of the very things that helped spark it time and time again.

Speaking calmly yet quite confidently, his voice full of warmth, “I am most glad to hear that and verily; we will help her together on the way to Queen-hood as King and Queen, but also as a family as well.” Taking her hand gently into his own, “Yes, you’re correct: we have much to prepare for on the morrow,” the King finished following beside his beloved.

"Daaaaaad! Quick you have to help me before mom gets back!!" Star was freaking out, it was just supposed to be a normal calm vacation back home, but noooooo.

A single arm stretching outward, the King attempted to place it around the back of his daughter’s shoulder to reassure her, “Now calm yourself, Sweetie; I’m sure it’s nothing too drastic, merely explain to me what happened.” Given the nature of his daughter and raising her since infancy, the King was most likely used to her misadventures at this point: it would have to be something pretty dire.

“Wait for me!”

Star yelled, completely ecstatic at the thought of fighting monsters with her dad. As long as he kept his shirt on that is. They haven’t spent much quality time together since she was a kid after all.

“Magic, or straight up knock those suckers out with some awesome moves?”

Star questioned catching up with the small(but fierce) man.

This was exciting, as long as they got it cleaned up before her mother got home they were good to go.

Still keeping his pace, the King had merely laughed at her question, “Why not both? Giving a monster something to remember is practically family tradition, haha!”

His advance still relentless, he recklessly kicked the door down to the main dance hall–adrenaline already pumping into him as the waters rushed past, the man began trudging through it at a great speed; there was when he saw them both, the monsters just as Star had said.

Smiling to his daughter while slightly stroking his mustache; his grip tightening on his ram-club, and giving her a look of, ‘They won’t stand a chance against them’ before charging with a roar.
